Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Obsessions Of A Past Life
The next day.
Yun Chuan walked out of the hotel, deciding to take a good stroll around Suotuo City to see if he could get lucky again and stumble upon some hidden treasure. After all, the benefits he gained from that crystal containing the plate metal were simply immense.
If fortune smiled on him once more and he came across something similar, it would be a tremendous gain.
Unfortunately, his luck didn't seem to match that of the previous day. He scoured the entire city, visiting every shop and even the street vendors. Yet, he found nothing. Although there were some similar ores, none of them triggered a reaction in the rune at his brow.
Yun Chuan was somewhat disappointed, though not entirely surprised. After all, if such useful things could be found so easily, he wouldn't have spent six stagnant years in Spirit Hall without any progress.
Since nothing turned up, he decided to give up on treasure hunting and shifted his focus to another plan—something he had wanted to do from the very start: meet the many characters from the original story and… thoroughly teach Tang San a lesson!
Why did Yun Chuan want to teach Tang San a lesson, you ask?
Of course, it was because every time he thought about what Tang San had done to Sister Xue and his mother in the original story, he couldn't help but feel infuriated. It was as though the mere thought of not beating him up left his mind restless!
He had already made some inquiries and learned that there were still three days before Shrek Academy officially began its admissions process. That was perfect—three days was plenty of time to do many things.
At this point, Yun Chuan's mind was already devising a legitimate way to give Tang San a good thrashing.
His plan? To adopt the alias Tang Chuan and join Shrek Academy… as a teacher.
Then, when Tang San showed up for the entrance exams, Yun Chuan could use his position as an invigilator to beat him up fair and square. As for Tang Hao, the overprotective father, if he decided to retaliate, Yun Chuan wasn't afraid in the slightest. In fact, he was curious to test how big the gap between himself and the titled Douluo was at this stage.
If Tang Hao, driven mad by suspicion, tried to kill him, Yun Chuan wasn't worried about his safety. After all, if necessary, he could "inadvertently" reveal his true identity!
Yun Chuan didn't believe that the drunken recluse would be able to lay a hand on his other son—the one who had been kidnapped by Spirit Hall and endured years of suffering.
Once his decision was made, Yun Chuan wasted no time and headed straight to Shrek Academy, where he happened to run into Flender, who had just spent several hundred gold coins on healing his injuries and was now lamenting the expense.
What followed was a "friendly and cordial" exchange between the two.
The result? Flender, now sporting a pair of panda eyes, desperately begged Yun Chuan to join Shrek Academy as a teacher—even if it was just a nominal position where he wouldn't need to teach any classes.
Seeing his goal achieved, Yun Chuan was in a great mood. He handed over 100,000 gold coins to Flender as a personal donation to Shrek Academy, which seemed to console the principal somewhat.
Afterward, Flender brought "Tang Chuan" to Shrek Academy and introduced him to the other teachers with great fanfare, proudly announcing that their newest recruit was an extraordinary prodigy—a 25-year-old (a lie Flender had been told) spirit sage! The only downside was that he looked a bit too youthful.
Tang Chuan's talent left the Shrek teachers in awe.
After a brief introduction to the staff, Yun Chuan stayed at Shrek, planning to bide his time and wait for Tang San's arrival. However, he barely lasted one night before deciding he couldn't stand it. The teacher's dorms were beyond terrible, and the food—nothing but steamed buns and pickles—was even worse.
Having grown up in the lap of luxury at Spirit Hall, Yun Chuan found this lifestyle unbearable. So, he decided to return to Suotuo City and come back on the day of admissions.
At the Rose Hotel's lobby.
At that moment, a young man and woman were standing at the front desk. They looked to be in their teens. The boy, dressed simply in a light blue outfit, stood about 1.7 meters tall. His appearance wasn't particularly striking, but he exuded an approachable aura. Around his waist was a belt embedded with 24 gemstones.
While the boy seemed ordinary, the girl beside him was the complete opposite. Her long black hair was braided into a neat scorpion braid that reached her calves. She was slightly taller than the boy and wore a pink blouse that hugged her developing figure. Though her chest was not ample, her slender waist would make countless women envious. Her long, toned legs were encased in white pants, perfectly proportioned. Despite her youthful face, there was already a hint of allure in her round, perky figure.
This pair was none other than the protagonists, Tang San and Xiao Wu.
At the moment, Tang San was standing at the counter, saying to the receptionist, "We'd like two rooms, please."
The receptionist quickly stood up and glanced between Tang San and Xiao Wu with an expression full of envy. He asked, "Are you sure you need two rooms, sir?"
Tang San nodded. "Is there a problem?"
The receptionist's eyes glimmered with a hint of mischief. "I'm sorry, but we only have one room left."
"One room?"
Tang San frowned. In his previous life, sharing a bed with Xiao Wu as a child hadn't been an issue, but now, with both of them growing into their adult forms, he was mindful of the propriety of men and women sharing close quarters.
The receptionist added, "Yes, just one. But don't worry, it's a large room with all the necessary amenities—plenty of space for two people." As he spoke, he gave Tang San a look full of unspoken implications.
Of course, Tang San didn't catch on.
Xiao Wu, however, shrugged nonchalantly. "One room is fine. Back in Nuoding, we shared a dorm, didn't we? What's the big deal? Besides, it'll save us money for nice clothes."
Tang San shook his head helplessly. He wasn't stubborn. If need be, he could always sleep on the floor.
"Alright, please give us the room," he said. But just as the receptionist was about to proceed, a sudden voice interrupted.
"I believe that room should belong to me."
Tang San and Xiao Wu turned to see three people approaching the counter—a man flanked by two women.
The two women, dressed flamboyantly, appeared to be around 17 or 18 years old, tall and slender. Most strikingly, they were identical twins.
But Tang San's gaze wasn't drawn to them. His attention was focused entirely on the man walking between them.
The man stood about 1.8 meters tall, half a head taller than Tang San. Despite looking younger than the twins behind him, he had broad shoulders and a handsome yet sharp and commanding face. His golden hair fell straight to his waist, and his deep blue eyes, with their peculiar double pupils, radiated a chilling coldness that seemed to pierce the soul.
This man was incredibly strong.
That was Tang San's first impression.
