Chapter 102: Chapter 102: Heaven's Net
Ever since he was severely wounded by Xia Yi and had half his body sliced off by the Xuanyuan Sword, Poseidon had harbored immense hostility toward all of Earth, especially Xia Yi.
He had originally believed that Xia Yi had already perished under Zeus's thunderous might, but unexpectedly, Xia Yi was still alive.
"Xia Yi!" Poseidon roared through gritted teeth. The terrifying soundwave instantly shattered the little angel delivering the message into specks of golden light that dissipated into the air.
"No! I must have my revenge! Go and summon the King of the Gods! Mount Olympus must vent this humiliation!" Poseidon glared at the broken Sea God Trident, which had been snapped by Xia Yi, his eyes filled with murderous intent.
Before long, Zeus, the King of the Gods, clad in his golden divine armor, arrived at Poseidon's palace and said in a deep voice,
"My dear brother, you should know that the ones in the Primordial Heaven Realm who informed us of Xia Yi's survival merely want to use us as their tool to eliminate him. We've already played into their hands once—do we really want to do it again?"
"King of the Gods, can you truly swallow this insult?" Poseidon retorted. "You severely wounded Xia Yi, even obliterating his very soul. Even if a sliver of his spiritual consciousness managed to escape, he must be at his weakest right now. If we don't take this opportunity to kill him, who's to say he won't seek revenge for our invasion of his world once he recovers?"
Zeus fell silent for a moment before responding gravely,
"Of course, I am aware of this. Yes, there are those in the Primordial Heaven Realm who want Xia Yi dead, but there are also many who want to protect him. If we act against him again, those people will surely bring their wrath upon Mount Olympus. We are merely a vassal divine realm under the Primordial Heaven Realm—if we truly provoke their most powerful existences, we won't stand a chance."
"Mount Olympus is not weak! If we completely pledge allegiance to the great sects in the Primordial Heaven Realm that want Xia Yi dead, they will surely protect us from retaliation!" Poseidon gritted his teeth.
Though Mount Olympus was technically a subordinate divine realm of the Primordial Heaven Realm, it had always maintained its independence, never interfering with the affairs of the Primordial Heaven.
But for the sake of vengeance, Poseidon no longer cared.
Even if it meant gambling away Mount Olympus's autonomy, he would do it.
Years ago, he had already suffered humiliation at Xia Yi's hands when he was suppressed by the Ruler's Golden Staff. And now, he had been grievously wounded once more because of Xia Yi. If he didn't take advantage of Xia Yi's weakened state to kill him, he would never be able to accept it.
Poseidon's words plunged Zeus into deep thought. Right now, he stood at the pinnacle of Mount Olympus—if he submitted to the great sects, he would spend the rest of his life under their command.
How could someone accustomed to being supreme ever accept such a fate?
If he did so, would he still be able to enjoy the indulgent, carefree life he had now?
"King of the Gods, with Mount Olympus's strength, even if we pledge allegiance to a great sect, we can still negotiate favorable terms," Poseidon continued. Having been Zeus's brother for tens of thousands of years, he knew exactly what Zeus was thinking.
"King of the Gods, the great catastrophe of the Primordial Heaven Realm is far from over. We are already entangled in its fate and cannot withdraw unscathed. If we don't pick a side now, when the slaughter finally reaches our doorstep, no one will save us! The only reason Xia Yi has not truly perished is that he has powerful figures from the Primordial Heaven Realm backing him!"
Zeus remained silent for a long time before finally saying,
"I need to consult with the envoys of the Primordial Heaven Realm."
As Zeus departed, Poseidon's gaze grew colder. He wasn't a fool—when Zeus deliberately had the angel deliver the message about Xia Yi's survival, he had already decided to submit to the Primordial Heaven Realm. He merely wanted Poseidon to be the one to ask for it.
Otherwise, why would Zeus have specifically ensured that Poseidon learned of Xia Yi's survival?
Before long, Zeus returned.
"How did it go?" Though Poseidon already knew the answer, he still asked.
"Xia Yi is currently recuperating in a small world," Zeus said gravely.
"That world has been sealed by Tu Shan Nüjiao's restrictions and is guarded by the Nine Cauldrons. Neither Immortals nor Gods can descend there. Unless we first go to the Primordial Monster Realm and defeat Tu Shan Nüjiao, we cannot set foot in that world."
[T/N: Tu Shan here refers to Mount Tu, often associated with Fox Spirits and Nujiao means lady Jiao]
"Go to the Primordial Monster Realm and defeat Tu Shan Nüjiao?" Poseidon's expression darkened. Even if they had the strength to defeat her,
simply leaving Mount Olympus to enter the Monster Realm meant they would be facing the entire Monster Realm.
No one knew just how many unfathomable powerhouses lay hidden within it. Entering recklessly was no different from courting death.
"The Primordial Heaven Realm is willing to hold back Tu Shan Nüjiao for us," Zeus said solemnly.
"They want us to send experts below the divine level into Xia Yi's small world and help them eliminate him."
Poseidon didn't immediately respond. Instead, he asked,
"I want to know—what kind of small world is Xia Yi in?"
"This is the information the Primordial Heaven Realm has gathered," Zeus said, flicking his finger. A beam of light entered Poseidon's forehead.
"Douluo Continent? Excellent. And it's not even an artificially created small world? No matter what, I must personally see to his death!" Poseidon's head snapped up, and he looked at Zeus.
"We cannot descend upon Douluo Continent in our true forms, but I can send my Trident imbued with my will. It will descend upon the Sea God of Douluo Continent, allowing him to inherit my will and avenge me. That way, it will still be my hand that kills Xia Yi!"
Poseidon's eyes burned red with hatred. Even if he couldn't physically descend, he would ensure that his will reached Douluo Continent and slew Xia Yi.
"Very well. I agree," Zeus said.
"To ensure absolute success, I will send my Thunder, imbued with my will, alongside your Trident. They will descend upon Douluo Continent together."
This was far more reliable than sending sub-divine warriors.
Once their wills took root in powerful beings within Douluo Continent, they would not only be able to monitor the situation in real time,
but even temporarily take control of their chosen hosts.
Primordial Monster Realm, Tu Shan!
Boom! Boom!
A massive, boundless net descended from the heavens, covering all of Tu Shan.
The net was terrifying—stars shimmered within its threads, gleaming like interwoven rivers of starlight, shrouding the entire mountain.
"Heaven's Net… for the second time!" Tu Shan Nüjiao's deep voice echoed from within Tu Shan.
The last time this net was cast was during Xia Yi's battle against Hades and Poseidon. It had trapped her then, preventing her from reaching the Divine Realm in time.
What frustrated Tu Shan Nüjiao now was that she sensed more than ten powerful auras controlling this net.
With just Tu Shan's strength alone, breaking free was impossible.
"They couldn't hold back any longer?" Tu Shan Nüjiao sneered.
She immediately connected with the Nine Cauldrons of China to reinforce the barriers guarding Douluo Continent, ensuring no Immortal-level beings could descend.
But soon, Tu Shan Nüjiao's brows furrowed.
She sensed two forces breaking through her restrictions and entering Douluo Continent.
"Two wills? You overestimate yourselves." Tu Shan Nüjiao scoffed.
She had dared to let Xia Yi recover on Douluo Continent because she had a trump card.
Two mere wills were nothing to fear.
