Douluo Dalu 3: Legend of the White Fox

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Victory in three moves

Among the members of Class Zero, apart from the low-key Gu Yue, the strongest by far is undoubtedly Tang Wulin.

Neither Wu Zhangkong, Tang Wulin, nor Gu Yue believed that Xia Yi could last even a minute against Tang Wulin.

Wu Zhangkong had given three minutes, clearly intending to give Tang Wulin a chance to properly deal with Xia Yi.

It was obvious that Wu Zhangkong wasn't fond of Xia Yi.

As soon as Wu Zhangkong shouted "Start," a purple light flashed in Tang Wulin's eyes. Stepping forward with his left foot, his right fist was thrust forward, and a layer of golden scales appeared on his right fist. He aimed a powerful punch directly at Xia Yi.

Facing Tang Wulin's attack, Xia Yi didn't move a muscle. He didn't even release his martial soul.

This surprised both Tang Wulin and Wu Zhangkong. Could Xia Yi's combat awareness be so poor that he couldn't even react?

Only Gu Yue furrowed her brow. She was the most familiar with Xia Yi's combat instincts, which were sharp and could not possibly be this slow.

Sure enough, just as Tang Wulin's fist approached Xia Yi, Xia Yi suddenly tilted his head.

Tang Wulin, a student of Donghai Academy and Wu Zhangkong's disciple, had a far superior cultivation to Xia Yi, and with the Tang Sect's secret techniques at his disposal, there was no way Xia Yi could avoid his punch just by tilting his head.

But Xia Yi had never intended to dodge. He only tilted his head to look past Tang Wulin's shoulder and toward Gu Yue, asking curiously, "What are you doing?"

Tang Wulin froze for a moment, speechless. "Big brother, we're in the middle of a fight. You don't release your martial soul, you don't dodge, you don't strike, and yet you're here asking about Gu Yue. What exactly are you trying to do?"

Xia Yi's actions left Tang Wulin at a loss. He couldn't just throw a punch without thinking.

He subconsciously turned his head to look at Gu Yue, wondering what she was doing to make Xia Yi pay so much attention to her.

"Be careful…"

Gu Yue didn't know what Xia Yi was trying to do, but seeing Tang Wulin turn around, she instantly understood and rushed to shout a warning. Unfortunately, it was already too late.

As soon as Tang Wulin turned, Xia Yi decisively struck. He swept his leg up and locked Tang Wulin's throat.

The intense pain made Tang Wulin instinctively turn back, but when he faced Xia Yi, he was met by two fingers.

"Ah…"

A scream that sounded like a pig being slaughtered echoed through the entire East Sea Academy. For the first time, Tang Wulin experienced pain a hundred times worse than breaking the Golden Dragon King's seal.

"You…" Wu Zhangkong glared at Xia Yi with murderous intent, before quickly turning and rushing to the school infirmary with the still-screaming Tang Wulin.

Even if he was going to deal with Xia Yi later, his first priority was to get Tang Wulin checked by the school doctor.

Xia Yi felt very uneasy under Wu Zhangkong's cold stare, so he turned to Gu Yue.

However, Gu Yue and Xie Xie were both worried about Tang Wulin, so they ignored Xia Yi and followed Wu Zhangkong toward the infirmary.

Only Xu Xiaoyan, who had just joined Class Zero, stood there, completely at a loss.

"Does this mean I passed the test?" Xia Yi looked at Xu Xiaoyan, forcing a handsome smile to appear on his face as kindly as possible.

"I… I don't know." Xu Xiaoyan, seeing Xia Yi's friendly smile, was so scared that she couldn't even speak clearly. She backed up rapidly, retreating over ten meters before suddenly turning and chasing after Gu Yue and the others.

"Am I really that scary?" Xia Yi touched his face. He didn't think he was that intimidating.

"Is everyone gone now?" After Xu Xiaoyan's figure disappeared, Xia Yi's expression turned cold.

He sighed lightly, unsure what to do alone, and decided to leave East Sea Academy.

What surprised Xia Yi was that Zi Ji was still waiting for him at the entrance of East Sea Academy.

Seeing Xia Yi emerge with a grim expression, Ziji quickly comforted him, "It's okay. You just need more time in your transformed state. If you were only six years old when you transformed, at your age now, apart from the master, you would have few opponents."

"You've been waiting here all this time?" Xia Yi asked curiously as he jumped into the car and started driving.

"You haven't officially enrolled yet, so there's no dormitory for you in East Sea Academy. The master asked me to take you to a hotel for the time being, and tomorrow we'll figure out how to get you into another class," Zi Ji explained. Gu Yue was worried about Xia Yi, since he was new to East Sea City and unfamiliar with the place. She was afraid something might happen to him, so she had asked Zi Ji to wait at the academy's entrance for him.

Zi Ji was certain that Xia Yi would be kicked out of Class Zero by Wu Zhangkong.

"So you all knew from the start that I couldn't join Class Zero?" Xia Yi asked in a deep voice.

"Don't overthink it. It's not that we look down on you, but your transformation time is too short," Ziji explained.

Xia Yi didn't respond immediately but asked in a calm tone, "Since you knew I couldn't join Class Zero, why did you still have me meet with the teacher of Class Zero?"

"Well, we had to give it a try, right? Who knows, maybe it would have worked out," Ziji replied.

Xia Yi nodded, then asked, "What do you know about Class Zero and that Tang Wulin?"

"We know he's extraordinary, but that's about it. The master doesn't want us to monitor her friends too much," Ziji said with a sigh. Not just Gu Yue, even Na'er didn't want them to pay too much attention to Tang Wulin.

"Earlier, the teacher of Class Zero told me to last three minutes against Tang Wulin," Xia Yi casually mentioned.

Seeing the cold look on Xia Yi's face, Ziji assumed he was upset about not lasting the three minutes and quickly tried to comfort him, "Don't be discouraged. Even though your soul power is much lower than his, you still have innate full soul power talent. One day, you'll surpass him."

"If, and I mean if, I defeated Tang Wulin, would your master seek revenge on me?" Xia Yi turned to Ziji, his expression serious.

"What nonsense are you talking about? Even if Tang Wulin and the master are close, they are just classmates. You are a child of the Star Dou Forest. How could the master seek revenge for him?" Ziji shook her head, thinking that Xia Yi was just overthinking because he lost to Tang Wulin.

"Actually, I did defeat Tang Wulin," Xia Yi said.

"Defeated him?" Ziji paused, looking confused. "How did you win? If you won, why are you out here so quickly?"

"Three moves, I defeated him in three moves," Xia Yi shrugged, then his tone shifted as he coldly continued, "But before the fight even began, your master revealed my trump card to Tang Wulin. After the fight, because I hurt Tang Wulin, her gaze turned icy with killing intent."

Xia Yi paused for a moment before adding, "Although I didn't see it, I could feel it."

Ziji took a deep breath. "Are you saying you defeated Tang Wulin in three moves despite master betraying you

"Beating Tang Wulin isn't impressive. The betrayal doesn't matter. What's important is that your master treats Tang Wulin differently from everyone else. I just want to remind you all—don't accidentally let your master become someone else's little wife," Xia Yi said, taking a deep breath and speaking in a low voice.

"You've gone all around just to remind me of that?" Ziji was stunned. "I thought you were upset because your master betrayed you?"

"Upset?" Xia Yi smirked. "I only get upset when a companion betrays me. As for your master, I never trusted her. Even if she stabs me in the back, I wouldn't be angry. Of course, not being angry doesn't mean I won't get my revenge on her."

Xia Yi glanced at Ziji and added, "She's the Soul Beast Sovereign, and I'm a part of the soul beasts. If she truly cares about the soul beasts, I'd obey her orders. But if she's unworthy and only sells out her subordinates, don't expect me to swear loyalty to her."

"Do you know what you're saying?" Ziji fixed her gaze on Xia Yi, her voice stern. The powerful pressure in her aura almost made it hard for Xia Yi to breathe.

"I know," Xia Yi shrugged, unfazed by Ziji's anger. He continued speaking in a calm tone, "I'm telling you this because I know you fierce beasts really want to save the Star Dou Forest. I don't want your blind loyalty to harm you or the forest."

"Do you think that because of your few words, I'd abandon my lifelong faith?" Ziji asked coldly.

Xia Yi nodded thoughtfully and said, "Since that's the case, how about we conduct an experiment?"

"An experiment?" Ziji asked, puzzled.

"Since Biji and Di Tian are secretly protecting Gu Yue, they should be in East Sea City now, right?" Xia Yi asked.

"They are," Ziji confirmed.

Xia Yi nodded and said in a low voice, "You should immediately contact Biji and tell her, whether she pretends to be injured or actually gets hurt, that she should tell your master that Biji has been attacked by a human expert and is heavily injured. She can't act easily, or it could cause unforeseeable consequences. I want you to observe who your master will choose between Biji and Tang Wulin."

"What do you mean?" Ziji asked.

Xia Yi smiled. "Earlier, Tang Wulin was seriously injured by me. In such a small place like East Sea City, no one will be able to help him. Your master will probably immediately contact Biji to go rescue him."

Ziji didn't respond but took out a soul communication device and dialed Ditian's number. "I need you to make a decision about something."

Ziji wasn't brave enough to directly test the Soul Beast Sovereign in such a disrespectful manner, so she had to let Di Tian decide.

After Ziji hung up the communication, Xia Yi revealed a smile that seemed to hold ill intentions and said, "If your master really chooses Tang Wulin, would you like me to help you train her?"
