After Fang Chang devoured the core vine of the Wailing Vine, the surrounding vines hanging from the trees drooped weakly, falling to the ground and quickly withering into decay.

From the moment they had combined to form the Wailing Vine, their lives had been bound by a special symbiotic relationship.

The death of the secondary vines had little effect on the core vine. It could simply continue merging with other Ghost Vines and quickly replenish its losses.

But the core vine, as the life center and soul power core of the Wailing Vine, was essential. Once it died, the Wailing Vine would lose its soul power supply and quickly perish.

Devouring this 55,000-year soul beast brought Fang Chang significant benefits. First, his soul power surged, nearly reaching the 30,000-year mark.

Second… Fang Chang glanced at the newly appeared notification.

『Successfully devoured Wailing Vine. Obtained additional skill: "Entanglement"』

It seemed he had gained another new skill. Fang Chang was a little excited. What would a spider's version of "Entanglement" look like?

He instinctively turned his attention to the giant tree that had been parasitized by the Wailing Vine's core vine. Now, only half of the tree remained after Fang Chang's bite. He focused his mind and tried out his new skill.

"Entanglement!" Fang Chang growled. A small crack opened in the armor on his abdomen, and a strand of silk, resembling the vine of the Wailing Vine, shot out and wrapped around the remaining half of the tree…

Although the silk resembled a vine, it was quite different. It was a normal white color, much thinner than a vine, and far more flexible.

Ah… Fang Chang felt tears welling up in his eyes. Finally!

Spiders were supposed to spin silk, but the Man-Faced Demon Spider, an anomaly among spiders, could only spit webs! It couldn't spin silk or control it with any precision.

Before this, whenever Fang Chang wanted to use silk, he had to first spit out a poison web, tear off a small strand, wipe off the poison, and store it on his body.

Those days were finally over. From now on, he could be a proper spider!

After finishing this, Fang Chang slapped his head and quickly activated his "Stealth" skill, leaving the forest and heading toward the outskirts.

This area was too close to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. A major battle had just taken place there, and now he had caused such a commotion here. It was possible that someone might come to investigate.

He had been too excited earlier and had forgotten about this. Now, realizing his mistake, he cursed himself for being foolish and hurried away.

In a hidden cave near the edge of the forest, Fang Chang poked half his head out and looked toward the center of the forest. A long time had passed, and no one had come after him. It seemed he was safe.

Perhaps that old monster Dugu Bo and Grandmaster were still discussing something important, and neither side had paid much attention to the commotion in the forest.

Just as Fang Chang was about to leave the cave, footsteps suddenly sounded in the distance. He quickly ducked back inside.

From that direction, Grandmaster and the other two appeared, their faces pale but their expressions oddly relieved, no longer carrying the worry they had when they arrived.

Behind them, a boy of about thirteen or fourteen followed closely. Judging by his clothing and appearance, it was Tang San!

His expression was noticeably different from the other three, filled with worry. Half of his concern was about how to cure Dugu Bo's poison, and the other half was about the strange feeling he had experienced in the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.

Something had definitely been stolen from him!

The more he thought about it, the more something felt off. The first time it happened, it could have been a coincidence, but now it had happened again. There had to be something wrong.

"Tang San, what's wrong? Aren't you happy to be alive?" Liu Erlong asked, noticing his expression.

Grandmaster and Flender also turned to look at him. Tang San's behavior was indeed a bit strange.

"Ah, no, it's nothing. I'm just thinking about how to cure Dugu Bo's poison. After all… I promised him."

He touched the Twenty-Four Bridge Moonlight Night at his waist with his left hand, then let go, forcing a smile as he caught up with the other three.

Should he make a move?

Fang Chang stared at the four figures, deep in thought. If Grandmaster and the others were still at full strength, he wouldn't dare to mess with them.

But now, they had just fought Dugu Bo, their soul power was nearly depleted, and they were seriously injured.

As for Tang San… a three-ringed soul master? Fang Chang could basically ignore him now.

Fang Chang slowly raised his shield-like front legs. Such an opportunity was rare. If he could kill these people here, it would save him a lot of trouble in the future.

Just then, Tang San seemed to sense something. He turned his head and looked in Fang Chang's direction, his eyes flashing with purple light.

Fortunately, his gaze didn't linger on Fang Chang. He scanned the area briefly before looking away, the purple light in his eyes fading. He probably hadn't actually spotted Fang Chang.

"Xiao San?" Grandmaster, who had spent the most time with Tang San and knew many of his secrets, looked at him questioningly.

"It's nothing. Probably just my imagination," Tang San shook his head. "I thought I sensed some killing intent over there. Maybe I've been too tense lately."

"Hmm," Grandmaster nodded, taking a small step back to stand between Flender and Liu Erlong. He tugged at their sleeves.

Flender and Liu Erlong didn't know Tang San as well, but they trusted Grandmaster unconditionally. They secretly circulated their soul power, ready to enter combat at any moment.

In the cave, Fang Chang slowly lowered his spider legs. Tang San was way too cautious. He had almost been discovered.

After Tang San's reaction, Fang Chang lost his confidence and decided to let them go for now.

Without the element of surprise, if his fight with the Golden Iron Triangle attracted Dugu Bo, things would get complicated.

Fang Chang watched as the group left, but he remained hidden in the cave.

Not long after they left, Dugu Bo hurried out of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, holding a piece of paper covered in densely written characters.

As he passed Fang Chang's hiding spot, he turned his head toward the cave, as if he had noticed something interesting.

Fortunately, after glancing at the cave and then at the paper in his hand, he continued walking out of the forest.

Whew… Fang Chang sighed in relief. Title Douluo were truly terrifying. There were still many beings in this world he couldn't afford to provoke.

Only after Dugu Bo had been gone for a while did Fang Chang dare to come out of the cave. He activated his "Hunting Instinct" and began searching for the next slime.

After some time, Fang Chang looked at the number on his status panel: 30,160 years. He couldn't help but grin. A 30,000-year soul beast—it hadn't been easy.

Now, all he had to do was wait for the Shrek Academy team to come here for their fourth soul rings.
