Douluo Dalu: Starting With Tom Cat

Chapter 55: Chapter 55: Leveling Up on the Spot, Exploiting a Bug

When it came to recovering soul power, Shen An had stumbled upon an incredibly broken trick.

Whenever he used a small soul power experience pack, his soul power would fully restore the moment his level increased.

So, without hesitation, he spent his remaining 30,000 fame points, snagging three soul power experience packs and a [Jerry's Speed Potion].

He immediately used two of the experience packs, boosting his level by one more. His soul power was now at level 28.

As for some random daily items he'd gotten, Shen An gave them a quick glance before tossing them into Taffy's diaper.

The system's storage space was limited to thirty cubic meters, so Shen An reserved it for special items. Everything else went into Taffy's diaper.

The system also had a separate storage space just for summons. Shen An noticed that only the biohazard cheese could be stored there so far.

He figured that only summons with extreme danger potential qualified for that space.

It made him wary of that cheese—it was a wicked thing, not to be used lightly.

Honestly, it was a good thing the items in the storage space could be retrieved with a mere thought.

So Shen An discreetly held Taffy's diaper in his hand, slipped it behind his back, and opened it up, letting the everyday items drop inside one by one.

Every now and then, he'd sneak a glance at Ning Rongrong. She was being quiet for once—Tom had handed her the gaming console.

The little miss was instantly hooked, staring intently as she played Tetris.

Tom, on the other hand, was curious about Shen An's sneaky hand-behind-the-back routine. Curiosity was a cat's nature, after all.

Shen An shot Tom a stern glare, warning him not to meddle. Tom nodded obediently on the surface, lying down like a good boy.

But deep down, this rebellious cat had other plans. With a sly grin creeping across his face, he quietly tilted his head to the side.

Tom's neck stretched like rubber, bending and twisting! It dodged Shen An's blind spot and peeked behind him.

That's when Tom saw it—stuff just kept appearing out of thin air, dropping into Taffy's diaper. His kitty face froze in shock.

Huh? How's all this stuff falling into that diaper?

Wait a sec—isn't that Taffy's diaper? Tom suddenly remembered the little gray-white mouse that wore it.

You sneaky, bushy-browed Shen An—playing with a mouse's diaper? Shameless!

Tom sank into deep nostalgia. It'd been less than a month since he'd parted ways with Jerry, but he was already missing him.

Oh, how he longed for those cat-and-mouse days—Jerry always losing, constantly outsmarted by him (or so Tom liked to think).

Then Tom's eyes lit up as ham after ham fell from the air. Thoughts of his old pal were instantly forgotten.

He opened his mouth wide, catching the hams mid-flight, dodging cans of cola and other packaged junk like it was a game.

Shen An, who'd been keeping an eye on Ning Rongrong, didn't notice Tom's antics. Suddenly, Ning Rongrong looked up, muttering, "Why do I keep feeling like someone's watching me? It's throwing off my game."

Then she caught Shen An staring at her, unblinking. Her heart skipped a beat, but she feigned confusion. "Hey, Shen An, why are you staring at me? You made me lose this level!"

Shen An's expression stiffened. Why am I looking at you? Because I'm terrified you'll see me messing with a diaper and laugh yourself silly.

But on the outside, he put on a sincere smile. "I just noticed how pretty you look today—couldn't help but stare a little."

Girls love compliments, right? Flatter her, shift the focus.

Ning Rongrong's cheeks flushed, her usual haughty demeanor melting away. Her gaze softened as she looked at Shen An, her small chest fluttering like a deer was bouncing inside.

"Ugh, s-stop it! I'm always pretty," she said shyly, secretly thrilled. This blockhead finally noticed my beauty!

Shen An saw that all the random items had vanished into the storage space. He shifted his gaze away from Ning Rongrong, and with a thought, the diaper disappeared back into storage.

Ning Rongrong pouted slightly when he stopped looking at her. Hmph, he just said I'm pretty, but now that I caught him, he's too scared to look. Coward.

Shen An glanced suspiciously at Tom. Something felt off—would Tom really stay that well-behaved?

Seeing the cat peacefully "sleeping," looking like a model housecat, Shen An brushed off his unease.

Whatever. I'll figure out a way to add a pocket to the diaper later—no one will notice I'm using it as a storage soul tool then.

This diaper's insane, though. It's holding so much stuff and still feels bottomless. The logic-defying props from Tom and Jerry's world are something else.

About an hour later, Pang Tao sent someone to fetch Shen An for Arena No. 1.

The main arena was reserved for those with over five consecutive wins, a high-ranking soul badge, or an exceptionally high soul master level.

Shen An brought Tom and Ning Rongrong to Arena No. 1. The place was packed—nearly every seat taken, a stark contrast to yesterday's half-empty crowd.

This was the power of hype, just like movie premieres in his old world with their big ad campaigns.

Huh? There was a familiar face in the crowd—Zhu Zhuqing, tucked away in the last row of the audience.

What a tsundere. Saying she wouldn't come, yet sneaking in to watch, Shen An thought as he stepped onto the stage.

Meanwhile, Ning Rongrong sat in the front row, holding Tom. She suddenly realized that with Pang Tao and Shen An setting up this whole show, her "An-Rong" duo wouldn't get a chance to perform.

"Hmph!"

Annoyed, she yanked out a tuft of Tom's fur. Tom winced as pain shot through his head. Seeing Ning Rongrong's grumpy face and the blue fur in her hand, he was utterly baffled.

Seriously? Why does everyone take out their bad moods on my fur?! Wiping away bitter tears, Tom pulled out some 502 glue and patched the fur back on like a pro.

As Shen An took the stage, the host began his introduction:

"Here we have Shen An, a Battle Soul Grandmaster with the weapon martial soul Nine-Leaf Sword Grass! He's the strongest Soul Grandmaster we've unearthed here at Soto Grand Soul Arena!"

"Beat him, and not only will your soul battle points double, but you'll also win a prize of ten thousand gold soul coins from the arena!"

"Of course, only soul masters with a Bronze Soul Badge or higher can challenge him."

"So, let's hear from our strongest rookie, Shen An—what does he have to say to his upcoming opponents?"

The audience and the soul masters in the waiting area turned their eyes to Shen An. To them, this kid looked too young, too green. Was he really as strong as the arena claimed?

Plenty of soul masters eyed him greedily. To them, Shen An was a juicy lamb— whoever took him down would score fame and fortune in one go.

Some of these soul masters knew each other. They exchanged glances, silently resolving to act fast when the chance came—no way they'd let someone else steal the prize.
