Douluo : Diary System in Douluo Continent

Chapter 163: Chapter 162: Xiao Wu's Fierce Protectiveness and Su Ming’s Enigmatic Smile

"As we were about to... do that, brother Su Ming took out a small thing and said that using it would prevent..."

Xiao Wu's face turned crimson as she covered it with her hands, utterly embarrassed to the point of wanting to hide from the world.

As she spoke, memories of the experience caused her to blush even deeper, and an inexplicable sensation lingered within her.

Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing, on the other hand, were intrigued. What was that small thing? How could it prevent such consequences?

During that moment, Su Ming silently gave thanks to the system's years of mischief. It often rewarded him with strange items, and this was one of them.

After all, Xiao Wu wasn't fully mature yet. An accident at this stage would be disastrous.

That night, Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, and Zhu Zhuqing continued their conversation, chatting intermittently. Xiao Wu, having spilled the beans, decided to go all in. She thought to herself, When Rongrong eventually gets taken down by brother Su Ming, let's see how she handles my teasing!

Early the next morning, Zhao Wuji rallied everyone to continue their journey. Ma Hongjun's condition couldn't be delayed for too long. Though Su Ming had treated him with his fourth spirit ability the previous night—reconnecting his limbs—the treatment wasn't perfect. Su Ming wasn't a true healing-type spirit master, and certain injuries required a specialized healer.

Ma Hongjun could move normally now, though the fracture points still throbbed painfully.

Truthfully, Su Ming hadn't been eager to help that "fatty." His injuries were indirectly caused by Xiao Wu, and Su Ming felt the guy had received his just deserts. However, since they were still part of Shrek Academy, Su Ming chose not to embarrass Zhao Wuji.

Still, Su Ming hadn't gone all out. He reattached Ma Hongjun's limbs but didn't fully heal them. After all, he wasn't a professional healer. Who could prove otherwise? Heh heh heh...

As the group rode on the wooden dragon Su Ming summoned, they finally exited the Star Dou Forest. Zhao Wuji breathed a sigh of relief. This trip had been nothing short of perilous. The appearance of the Titan Giant Ape had nearly given him a heart attack. From now on, he resolved to drag Flender along for such excursions.

Once out of the forest, Ma Hongjun suggested, "Su Ming, why don't you just ride this wooden dragon all the way back to the academy? We're still in the countryside, not the city, and besides, my injuries—"

Before he could finish, Xiao Wu snapped, "Fatty, can you be any more selfish? Keeping the wooden dragon active for so long may be convenient for you, but do you want my brother to exhaust himself to death? Where's he supposed to find so much spirit power?"

Ma Hongjun retorted, "Isn't that what Ning Rongrong and Oscar are for? They can replenish his spirit power!"

Xiao Wu's eyes flared. "Fatty, have you already forgotten the pain? Do you want me to help remind you?"

Ma Hongjun immediately shrank back, mumbling under his breath.

Dai Mubai, observing the situation, decided to mediate. He acknowledged Ma Hongjun's condition, noting that long-distance travel might aggravate his injuries. Plus, the comfort of riding Su Ming's wooden dragon was undeniable.

Given that their academy was in a remote area with few towns along the way, riding the wooden dragon seemed like a reasonable choice. Dai Mubai persuaded Su Ming, "Su Ming, look, Fatty's a patient, and Teacher Zhao is also in a weakened state after using his martial spirit avatar. Would you mind putting in a bit more effort? If you get tired, Rongrong can assist with support, or Oscar can provide sausages to restore your spirit power. We could also take breaks when needed."

Dai Mubai turned to the others. "What do you all think?"

Tang San, Oscar, and Zhao Wuji nodded in agreement.

Ning Rongrong, however, couldn't hold back her annoyance. "You guys are pushing it! This is just a journey. I'm an auxiliary spirit master, and I haven't said a word of complaint. Fatty is a strong-attack spirit master! His limbs are reconnected, and moving slower won't cause them to break again. Are strong-attack spirit masters that fragile?"

Dai Mubai waved dismissively. "This isn't a minor injury. We just want to be cautious. Besides, we're willing to help Su Ming recover his spirit power. It's not like we're being unreasonable."

Su Ming observed the male students' collective stance and couldn't help but sneer internally. Even with my presence, the "Four Scoundrels" remain as inseparable as ever. Oh well, I've never had much fondness for them anyway.

He smiled slyly, his thoughts unreadable. "Since Fatty's condition is as dire as you all claim, how could I refuse? Otherwise, I'd be accused of lacking camaraderie."

Xiao Wu, taken aback, was incensed. Why should brother Su Ming go out of his way for this fat pig? He doesn't even like these people! Yet, out of respect for her brother, she chose to remain silent, though she couldn't shake her doubts about his sudden change in attitude.

Su Ming noticed her confusion but said nothing, only offering a knowing smile. She'll understand soon enough.

Turning to Dai Mubai, Su Ming continued, "Besides relying on Rongrong and Oscar for spirit power recovery, you guys can help too. Would you be willing?"

Dai Mubai shrugged. "Of course, though we're not auxiliary spirit masters. How can we help?"

Su Ming's smile deepened. "You'll see soon enough. I just hope you don't regret volunteering—backing out would be unmanly!"

Something about Su Ming's expression unsettled Dai Mubai, but he dismissed it as overthinking.

The others didn't give it much thought either. Helping out was only fair, right?

As Su Ming glanced at their relaxed faces, he couldn't help but smirk inwardly. Maybe I'm a bit of a schemer after all.
