Chapter 59: Chapter 59: What's the use of my charm
Everyone was left stunned by Ning Rongrong's sudden outburst, which was even more shocking than Xiao Tianyang's earlier words. Just yesterday, she was a sweet little girl, so what had caused this change?
"Ignore her, keep moving," Xiao Tianyang said as he squeezed the handbrake and looked at Saber. "From now on, keep an eye on them for me. If anyone refuses to run, tell me later, and don't give them any food."
"Understood," Saber replied.
Xiao Tianyang smiled, unbothered, and turned to chase after Ning Rongrong, who had run ahead. He had immediately recognized her princess nature.
At the start, he couldn't make sense of her unusual behavior, but now everything seemed much more normal. He felt relieved, knowing that the plot he'd worried about hadn't changed.
As for whether Ning Rongrong would cause trouble, he had no doubts—if he couldn't handle a little girl, then the charm boost he'd gained during the mission would be useless.
After running for a while, Ning Rongrong suddenly stopped, bent slightly, and began catching her breath. "Isn't Suotuo City too far?" she murmured. "Forget it, let's go that way." She slowed down as she started walking.
Her visit to Shrek Academy had been just for show; whether she learned anything there was of little importance. After all, could the resources here possibly compare to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect? It didn't matter much to her. As long as she wanted, she could take a stroll and enjoy herself.
Her earlier attitude toward Xiao Tianyang had simply been curiosity, an inexplicable sense of affinity making her gravitate toward him.
How else could a young man have such a close relationship with her, when she was worth so much? But now, after he had said those words to her, she was fuming.
"Damn Xiao Tianyang, do you think I'm just some young lady you can boss around?" she muttered angrily. "I don't like him, I hate him!" She kicked a nearby stone in frustration, which rolled loudly ahead.
"I don't need you to like me," Xiao Tianyang replied coolly, blocking her path with his bicycle. "This is an order from the dean. You have to keep running—this is your only option."
Taken aback, Ning Rongrong looked up to find Xiao Tianyang standing in her way. The stone she had kicked had struck the metal on the back wheel of his bike.
"No! Why should I, an auxiliary soul master, do this kind of training?" Ning Rongrong huffed, turning to leave. "I'm not going to compete with some dog! You're being unreasonable!"
"I understand that this training may not be very useful for you as an auxiliary soul master in the long run, but it is still beneficial in the short term, at least until you become a soul king."
"If you complete this training session, I will make you a dish. How about it? Will you run or not?"
"No"
Xiao Tianyang felt a surge of irritation as he stepped forward. His presence intensified, resembling that of a massive beast awakening, sending chills through the air.
Ning Rongrong hesitated. Fear gripped her, and she stumbled back, falling as she desperately tried to escape.
"Answer me— will you start running now?" Xiao Tianyang demanded again, his tone cutting through her resolve.
The pressure crushed her spirit, and with a soft whimper, Ning Rongrong stood up and fled, not daring to look back. Before running off, though, she couldn't help but shout, "Xiao Tianyang, I won't forget this! Just wait!"
"Sigh! What's the use of my charm if I can't even persuade a little girl?"
Once the tension dissipated, Xiao Tianyang returned to his laid-back self, hopping back on his bike and leisurely following her. However, before he left, he glanced at the rice fields behind him, a smile creeping onto his face. The two guards hidden there shivered in fear.
"Has he found us?" one of them whispered, trembling.
"Impossible. He's just a soul grandmaster, and we're Soul Ancestor," the other responded, though doubt lingered in his voice.
But the atmosphere was heavy with unease, as if Xiao Tianyang's gaze alone could pierce through their hiding place. They had heard rumors of him defeating a Soul Sage over seventy levels yesterday... Should they report this?
"You are still thinking? Are you kidding?" one of the guards muttered. "You can hide, but I can't. I am not risking it."
Meanwhile, far away in the headquarters of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Ning Fengzhi, upon receiving news about Ning Rongrong's encounter, frowned but soon relaxed, smiling. "This boy... interesting. He knows how to handle both people and situations. A very capable individual."
But then, with a grave tone, he added, "Let's keep this from Uncle Chen Xin and Uncle Gu Rong for now."
Just as he finished speaking, the door opened, and a figure stepped in—the revered Sword Douluo, Chen Xin. His sword intent radiated power, and he was poised with a sword underfoot, looking every bit the formidable figure.
"Fengzhi, I heard Rongrong left. How can you let her go out alone?" Sword Douluo asked, his voice carrying concern.
"Uncle Chen, I knew you'd say that," Ning Fengzhi replied with a bitter smile. "You and Uncle Gu spoil her too much. She needs to experience the world if she's going to grow. If she wants to move forward, she has to leave the comfort of home."
"Hmph, can the academy founded by a couple of Soul Sage really compare to us?" Sword Douluo snorted. "No. I'm bringing her back!"
Ning Fengzhi sighed deeply. "Please understand, Shrek Academy is safe. Whether she's bullied or not..." He hesitated, unable to finish his sentence.
He was concerned, as the report he received hinted that Rongrong might have been mistreated.
Suddenly, Sword Douluo's aura flared, anger rising. "Someone dared to bully Rongrong?!"
Ning Fengzhi rushed to calm him. "Uncle Chen, please—don't act rashly. It's said that suffering is a blessing, and the people behind this aren't even that dangerous."
But it was too late. Sword Douluo, unable to contain his rage, stormed out, his sword flashing.
