Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Plotting Against Xue Beng
Chapter 127: Plotting Against Xue Beng
After returning to his dormitory, Yang Potian began to carefully reflect on the day's events.
With today's conversation, he'd likely managed to stall Qian Renxue for the time being. At the very least, she probably wouldn't target him in the short term. He had made his stance clear, giving Qian Renxue a buffer period between her position in Spirit Hall and her role in the Heaven Dou Empire.
Prince Xue Beng, known in the original story as a classic "lucky winner," was a notorious playboy who later claimed it was all a façade to protect himself, evading consequences effortlessly. Yang Potian had no intention of letting him off so easily, especially since Xue Beng dared to set his sights on his sister. Not to mention, Qian Renxue would be a perfect weapon against him.
As for the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect and Bone Douluo, they were clearly trying to use the Potian Clan as cannon fodder. Bone Douluo, with his Title Douluo status, had a bit too much confidence. Originally, Yang Potian had planned to simply watch from the sidelines as the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect faced trouble, but now he felt it would be a shame not to take some form of revenge.
Of course, dealing with them required careful planning. The sect had two Title Douluos, along with Ning Fengzhi's support abilities and 4,000 spirit masters. He'd need to find a way to use Spirit Hall as the blade.
Yu Xiaogang's attitude today had also irritated Yang Potian. Where did this mere Rank 29 Grand Spirit Master get the confidence to talk to him like that? Was he relying on the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's influence? Yu Yuanzhen, the clan's elder dragon, had already retreated from public life, so Yang Potian found it bold for him to act so haughtily.
Still, Yu Xiaogang wouldn't be easy to deal with, given his connection to Bibi Dong. Taking him down would require a more careful approach.
Then there was Tang San. He was just a Spirit Elder, after all, using the power of his Titled Douluo father and the Clear Sky Clan's six Titled Douluos as a shield. If he could expose the Clear Sky Clan's strength early, they wouldn't be able to conveniently sweep in as they had in the original story.
Yang Potian had always looked down on the Clear Sky Clan for hiding in the face of adversity, relying on Tang Chen's reputation to survive. On the battlefield, they only appeared to reap the spoils, never suffering significant losses.
And Tang San himself—without the Eight Spider Lances or the dual refinement of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, he'd have far less edge. In fact, throughout the original story, Yang Potian had held little respect for the Shrek group, especially Dai Mubai and Ma Hongjun. How could such characters reach great achievements?
Now, Yang Potian was most interested in pinpointing Tang Hao's whereabouts. Tang San had come to Heaven Dou Imperial Academy with Xiao Wu, and there was no way Tang Hao wasn't lurking nearby; otherwise, Xiao Wu could be exposed at any time, and then her 100,000-year spirit ring and spirit bone would be gone.
After developing a plan to deal with everyone involved, Yang Potian returned to training. Nothing was more important than increasing his own strength.
Over the next few days, however, both Tai Long and Bai Xiaofei seemed off. They frequently disappeared and seemed disinterested in training their spirit power. Yang Potian wondered what was behind their behavior.
One morning, Yang Potian received news from his clan that a meeting of the Four Single-Attribute Clans would take place in five days at the Min Clan's base.
He sneered to himself. This meeting would likely be interesting—what choices would the Li and Min Clans make?
Before he could attend the meeting, there was a knock at his dormitory door. When he opened it, he was surprised to see Dugu Bo standing there.
Yang Potian invited him in, his face full of curiosity. "Grandfather Dugu, what brings you to my dorm today? Did something happen?"
With a bit of a smirk, Dugu Bo looked at Yang Potian. "Little monster, I heard you've been bullied, so I came to check on you."
Yang Potian was intrigued. "Grandfather Dugu, you know my personality—who at Heaven Dou Imperial Academy could possibly bully me?"
"I heard that Crown Prince Xue Qinghe and Ning Fengzhi of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect paid you a visit. Were they not giving you a hard time?"
Yang Potian chuckled. "Grandfather Dugu, you certainly get news fast. No, it wasn't bullying exactly, though I do find them rather annoying."
"A mere Grand Spirit Master like Yu Xiaogang wants to lead you? And you're willing to put up with that? If it were me, I'd have just dealt with him directly."
Yang Potian sighed. "Yu Xiaogang's no more than a talentless fool with delusions of grandeur. He's Yu Yuanzhen's son, though, so I give him a bit of face."
"Little monster, that's hardly like you. You have enough power behind you now to not be afraid of either the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect or the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan."
Yang Potian shook his head. "Grandfather Dugu, if I really wanted to kill Yu Xiaogang, do you think he'd escape?"
"Aren't you considering some form of revenge? I could accompany you to the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect and show them what's what so they don't get any ideas."
Yang Potian shook his head again. "Of course there'll be payback, but how much longer do you think the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect and the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan have left? The old dragon has holed up, and he'd never dare leave home now. The Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect is simply feeling the pressure and wants to push my Potian Clan out to take the fall."
"If I were to make a move on them, it would only expose my clan's strength—exactly what they want."
Dugu Bo thought it over and nodded. "As long as you have a plan. I also heard about a rude little brat, apparently Yu Xiaogang's student."
"You mean Tang San? He's not simple; he has a powerful background."
"How powerful could he be? Worst case, I could dispose of him quietly."
"Grandfather Dugu, I'd advise against it. Tang San is Tang Hao's son, and it's very likely that Tang Hao is protecting him in the shadows."
Dugu Bo looked surprised. "Tang Hao, the Clear Sky Douluo? I didn't think he'd dare show himself, let alone have his son compete in the tournament. This is going to be interesting."
"Oh, Grandfather Dugu, today I spoke with Crown Prince Xue Qinghe and arranged for you to be the vice leader of the second team for Heaven Dou Imperial Academy."
Dugu Bo seemed irritated. "You little rascal, having an esteemed Title Douluo like me serve as your vice leader—who's the leader, then?"
"Apologies, the leader of Heaven Dou Imperial Academy's second team is me. You're just there to lend your name and prevent anyone from having unreasonable ideas."
Dugu Bo sighed in exasperation. "That's better. You really do know how to rope me into trouble."
After a bit more chatting, Dugu Bo left. Watching his figure disappear, Yang Potian couldn't help but chuckle to himself. Old man Dugu Bo sure is interesting.
Meanwhile, after returning to the palace, Crown Prince Xue Qinghe spoke to the darkness around him. "Serpent Spear, find out who Xue Beng has been associating with recently, especially his dubious friends. Also, track their recent activities."
A figure cloaked in black bowed from the shadows. "Understood, Young Master."
In just an hour, the Serpent Spear Douluo returned with a stack of documents.
Xue Qinghe read through them carefully, his face turning pale. "Well, my little brother has hidden himself well. I didn't realize he'd secretly built up such strength. And as for my dear uncle, he's clearly been supporting him from the shadows."
The Serpent Spear Douluo spoke up, "Young Master, shall I eliminate the two of them?"
Xue Qinghe was exasperated. What kind of people were these subordinates of his—strong but not exactly bright?
After a moment of thought, Xue Qinghe said, "Send word to Salas. I need to see him."
With that, Serpent Spear Douluo silently exited.
Xue Qinghe fell into contemplation. Yang Potian, that sly kid, wanted to use him to get rid of Xue Beng for daring to pursue his sister. What tricks would he use to deal with Ning Fengzhi and Yu Xiaogang?
Thinking about how Yang Potian had once again held his hand today, even daring to give it a squeeze, Xue Qinghe felt his face flush slightly. This brat dares to take advantage of me? I'll make him pay for it one day.
Yang Potian found himself pondering a mystery. By now, Xue Qinghe should know that Tang San was Tang Hao's son, and Tang Hao was the man who killed his father. Yet Xue Qinghe hadn't taken any action against Tang San.
In the original story, Ning Fengzhi had once introduced Tang San to Xue Qinghe and made his identity known, yet Xue Qinghe never did anything about it. Was this "little angel" actually hoping to recruit Tang San?
Sometimes Yang Potian wondered if Tang San truly was a "child of destiny" or if the intelligence of the villains in Douluo Dalu had simply plummeted. Despite being Tang Hao's son and openly competing in the Spirit Master Tournament, Spirit Hall never acted against him. Neither Bibi Dong nor Qian Renxue seemed to notice him at all, even when he revealed his dual spirits.
The only so-called assassination attempt Bibi Dong made was to send Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo against him, despite Ning Fengzhi, Sword Douluo, and Poison Douluo being on the opposing side—essentially offering Tang San an easy victory.
But Yang Potian had no time for these thoughts now. The Four Single-Attribute Clans meeting was fast approaching, and he suspected it would be the last of its kind.
Given the attitudes of Tai Long and Bai Xiaofei, it was clear that Tang San had reconnected with Titan and perhaps even with Bai He. Now it was just a matter of seeing which side they'd choose. If they sided with Tang San, then he'd show no mercy.
In the original story, the Min Clan had fled to the Star Luo Empire, suffering heavy losses but remaining loyal to Tang San. Now, however, they were far better off than in the original. With that improvement, perhaps their ambitions had grown too. Who wouldn't want to revive the glory of the Clear Sky Sect?
