Chapter 12: Remembering
The future parents, Goku and Bulma, were sitting quietly by a pond in the city park. The atmosphere was peaceful and quiet. Goku was watching the clouds pass by in the sky, while Bulma was deep in thought.
'I don't understand why I'm feeling jealous,' she thought. 'Goku is my friend, and the father of my future son. But that doesn't mean he can't have his own partner in the future. I love him like a friend.' Bulma stood up and started kicking the air as she spoke.
"Uh, Bulma?" Goku caught her attention by lightly touching her shoulder. "Why were you kicking the air?"
"It's nothing," Bulma replied nervously. "I was just thinking. You know, we've been on so many adventures together, but we never really have moments like this."
"Yeah, it's true," Goku said, smiling wistfully. "We had a lot of fun."
"Except for the time you attacked me with your staff and destroyed my vehicle when we first met," Bulma added wryly.
Flashback:
"You're a witch, right?!" A young Goku demanded, pointing his holy staff at a younger Bulma.
"I-I'm just a girl. Don't you know what a girl is?" Bulma asked slowly, reaching for the pistol she had hidden behind her back just in case.
"My grandfather used to say that I have to be nice to girls, but I'm sure you're a wicked witch!" The boy insisted in a threatening tone.
Flashback ends.
"HAHAHA," they both laughed loudly, remembering the moment that marked the beginning of their friendship. Who would have thought that years later, they would be the parents of a child?
"Then a dinosaur kidnapped you while they were hiding behind a bush," the young raven-haired man reminded her.
"Hey! I was really scared!" Bulma scolded him, recalling the scene with a shudder.
They chatted and reminisced about old anecdotes, enjoying their time together.
"Hey, guys!" A feminine voice called out to them a few meters away. The owner of the voice had long navy blue hair, a red scarf, a green shirt, and white shorts.
"What are you doing here?" she asked as she approached them.
"Hey, Launch!" Goku greeted her with his usual affable tone. "Well, you see, Bulma and I-"
Instantly, a pair of fingers covered his mouth, preventing him from finishing his sentence.
"I asked Goku to come with me to the mall to do some shopping," Bulma spoke nervously as she covered Goku's mouth. Goku looked confused.
The last thing Bulma wanted was for her friends to find out that she and Goku were going to be parents. She wasn't ready to give them such big news.
"Oh, now I see. Master Roshi also wanted me to do some shopping, that's why I came to the city," Launch said with a smile. "I'll pass on your regards to the others."
"Great, say hi to the others too," Bulma said, smiling. And so, they chatted for a few minutes.
"W-well, I guess you still have things to do, so we shouldn't keep you here," Bulma commented.
"Oh, I'll see you later then. Goodbye, guys," Launch said warmly before walking away.
"I think we should go home, Goku. I should save all the shopping for another time," Bulma said, rubbing her temple.
"In that case..." Goku just smiled calmly, which intrigued Bulma. "Flying cloud!" he yelled loudly.
Before she knew it, Bulma found herself in Goku's arms, soaring through the sky on his magic cloud. She was about to protest, but decided to save her words for another moment and closed her eyes, enjoying the time she was spending with her best friend.
Later that night, at Capsule Corporation:
Goku was lying on Bulma's bed, reading the book she had bought him at the mall, "How to Be a Good Father." It had been a few hours since they arrived at Capsule Corp. Bulma had put all their purchases in a warehouse, and they had eaten and chatted and laughed. Night had come as quickly as a shooting star.
Bulma was taking a shower in her room's bathroom, but before she left, she had given the book to Goku to read a few pages. She had only read a few pages herself.
"You have to support the mother with the housework, so she doesn't overexert herself and harm the baby," Goku read, looking at the illustrations.
"Should I do that?" Goku wondered, seeing a drawing of a man doing tasks such as washing dishes, sweeping the floor, and cooking, while the pregnant woman sat in an armchair, smiling pleasantly. It seemed strange to him.
"How are you doing with the book, Goku? Before you answer, I need to change. Could you leave the room?" Bulma asked, her body still damp and covered by a blue towel with a yellow sponge.
"Sure, no problem," Goku said, jumping off the bed. As he was about to leave, he saw Bulma slip. With his quick reflexes, he caught her in his arms before she could fall.
However, Bulma's towel fell off...
"Goku, close your eyes!" Bulma shouted, flushing with embarrassment. Goku obeyed without complaint and started walking with his eyes closed, until he bumped into the door.
"HAHAHA!" Bulma laughed loudly, forgetting that she was naked. Every day with Goku was a blessing to her. He always made her smile. They had a long road ahead of them.
Three months later:
Three more months had passed since that night full of laughter and emotions. Bulma was now six months pregnant, and her belly had grown even larger. She now had the appearance of a pregnant woman.
During that time, Goku was learning many things from Bulma, such as how to change diapers. Although he still hadn't mastered it, Bulma always offered to teach him. Thanks to the book she had bought him, he was able to learn quite a bit about being a father. It was only a matter of time before he got the hang of it.
Goku spent most of his time at Bulma's house. At night, he would return to Mount Paoz to sleep in his old hut and the next day, he would train for at least three hours before heading to Bulma's house.
As always, they went out to eat and walked in parks, reminiscing about funny moments. Bulma was more than happy with the changes in her life. All the doubts she had in the first months of her pregnancy had been dispelled. She was now sure that she wanted to be a mother.
Thanks to Kami, she had the support of her parents and, of course, the support of Goku, the future father of her child. Bulma watched as her best friend slowly evolved, which was a positive change.
There were still some unknowns. Bulma hadn't told her sister or her friends about the pregnancy. She didn't feel ready yet, but she knew that she would have to eventually. The truth always comes to light.
