Dragon Ball: We are... parents?

Chapter 39: Water and Love?

Mornings for Goku followed a routine.

He would train before sunrise, finishing just in time for Bulma and Bra to wake up. They had breakfast together as a family, and depending on the day, Goku would either take care of Bra while Bulma worked in her lab or run errands that Bulma assigned him.

At noon, they ate together while Bra napped in her crib.

Afternoons were spent watching movies, taking walks in the countryside, or going out as a family to explore different cities. Some days, he and Bra would fall asleep together, giving Bulma uninterrupted time to work in her lab.

At night, they would have dinner as a family. Sometimes, Goku trained while Bulma and Bra slept, and other times, he was tasked with putting Bra to bed while Bulma worked late. On certain nights, they would stay up watching TV together until they both fell asleep on the couch.

Their friends often visited, and they made sure to visit them as well, ensuring their bond with everyone remained strong.

To Goku, everything felt balanced, and he wouldn't change his life for anything.

 ----

"I'll go prepare Bra's bath. If you want, you can make dinner—" Bulma stopped mid-sentence and burst into laughter. "Wait! What am I saying? I don't want the house catching on fire at this hour! Hahaha!"

"Hey, that's not funny, Bulma," Goku pouted, pressing his index finger to his cheek.

Bulma ignored him as she picked up Bra and carried her upstairs.

"At least I didn't step in dog poop twice in a row at the park," Goku mumbled under his breath.

"I HEARD THAT!" Bulma yelled from upstairs before chucking a shoe at him.

Goku barely dodged in time, but Bulma wasn't done.

"And look who's talking! You got pooped on by a bird! Hahaha!"

Goku crossed his arms and scowled. He ran out of comebacks—until an idea struck him.

"At least I sing better than you!" he yelled. "You sound like a dying cat, Bulma!"

He smirked.

"Bet she won't say anything now."

"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY, GOKU?!"

Goku's smirk vanished instantly.

 ----

Later That Night

Goku was in the shower, warm water cascading over his body, washing away the soap and gel.

He ran a hand through his wet, raven hair, brushing it back.

For a moment, he wondered how his hair always kept the same shape—no matter how many times he trained or got wet.

His body had changed a lot over the years. His physique was strong and well-defined, yet still lean enough to maintain his speed. But what had changed the most… was his heart.

He had a girlfriend and a daughter—two people he loved more than anything. Not even in his wildest dreams did he think this kind of life was possible.

"Before, I didn't know what love was… but now I think I do. Because I love Bulma."

His gaze fell to his right hand.

"Now, I even know how to kiss."

A few months ago, if someone had asked him what a kiss meant, he would've blinked in confusion. But now? He knew exactly what to say.

"I kiss Bulma because I love her."

But… kissing also made him feel things he didn't understand.

There was something deep inside him—something that urged him to continue whenever they kissed. A feeling that pushed him to do more… as if his instincts were guiding him toward something unknown.

"I shouldn't think about this..." Goku muttered to himself, shaking his head. "Bulma's waiting for me for dinner."

Just as he was about to turn off the water—

The shower door slowly creaked open.

Goku's eyes widened in shock when he saw Bulma standing there—completely naked.

"W-What are you doing here, Bulma?!" Goku yelped, immediately shutting his eyes.

Bulma had strictly forbidden him from looking at a naked woman—something about it being wrong. He never really understood why, but for fear of her wrath, he always obeyed.

Even though he personally had no issue with nudity, he kept his eyes shut out of respect.

Bulma shifted uncomfortably.

"D-Don't ask… I just…" she hesitated, her cheeks turning red. "I just… wanted to shower with you."

Goku tilted his head slightly, still keeping his eyes closed.

"That doesn't sound like Bulma."

Bulma didn't know what she was doing.

Her body craved more than just kisses, and before she realized it, her feet had carried her into the shower.

"This is crazy… but I want to follow this instinct."

Bulma took a deep breath.

"Open your eyes, Goku," she whispered softly.

Slowly, Goku obeyed, blinking as he met her gaze.

Her blue eyes locked onto his onyx ones.

If she wanted their relationship to move forward, she had to take this step.

She had to be bold.

Bulma could feel his gaze slowly lowering… and she immediately covered her chest with her arms.

Goku looked back up at her innocently, tilting his head.

"Are you sure about this, Bulma?" he asked hesitantly.

Bulma swallowed. "O-Of course. Now come in already… standing here is awkward."

Goku nodded, forgetting to mention that he had already finished showering.

Bulma shivered slightly as the cold water hit her skin, and without thinking, she wrapped her arms around Goku from behind.

The feeling of his bare, muscular back against her chest sent a shiver down her spine.

Goku tensed slightly, his breath hitching.

Something was happening—a strange heat rising inside him. His chest felt tight, and he could feel his heartbeat in his ears.

"I love you, Goku…" Bulma whispered. "And I always will."

Goku turned around, now facing her directly.

Droplets of water trickled down their skin as they stood in silent anticipation.

"I love you too, Bulma…" Goku murmured.

Slowly, he leaned in, his lips brushing against hers.

Bulma's eyes fluttered shut as she wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing herself against him.

They deepened the kiss, sharing their love beneath the falling water.

She was ready.

This was the moment.

"Life is only lived once… if you don't enjoy every moment, there won't be time for regrets later."

She remembered her sister's words.

She wanted to do this.

But…

"Why do I feel like this?"

Doubt crept into her heart.

She suddenly pulled away, pressing her hands against his chest.

Goku looked at her in confusion.

"This is… a mistake," Bulma whispered, stepping back. "I'm sorry, Goku."

She quickly grabbed her bathrobe and left.

Goku stood there, silent as the water continued to fall over him.

He didn't understand what had just happened.

 ----

Hours Later

Goku and Bulma lay in bed, ready to sleep, while Bra rested peacefully in her crib after a long day.

Bulma had pushed the events of the shower to the back of her mind, preferring not to dwell on them. Goku, on the other hand, didn't bring it up simply because he didn't understand it. So, without discussing it, they both silently moved on.

"Tights came to see me today… and we had an argument," Bulma said suddenly, staring at the ceiling.

"Why?" Goku asked curiously. He never had siblings, but seeing how Bulma and Tights interacted, he often thought it might be nice to have one.

"Well… she thinks you and I should take another step in our relationship since we've been together for a long time. But I feel like it's still too soon, and we should wait," Bulma explained.

Goku chuckled sheepishly and sat up in bed, rubbing the back of his head.

"Honestly… I think that's my fault, hehehe."

Bulma blinked in surprise. "What do you mean?"

"Well, you know I'm not very good at relationships," Goku admitted. "You're the one who's been teaching me everything, and if we're going slow… it's probably because I'm a slow learner."

Bulma's expression softened as she gently cupped his cheek.

"Don't say that, Goku. If there's one thing I admire about you, it's how much you've changed over this past year. And seeing the person you've become makes me believe all of this has been worth it," she said with a warm smile. "Look at you… you even know how to make baby bottles now."

Goku laughed. "That's all thanks to you."

Then, his expression turned more serious. "If you really want us to go faster, I don't mind—I'll adapt. But in return, I want you to promise me something."

Bulma raised an eyebrow. "What thing?" She narrowed her eyes playfully. "If this has anything to do with food, forget it. I know that trick, and it won't work on the great Bulma!"

Goku burst into laughter. "Hahaha, it's not that!"

Then, his tone softened.

"I want you to make up with Tights. You shouldn't be fighting."

Bulma's teasing smile faded. She looked into Goku's earnest, unwavering eyes and let out a small sigh.

"I promise," she said finally.

Goku grinned as Bulma kissed his hands gently.

"Thanks for talking to me, Goku," she whispered. "I don't know what I'd do without you. Well… I'd probably just be angrier all the time."

"Hey!" Goku pouted, and Bulma laughed out loud before leaning in and planting a quick kiss on his lips—catching him completely off guard.

"Hmm?" Goku blinked in confusion.

Bulma smirked. "I figured you weren't going to kiss me goodnight, so I took the initiative."

Shaking his head with a small chuckle, Goku relaxed into the bed.

"I love you, Goku. Sleep well," Bulma murmured.

"Good night, Bulma… rest well," Goku replied with a smile, reaching over to turn off the light.

And with that, he drifted into the world of dreams.
