Chapter 129 Into jail?
After Uriel's confession the guards were left dumbstruck. Suddenly, the many precautions taken by their superiors and the warnings they received started making sense.
The higher ups of the Mapple corporation placed a light infantry unit from the combat division on every gate in the off chance that Uriel showed up, they also went through great lengths to keep everything a secret from both the army and the government alike.
Just the daily expenses of keeping some of the best trained ascended watching a location was high, but four different locations seemed too extreme. If those measures were taken to capture a heavenly rank hunter it would have been completely justified, but Uriel didn't have the noticeable signs of heavenly rank.
The only physical trait that stood out from him was his silky smooth skin, but he wasn't muscular and didn't look strong in any sense.
"Hey, are you telling the truth?" Stoneskin, the Mapple employee with a physical defense trait, managed to ask with a straight face after taking a few seconds to calm down.
"Hahaha, Nice one!" Mark laughed. "As if a wimp like you could possibly kill Mister Flanagan 'The taser'." Mark laughter died down once he realized nobody else was laughing, in fact, everyone was dead silent.
"Yes, I killed him."
"Why did you do something like that?" Asked another guard without ever taking his hand from his gun's handle.
Uriel didn't reply, he just kept staring with eyes cold as murder at the guard in front of him sending shivers down his spine.
It could be said that Uriel was out of line by confessing of a murder he, technically, didn't even commit in the first place. Even if Flanagan's demise was caused by Uriel breaking the jeweled bracelet, it was actually the nameless horrors who killed him.
The only reason why Uriel did such a thing was to make them believe he was more dangerous than he was, that way they would think twice before making trouble.
By being cooperative from the beginning and then throwing such a veiled threat Uriel led the guards to believe that the only reason they caught him was because he agreed to come with them in the first place. But in reality, Uriel and his party had no chance against them.
Nika had previously warned him about Mapple's combat division, which was different to the security division she used to run. Although the difference in power was supposedly very little, security was mostly comprised of people with utility traits, while the combat division had the majority of offensive and defensive traits. The combat division also possessed better weapons and more strategic assets.
Acting as a dangerous ascended was the only thing he could come up with to draw the attention towards him to protect his companions. Thankfully for Uriel, his stunt paid off and the rest of the trip was made in complete silence until they reached their destination.
"Excuse me, I need to put this back on or our superiors will scold us." The stoneskin guard politely addressed Uriel. In turn, he lowered his head and allowed the frightened guard to place the black bag on his head.
The next thing Uriel knew he was locked in a room, his arms restrained to a steel chair soldered to the floor under the pale light of a single LED on the ceiling. There was a one sided mirror in front of him, but other than that and the table in front of him the room was empty.
It was an interrogatory room, and a very depressing one.
'This wasn't the greeting I was expecting after coming back from an incursion.' Uriel thought inwardly.
Uriel waited for a while, but no one showed up. Instead of being angry or making a scene, he took the chance to visit his museum to keep himself entertained. It had become a habit for him to visit his museum whenever he found himself on an unpleasant location or when he was bored.
The museum was well lit, it was beautiful, spacious and, more importantly, it was the place where his artifacts were stored. Even if his physical body didn't move from the spot, his mind was allowed to move freely inside of his trait which allowed him to remain calm even in that gloomy interrogation room.
From the outside it looked as though Uriel had fell into a meditative state, making those watching him realize that their plan of breaking his spirit by leaving him alone would be fruitless. After just a couple hours passed, without Uriel showing any emotion they gave up on their attempt and a couple entered the room.
They didn't wear the security branch longcoat or the combat division suit, instead they were wearing casual clothes more fit for daily routine rather than an interrogation. The first one to enter the room was a female on her thirties, taller than the average with a luscious body. She was carrying two folding chairs and placed one in the corner and the other in front of Uriel.
"You will answer all of my questions with the truth." She said.
"Yes." Uriel replied.
"I wasn't asking, it's my trait. My name is Seiren and I'll be conducting this interrogation. My goal is to ascertain whether or not you stole from the Mapple corporation, if it turns out you did you'll be facing criminal charges, but if you're innocent you'll walk out of here a free man."
"Yes." Uriel nodded while blatantly staring at her bountiful breasts to avoid eye to eye contact, thinking her trait may be related to sight.
"My trait has nothing to do with my eyes if that's what you're thinking. It's actually related to hearing. If you lie to me, I'll be able to tell immediately." She said as she touched her pointy ears.
"I still like this view better." Uriel shamelessly replied.
"Cheeky lad! I like him." The man in the corner merrily laughed, but his laughter died when the woman glared at him.

"Let's begin." Seiren said.
