Chapter 228 A cold welcome Part 1

The first couple days after Medusa moved in were much more difficult than they had anticipated. Because of her upbringing, Medusa was completely oblivious of the responsibilities that came when cohabiting with other people and even the simplest chores were a complete challenge to her.

She didn't have the usual rotten personality of those who were raised wealthy and was actually a very kind gentle girl, but because of her inexperience she only made things worse whenever she tried to help.

Because of that, Uriel went back to college as soon as he could, something that greatly surprised Sam.

"Dude, you can't possibly be this stupid! You have the chance to live with two hot girls and you came back to the dorms!" He was outraged.

"You're free to move in and see what it's like for yourself. By the way, shouldn't you say three hot girls?"

"Luna? That midget doesn't count."

"I don't know, she's the easiest to live with, unless she's badgering me about getting a new plushie that is." Uriel sighed and continued unpacking his clothes for the week and then headed towards the library.

He wanted to say hi to Mister Scofield and also thank him for participating on his rescue. He might not have needed it, but he really enjoyed seeing Jon Hunter scared out of his wits but there was one thing he wanted to do more than anything else and that was to ask Mister Scofield about the book of the dead.

The old librarian was the most knowledgeable person he knew when it came to books and even if it was unlikely that he knew much about it, he was certain that if Mister Scofield didn't know no one would.

Much to Uriel's surprise, though, as soon as he stepped into the library he noticed something wasn't right. The amicable smile that would usually greet him whenever he visited was nowhere to be seen and instead, a grumpy old woman was sitting on Mister Scofield's seat.

"Excuse me." Uriel said, but the woman kept scrolling through her phone without so much as looking towards him. He then faked a cough trying to call for her attention, but she scolded him and pointed to the sign behind her that read 'quiet please'.

There were several possibilities, maybe he went out for tea or coffee, maybe he had errands to run and asked someone to take his place since he would never leave the library unattended, but then he noticed the name tag on the woman that identified the woman as Gertrude, the chief librarian.

Uriel then went to the humanities faculty building to speak to Professor Pangiotis about the exploration, but he found out that he was unavailable due to being submerged on a new project which was, most likely, related to the dungeon affairs.

He pondered for a few minutes on where to go next, since he was on the second semester of his first year all he had to do to pass the grade was to choose at least one specialization and be approved by his tutor. Something that, thanks to Nika being his tutor, was easy as pie.

"Lamar, Fermi or Charlie..." He muttered as he tried to decide what class should he attend but he didn't even know their schedules. "Ah! Why does this have to be so difficult!?"

The dungeon exploration wasn't as quick as he expected initially and didn't inform his teachers that he would probably be unreachable which meant they all must be thinking he wasn't interested on their specializations, with the exception of Charlie who defended the outpost when he stayed the night.

Between Fermi and Lamar, he felt Fermi would be the most understanding about his situation and since he didn't want to deal with complicated stuff he decided to go to his workshop.

"Professor Fermi, are you there?" Uriel knocked on the door.

"Uriel? What are you doing here?" Amy, the second year student he met during an incursion opened the door.

"You're taking Fermi's class? I thought you were following the field medic specialization."

"I'm hanging out with Connor."

A flash of light and a buzzing sound indicated that someone was soldering and Uriel quickly stepped inside the workshop.

"What's up." Connor said as he lifted his soldering mask, which in turn gave Uriel an idea.

'There might be a way for Medusa to participate on Fermi's lectures after all, but for that we'll need his approval.' Uriel thought to himself.

Thinking that Uriel resented him for how he treated him during their past incursion, Connor dropped what he was doing and walked towards Uriel.

"About last time, I'm sorry if I went too hard on you. I just get moody during incursions."

"Don't worry about that. What are you doing?" Uriel asked after seeing the pile of scrap metal Connor had been working on.

"I brought back what was left of Blublu and now I'm repairing it."

"More like building it from scratch." Amy giggled, triggering yet another wonderful idea that might be the solution to many of the problems he had.

He still had a lot of things to sort out before even bringing it up to Medusa, but he didn't want to miss the physical training class and headed towards the gym.

There, Captain Silvermane stood imposing as always in front of the students, though Uriel didn't feel intimidated by his presence like he used to and rapidly joined the students that were taking laps around the race track.

Since it was mandatory, Uriel passed completely unnoticed which annoyed him a little. He went awol for a long period of time but everything kept going without him. Even without Mister Scofield, someone he deemed as the corner stone of his college experience, people simply moved on and the world kept spinning.

He got so focused on his own thoughts, he didn't pay attention to how fast he was running.

"Hey, You! Yes, you! This is the ascended rank class, the heavenly rank class takes place in the afternoon."

"What? Instructor Silvermane, I'm an ascended and I've been attending this class since the first semester." Surprisingly, Uriel found himself speaking casually to the person he used to be so afraid of.

"Huh? State your name." Captain Silverman said as he passed the pages on his notepad with the list of students.

"My name is Uriel Sage." His answer caused the Captain to drop the notepad, the students who heard him gasped exaggeratedly and then silence was made.
