Chapter 29: 28. The chosen path
Despite the fact that Ophis doesn't care about the lives of the Khaos Brigade members, she continues to show up at their meetings and share bits of her own power. However, not everyone can be honored with the opportunity to obtain a power-up. The girl limited the number of snakes she could give out at a time. The Infinite Dragon God no longer cared about how candidates were chosen from the many factions. Let them fight to the death for this opportunity — that's their problem.
— Wait, Ophis, — a voice stopped her when she was about to go home. — I have something to talk to you about.
A white-haired teenager, accompanied by his group, approached the slightly irritated girl. He caught the moment when Ouroboros, in his usual manner, disappeared right after the end of the meeting to address her.
— Speak quickly, Vali, — she said impatiently. Hitori should have arrived at their home by now. — I still have things to do.
— Okay. You can tell Silence that I want to meet him.
— Why? — As soon as she heard the name of her beloved, the dragon's mood changed abruptly. — What do you want from Silence, the bearer of Albion?
— The answer is obvious — I want to fight him, — Vali declared with a smile. — I heard rumors that he can already destroy a third of a large city with one attack.
— Ha! — Ophis only grinned. Sai had been thinking about fighting someone other than the heir of Bael for some time. She created a communication circle. — Busy? The current hakuryoku wants to fight you here. Okay, — Having finished the conversation, the girl looked at the blond man waiting for her answer. — He agrees to do it right now. If you is ready, I will teleport you to him, otherwise do not bother me anymore.
— Okay, — having received confirmation from his comrades, the guy agreed. — You can send.
— Vali, — when a magic circle with an infinity sign had already appeared under their group, Ouroboros spoke with undisguised murderous intent, — I hope you haven't thought of anything stupid. Otherwise, you'll wish for it very much.
— You don't need to worry, — Vali answered, overcoming his fear, before disappearing.
Having sent the group, Ophis grinned at her own actions. Of course, she valued Silence very much, but the young man was not a porcelain figurine. He was a strong young dragon with many trump cards in his arsenal, so her threats to this combat maniac were unnecessary.
Throwing aside extraneous thoughts, Ouroboros moved to her lair. There, on the couch, the guitarist was already sitting, lost in thought.
— I'm back, Hitori, — the dragon sat down next to the girl, pressing close to her and hugging her. — So what did you want to talk to me about?
— Hello, Ophis. I... — she hesitated a little at first, but took a deep breath and pulled herself together. — I want to discuss something with you.
— Okay. I'm listening carefully.
— I want to become stronger. I don't like that in case of danger I constantly have to ask you for help. I don't want to bother you, so — the girl glanced at the blue cocoon to the side — can you also make me a dragon?
— Hitori, — Ouroboros said tenderly, hugging her friend tighter. — Silence and I have never considered and will never consider you a burden. We will gladly come to the rescue, so you don't need to become strong. Especially losing your humanity for this.
— No. I don't want to remain a helpless girl anymore! — The Dragon God saw unwavering determination in Hitori's eyes. — I understand what my actions entail. In the future, it will be too difficult for me to interact with people because of my nature. While others will gradually begin to age, I will remain as young as ever. Although my parents are already older than me and will pass away sooner, and watching Futari gradually wither will cause a lot of pain, but... — she looked at Ophis with hope, — you will stay by my side, right?
— Oh, of course! — Unable to bear the sad look of the pink-haired girl, Ouroboros pressed her head to her chest. — We will never leave you, little one. And if you decide to become a dragon, then you will definitely not escape from us.
— Ha-ha-ha! I will not even try. So... will you make me a dragon?
— I can, but the problem is in your mechanism and abilities. Vritra, what do you say?
"I have already restored my previous powers, so it is better for me to begin the girl's dragonization, — the voice from the glove that appeared on the guitarist's hand answered. — However, the mechanism may prevent my other abilities from manifesting in her body. After all, the "Restrictive Field" was originally designed for only a part of my soul with one aspect of power. Can you somehow fix this, Ophis?"
— I am not a scientist, — she shook her head. — My capabilities in this are limited. I am afraid of breaking this toy because of a wrong decision.
— What should I do?
"Will you be able to get me out of here?"
— If it were any other mechanism, no, but thanks to the dragon imprisoned inside, I can do it. However, the biblical one created a magnificent prison. I will have to leave a piece of your soul inside in order to free you.
"If this helps me get back into my body, I will gladly endure as much pain as necessary — soul damage is a painful process, but Vritra will not be stopped by such a thing. — In that case, I'll start changing Hitori, and you'll pull me out after that. Let's try to leave particles with all my abilities inside. If you can't influence the sacred gear that way, then do the same trick as with Silence. Then all my abilities will be assimilated with the girl's soul, allowing her to use them. I'll gladly teach her, making her my successor."
— The choice is yours, Hitori.
***
Before Ophis contacted him, Silence was spending time with Hachiman and his funny acquaintance Zaimakuzu. They were already planning to go their separate ways, so the dragon left them without any problems, teleporting to a forgotten dimension. Crom Cruach's training ground is best suited for a good fight without restrictions.
A minute after his beloved's call, he felt a familiar presence. It was this presence that the young man felt when he was looking for a magic teacher. A small group of five people appeared ten meters ahead. It was led by a teenager, from whom demonic, dragon and human scents could be felt. The already familiar sorceress with a guy similar to her, most likely the aforementioned brother. An impudent lustful cat and a cheerful ōkai-monkey.
— I have long wanted to meet the infamous "Dragon of Silence", — Vali greeted him. — I am Vali Lucifer, the owner of the dividing mechanism. And these are my comrades, — the guy pointed at each in turn, — Arthur Pendragon, his sister Le Fay, Biko and Kuroko.
— Silence Ouroboros, nice to meet you, — the dragon smiled, baring his fangs. — Your offer was unexpected, but successful. I have heard many interesting things about Albion and the previous Hakuryuu, so I am happy to fight you.
— You will not be disappointed, — the heir of the Monkey King intervened in their conversation. — Vali is strong.
"He's right, young dragon. Vali, the strongest of my hosts."
— Albion, — Sai turned his gaze to the energy wings behind the blond. — Is your rivalry with Ddraig that strong?
"What do you mean?"
— Not only has I Ddraig Goh become a titty dragon, — the young man complained with a sigh, — but now you're known as an ass dragon. Oh, how the Great Ones have fallen!
"Valiiiiii!!! — the disappointed dragon howled from the depths of his soul. — For what?!"
— Odin, the bastard! — Lucifer's great-grandson shouted angrily. — All his stupid jokes! Why did he blurt out such nonsense then?
During the incident with Loki's attack, when he helped confront the god, Odin, having fun at the expense of the stupid Hedo, called him an oppai dragon rival and gave him this ridiculous nickname. Vali decided to ignore this nonsense, but no one expected such a nickname to stick, and part of the blame lies with Issei. If his rival did not have such a twisted nature, then no one would have attached such a ridiculous name to him.
— Ha-ha! Don't you want to, like that laughing stock, declare your love for buttocks? Feel someone's ass in public? I think that cat over there wouldn't mind if you laid your hands on it.
— I don't mind, nya! — Kuroka jumped up to the seething guy. — If you promise to make me kittens, then I agree to it.
— Enough! — The platinum blond shouted. He couldn't stand this mockery any longer. — Don't compare me to that weakling! I'm Hakuryuu, not some buttock dragon!!!
— Ha-ha-ha! Good. You've raised my spirits, now we can fight.
— Bastard. Balance Breaker, Divine Dividing Scaled Armor, — having donned the armor, Vali immediately used his usual technique. — Division!
— It's dangerous, — Sai became more serious when he watched with his activated gaze the cloud of dragon aura return to the hakuryoku after it overcame the dragon's passive defense and took some of the energy for itself. Increasing the concentration of his aura, the young man created black armor. — Try doing it again.
— Division, — not wanting to lose the opportunity, the blond activated the mechanism again, but did not achieve the desired effect. — What? Why couldn't I do it?
Having already seen the ability and knowing its capabilities, Silence successfully resisted the power of the dividing mechanism.
— It didn't work? — the dragon asked mockingly. — Don't worry, I heard that guys sometimes have this. Take a pill and ask Kuroko to help.
"Calm down, partner, and listen to me, — Albion took the floor instead of the demon. — Surprisingly, this guy really does have an aura. I shouldn't have believed the fallen one. Well, his ability can block, while mine can divide. Unfortunately, at the moment you don't have enough strength to overcome his ability, so using the division aspect on him will be pointless."
— It doesn't matter. I've never relied on just one trick. Let's go!
Hakuryuu rushed to meet the raised fist. In just an instant, he overcame the meters separating them to face the counter blow. Unexpectedly for himself, Vali felt how the enemy's strength turned out to be higher than himself.
— Crom Cruach is training me, — Silence grinned bloodthirstily, creating a dagger in his hand to attack. — Do you really think I'm that simple?
— Don't get cocky! — with a wave of his hand, magic circles appeared next to the blond.
— Norse magic? Good skills, but... — exactly the same circles appeared next to the dragon, but several times larger in number — I can do much better.
Division! Division! Division!
Although Silence was immune to this, the same cannot be said about his magic. With each use of the dividing mechanism, all the projectiles gradually decreased until they completely disappeared. And Vali's magic, having collided with Sai's armor, simply disappeared.
— Ha-ha-ha!
— Aha-ha-ha!
Realizing the futility of long-range attacks, the two battle maniacs met in close combat. Each had a trump card in their hands, but it would take time to activate it, which no one would give them.
"How unpleasant, — Silence admitted to himself, slowly losing his concentration. — I never thought that I would hate the dragon aura. Damn Albion with its division."
Normally, the young dragon would create a —realm of emptiness—, but this technique has its drawbacks. First, there is an obvious limitation in radius. Once the target leaves the sphere, it will not approach on its own. Because of which he will have to turn off the ability, and it will not be possible to create it again immediately — it is too difficult. The second disadvantage is the high cost of aura. The more aspects Sai wants to block, the more he will have to spend for this. Vali is a very unpleasant enemy in this case. He has magic, high demonic power, a holy gear and a dragon aura. And the last factor is the enemy's strength. The more powerful the enemy, the weaker the effect on him.
— If this is all you have, I am disappointed, — the dragon stopped in place, looking at Vali with disdain. — I will give you a head start. Show what the strongest bearer of Albion is capable of.
The teenager looked with some suspicion at the dragon standing with his arms crossed, but really decided to prepare a more powerful attack. Even if his opponent was planning something, Vali was confident that he would crush him.
— Dimension Halving, — he concentrated his power in one point, preparing to use the strongest technique besides Juggernaut Drive. — Take that!
The second a powerful attack was aimed at him, Sai released a third of the aura around himself. The blocking property stabilized the space around him. Immediately after the ability ended, Ouroboros flew out of the dark cloud on its powerful wings. Its body was no longer constrained by the aura, since most of it was spent on the strongest magic he created.
— Enkidu! — Two anthracite chains flew out from his outstretched palms at Vali. As if alive, they entangled their target, unable to escape at such a close distance. — Gotcha.
— Do you really think that this will stop me?
— Yes, — with a smile of victory, Silence pulled the chains, causing cracks to appear on Hakuryuu's armor. — It was not for nothing that I named the spell that way.
— I... I am the one who is about to awaken, — despite the slow destruction of the balance breaker, the blond did not give up. — The Heavenly Dragon sta...
— This is the end!
Spikes appeared on the links of the chains, destroying the last resistance of the armor and digging into the demon's flesh. Upon contact with the skin, the blocking effect fell on Vali like a heavy burden, preventing him from continuing his attempt to activate Juggernaut. The guy fell to the ground, exhausted.
— Ha... Ha... Ha... It's been a long time... I haven't exerted myself like this. Ha... — the dragon said with heavy breathing. — I need to rest, so I'm going home. If you want to repeat, then contact me by phone. Bye.
