Chapter 2500: The Start
With only a minute or so remaining before the tournament truly came to a start, Alex closed his eyes to go through every single ingredient and learn about them in detail.
The 5 Major ingredients were certainly quite great, but the 15 Minor ingredients were not bad either. Eight of them were Saint ingredients, but the rest were indeed Immortal ingredients, making them quite strong.
They had a variety of elemental energy, including even the sub-elemental energies like lightning, wind, and ice.
The knowledge he went through of the ingredients wasn't just his own understanding of them but also the vast knowledge that was within the Alchemy God's knowledge. With the mix of the two, there was not a single thing he didn't know about these ingredients when considering knowledge alone.
Practically, it would need more than just the knowledge of the ingredients to turn them into pills, however.
Alex went through one ingredient after another in what felt like a very short time. He relayed the information of all of the ingredients within his mind before he heard the Alchemy God's words.
"You have two days to make three new pills as quickly as possible. You may now begin."
As soon as he said those words, the world around Alex went silent, and even a slightly translucent barrier came up around him to stop him from getting distracted by the outer world.
The competition had begun, so now it was time for him to do his best.
Alex closed his eyes and began meditating. Unlike others who had two days, he had an extra five hours. He was going to make ample use of them.
This time would not only be for the three recipes he had to figure out but also for the other recipes he would have to find. Considering how many alchemists remained in the tournament, he wondered if he would have to make ten different recipes.
It was quite easy to create recipes for a new pill. But it was very difficult to do so while making sure the pills were of any value. The main problem here was no doubt that the alchemist who made the recipe needed to know what the pill did in the first place.
When they prepared the recipe, they would have to write its effects down as well.
Alex soon began calculating how each ingredient interacted with the others, trying to see which ones fit together. He noticed how some ingredients seemed to fit together, while others refused to work together at all.
For example, if one were to use the Carnelian Assault Boar's Tusk powder for its Fire energy and blood aura, using the Red Thornheart Vine along with it made perfect sense as it helped add to the fire and blood aspects of the tusk powder.
However, if one were to use the same powder with Winter Heart Bamboo Water instead, something that had both Water and Yin elements to it, it would only destroy what was good about the tusk, so it could not be used in succession.
An hour had passed by the time Alex found several of these minor combinations that he either needed to keep together or not use together at all.
Slowly, the combinations began forming in his mind as he added more and more ingredients, seeing which worked with which. As he did, his mind naturally began grouping ingredients that would work together.
Even Alex was surprised by how easily he had done this. It had been a while since he had sat down and sought to make a new pill recipe, so he hadn't realized just how much he had improved.
'It's not just that I have improved, but my mind has grown clearer for this stuff too,' Alex thought. It was no doubt a side effect of what had happened a week ago.
Upon completely devouring the soul of a Divinity, even though the Divinity itself was quite weak, Alex had seen ample benefits from it.
He hadn't realized it the very first day after devouring Dumei since he hadn't fully recovered both in body and mind, but in the next few days, he had noticed the changes in his mind. Discover more stories at My Virtual Library Empire
His Spiritual energy, which was usually lower in quantity due to his Spiritual Conjunction pill, was now vast once again, matching what a cultivator of his cultivation base would have.
However, instead of the spiritual energy getting thinner, it had instead become far thicker, becoming stronger than it ever was.
Since he recovered from that day, Alex had found his Spiritual energy alone to be equivalent to an Immortal Transcendent third realm cultivator. That was even a step above what his cultivation base could achieve.
With that sort of Spiritual energy, Alex now had an easier time with everything that required it, including the current situation.
Thanks to that improvement, he had grown as an Alchemist yet again.
Alex's mind began connecting the obvious threads and putting together a list of ingredients that would work together. He had to put a bit more conscious thought into ordering them and seeing what steps he would have to take to form a recipe.
He began going through it one at a time, his mind split into two sections at the moment.
One half of his mind focused on the energy within the ingredient while the other half focused on what the energy did.
'Start with Heavenly Mountain Grass and extract the Wood energy. Follow it with the Evergreen Wood Bark to add more Wood energy to it. Then the Coalfire Leaves introduce Fire energy that takes advantage of the Wood energy to grow. I will need to use a lot of it so the Wood energy doesn't remain anymore. No, wait, the Fire energy is too strong now. I need to pull it back a little. I need Water or Metal. The Frostbloom Petals should do a good job of lowering the Fire energy by just the right amount.'
The half that focused on the energy alone went ahead strong as it was easy to figure out the interaction between energies at this point.
The other part was not so easy, however.
'The Heavenly Mountain Grass and the Evergreen Wood Bark both have a flourishing and blooming nature. They will improve the effect of whatever comes next. The Coalfire Leaves have a slightly destructive aspect to them, which can be improved by the nature of the previous two ingredients. If eaten alone, it can cause a form of poisoning. The Frostbloom Petal is good at making the effects of the fire submit a little. It is also not good on its own, so the effects of the two should create some sort of interference so that only the good parts come out. With these two in a sort of harmony of their own, I should add a major ingredient right here. And that should be…'
The two halves of his mind progressed simultaneously, each in contact with the other one, making sure that they were both progressing at the same time.
Should a dissonance occur, both halves of his mind would take a step back and see where the error occurred. Fixing what could be fixed, he would continue on until he had the entire recipe in his mind.
