Chapter 442: Su Yen is dead?
Bang! Bang!
Deafening sounds echoed through the air as dust rose to the sky, and the trembling ground split into deep craters lined with spider web-like cracks.
The chaos was suffocating, with deadly, sharp winds filling the atmosphere. Yet, the one responsible for this terrifying scene seemed indifferent.
Su Yen wore a solemn expression as he battled against the third specter in the sacred land.
The second specter had been manageable, and Su Yen had sent it to the afterlife without much difficulty. But this third one was a completely different beast.
The specter was a birdman with a wingspan of ten meters, each feather as sharp and durable as a sword.
Moreover, the birdman's movement skills were extraordinary. Even though Su Yen prided himself on having comprehended the space dao, against this birdman, his spatial abilities seemed insufficient.
Despite Su Yen's pagoda bloodline, which suppressed enemies in battle, the birdman escaped its grip within seconds and retaliated with terrifying sword-like attacks.
High in the sky, Su Yen and the birdman exchanged hundreds of attacks in mere seconds.
He dared not lose focus, knowing that even a momentary lapse could result in his death.
"Chaotic Sword Strike – Third Form!"
The sword strike was chaotic and without form, leaving only destruction in its wake.
The birdman smirked, his wings glowing faintly as he moved.
Whoosh!
Like a bolt of lightning, the birdman weaved through the devastating sword strike, evading it by mere inches.
Watching this display of agility, Su Yen sucked in a cold breath and vanished from his spot, leveraging his spatial abilities to reappear near his opponent.
As the birdman attempted to escape the chaotic sword strike, Su Yen intercepted him mid-flight with another deadly attack: "Sword Burial – Second Strike!"
The birdman's calm demeanor cracked. He hadn't anticipated Su Yen to change his battle style so abruptly.
But as an ancient expert who had fought in the great wars of old, he was prepared for surprises.
Swiftly, he positioned his wings as a shield in front of him.
Bang! Bang!
The force of the attack sent the birdman retreating several meters, his face now filled with dread.
'How could a mere Saint Realm human possess such power?!' he wondered for the umpteenth time.
Despite his fear, he recovered quickly and prepared to retaliate, only to realize, to his dismay, that Su Yen had already appeared behind him.
"Chaotic Void Strike – Second Form!"
Each of Su Yen's sword strikes was more terrifying than the last.
Danger!
The birdman's eyes widened as he attempted to retreat. But to his confusion, the anticipated sword attack never came. Then, a sudden sense of crisis hit him from behind.
Boom!
'I've been tricked!'
That was his final thought before he was sent flying, a miserable shriek escaping his mouth as one of his massive wings was cleaved off.
He crashed to the ground, leaving a deep crater.
As a specter, such a loss was catastrophic. His form flickered and dimmed, teetering on the edge of vanishing entirely.
Struggling to rise, the birdman watched in horror as Su Yen appeared before him, his sword gleaming with heart-rending killing intent.
"Human… Let's—"
Bang!
Su Yen didn't care to hear what the birdman had to say. His sword strike landed, silencing the specter.
Ahhhh!
Already gravely injured, the birdman barely clung to existence. But with this final attack, his spectral form dissolved into nothingness, leaving only shock and unwillingness etched on his face.
"Finally…" Su Yen muttered, letting out a long sigh of relief.
The battle had taken its toll, not just on his physical body but also on his mental state.
Throughout the fight, he'd been on high alert, knowing one mistake could cost him his life.
Though victorious, Su Yen recognized his weaknesses during the battle.
His attacks, though powerful, were still inadequate against ancient monsters.
He also lacked sophisticated spatial skills for both movement and defense.
However, he was optimistic. The treasures hidden within these ancient tombs could hold the techniques he needed to address his shortcomings.
With his thoughts in order, Su Yen turned his gaze toward the massive tomb in the distance.
It wasn't particularly ornate, but the statue of the birdman standing guard was intimidating.
After the birdman's death, Su Yen casually strolled into the tomb. The tomb contained only a few rooms, but the resources within surpassed what he'd found in the previous tombs.
At the center of the tomb hovered a massive coffin, suspended a few meters above the ground. Su Yen glanced at the coffin but decided to ignore it.
Exiting the tomb, a bright smile spread across his face.
In the deepest part of the tomb, he had found three rare techniques—one of which was the birdman's movement skill: Ten Thousand Lightning Steps.
"If I can integrate my space principles into this movement skill, I'll be unstoppable," he mused, eager to begin comprehending the technique.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, the space around him trembled, and a massive spatial tear appeared. Without hesitation, Su Yen used Blink and vanished from his spot.
By now, Su Yen had spent hours in the sacred land and had learned to navigate its chaotic environment.
Spatial tears mostly appeared near tombs, while the rest of the land was plagued only by sharp wind blades.
Whoosh!
Reappearing hundreds of meters from the birdman's tomb, Su Yen pressed onward. After traveling another fifty meters, he spotted another tomb in the distance.
This tomb was unusual, resembling a grand palace. Intrigued, Su Yen approached, eager to uncover its secrets.
As he neared the entrance, a spectral figure materialized—a woman. Her cold gaze fixed on Su Yen.
"Die!"
Raising her palm, she unleashed a casual strike. But to Su Yen, it was far from casual.
A heavy pressure descended upon him, threatening to crush him into mincemeat.
"Get lost!" Su Yen roared, countering with a sword strike: "Blood Severance!"
Whoosh!
The sword strike cleaved through the incoming palm attack and continued toward the spectral woman.
But instead of the deafening collision Su Yen expected, the strike veered sharply upon hitting a transparent shield, turning back toward him at breathtaking speed.
Bang!
Caught off guard, Su Yen was struck and sent flying, crashing into the distance. A deep gash tore across his chest, blood gushing out like a broken dam.
"Tsk!"
The woman scoffed disdainfully before retreating into her tomb.
As for Su Yen, his condition remained unknown.
