Even Hell’s Affairs Depend on Gold – I Got Fired, but I’ve Acquired an Alchemy Cheat Skill, So I’m Aiming for a Major Life Turnaround

Volume 1 Chapter 115

“Yoshino-san, Rin-san, can I talk to you both before we start our adventure?”

I gave Nanapon a signal to start our plan.

“What is it?”

“Is there something else?”

Both of them turned to me, giving Nanapon the chance to move behind Yoshino-san.

“I was wondering, what does Kaede-chan think of me?”

I didn’t really want to know, but I couldn’t think of any other topic.

“I don’t know.”

“Not interested.”

Both of them dismissed my question outright. Well, that was expected.

“You both know Kaede-chan, right?”

“I’ve known her since my adventurer days.”

“I know her too. Haven’t talked much though…”

Rin-san didn’t seem to have interacted much with Kaede-chan.

“What was she like?”

“Well, if you ask me…”

“She seemed to have good communication skills.”

Nanapon was staring intently at Yoshino-san’s bag. It was quite obvious. She even squinted occasionally. From my perspective, it was suspicious. However, they were focused on me and didn’t notice… or so I thought, until Yoshino-san suddenly reached back and grabbed Nanapon’s neck.

“Ow!”

Nanapon yelped as she was grabbed.

“What’s this, Nanapon? What are you doing?”

Yoshino-san released Nanapon’s neck.

“Cough! Just admiring your nice bag…”

“Really?”

Yoshino-san held her bag while asking Rin-san.

“Earlier, something similar happened to me. Okita-kun distracted me while Nanaka was staring at my bag.”

They noticed!

“No, no, what are you talking about?”

“Yeah, we haven’t done anything.”

Sure, sure.

“Hmm… Clairvoyance?”

Uh-oh!

“It’s not that, right, Nanapon?”

“Right?”

“Yes, it’s not.”

See?

“So you wanted to peek at my status card?”

“No, that’s not it. Trust us.”

“Okita-kun, it’s too obvious. You should stop.”

Rin-san said in an exasperated tone. Not good.

“Was it that obvious?”

“Yes. When one person talks and the other sneaks behind, it’s suspicious. Also, we have a skill to sense presence. We can tell what someone is doing even behind us.”

Sneaky.

“Alright, Nanapon, what about Yoshino-san?”

I asked plainly since we were caught.

“She has perfect memory.”

I looked at Yoshino-san.

“Correct. I told you.”

Seems like she does have perfect memory. I thought she wasn’t lying.

“Nanapon, can’t you make it more natural? You’re too obvious.”

“Item bags are hard to see through.”

Is that so? What to do…

“Both of you, stand there for a minute.”

I instructed Yoshino-san and Rin-san.

“Do we have to?”

“What’s going to happen?”

They followed my instructions and stood still. They weren’t moving much anyway.

“Nanapon, come here.”

“Yes.”

I gestured for Nanapon, who was behind them, to come to my side.

“Wear your sunglasses.”

“Like this?”

Nanapon put on unflattering sunglasses.

“Can you see their status cards from here?”

We were about two meters away from Yoshino-san and Rin-san.

“Wait a moment.”

Nanapon looked at them. From the side, her gaze was hidden by the sunglasses.

“Barely visible.”

“What’s Yoshino-san’s level?”

“42.”

Quite high compared to us.

“Is that right?”

I confirmed with Yoshino-san.

“Yes.”

Her perfect memory seems accurate. Good, she wasn’t lying.

“Nanapon, couldn’t you make it look more normal? You were staring too hard.”

“Item bags are difficult to see into.”

Well, that’s a problem.

“Okay, you two, that’s enough. Thanks.”

I said, and Nanapon took off her sunglasses and put them away.

“What were you trying to do?”

Yoshino-san asked, tilting her head.

“I was testing if Nanapon’s heightened Clairvoyance could peek into others’ status cards. Knowing someone’s unique skill is a big advantage.”

“Hmm, Nanapon’s Clairvoyance has levels?”

“What about yours?”

“I don’t have levels.”

Unique skills vary.

“Nanapon, whisper to me.”

Nanapon whispered, pulling my sleeve.

“What?”

She whispered, and I bent down to her height.

“Is it okay with Rin-san here?”

“She’s ignoring this. Doesn’t want to be involved in troubles.”

“Is that okay?”

“She’s a married adventurer without lingering attachment to adventuring.”

Nanapon whispered, and I replied normally. Yoshino-san and Rin-san looked puzzled.

“Is she married? And still adventuring?”

“Ask her yourself.”

“Isn’t Rin-san scary? Like a killer, like you.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

R

in-san is kind. A contrast to her stern face.

“I get it. Rin was suddenly with a boyfriend, then married.”

Yoshino-san nodded in agreement.

“What’s this conversation? What’s happening?”

I don’t know!
