Chapter 252: **Chapter 251: The River**
**Beaten like a dog!**
These four words flashed through the minds of Mabui and the Fourth Raikage.
"Forget it!" Raikage quickly changed the topic.
Although he was brave, he wasn't a fool.
A fool wouldn't be able to become Raikage.
What good would come from clashing with the Mist Village right now?
It could end up with a three-way attack from different villages: Mist, Fire, and Leaf.
On top of that, Onoki would likely get involved as well.
"Where's Killer Bee?"
Raikage asked in a deep voice, "Has he been behaving recently?"
Mabui's expression was hard to describe.
Veins bulged on Raikage's forehead again.
"He's causing trouble again?"
Mabui sighed, "I've given up. As long as he stays in the village, I don't ask for anything more."
Mabui's words were filled with helplessness.
She had long lost hope in dealing with him.
People said Uchiha Itsuki was a strange person, but to Mabui, Killer Bee wasn't much different.
Raikage clenched his teeth, "Didn't I say there's a group hunting tailed beasts? Can't he behave for once?"
Mabui shrugged, "Besides your orders, do you think Killer Bee listens to anyone? Even with your commands, he often forgets them as soon as you turn away."
"Hmph!"
The Fourth Raikage snorted coldly, "Then I'll make sure he remembers this time."
Mabui smirked, watching Raikage walk away.
*Killer Bee, after all the trouble you've caused, it's time to taste the Iron Fist of the Raikage.*
But…
Looking at the map of the ninja world, and then at the intelligence reports, Mabui sighed deeply.
The rise of the Fire Village was unstoppable, and now, the Leaf Village was also stirring things up.
*When it rains, it pours.*
If only they had stayed like before. But now, not only did they resist, they even managed to tear a piece off the Cloud Village.
Mabui felt speechless.
Looking at the line formed by Sand, Fire, and Mist, she started to wonder if she should start thinking about her own clan.
---
"Bang!"
Two figures slammed into the ground.
One of them quickly got up, dusted off their clothes, and acted like nothing had happened.
*Buzz!*
Black Zetsu appeared.
After glancing at Nagato lying on the ground, a strange look crossed his face before he turned to Obito, who was standing there acting cool.
"Obito, your performance was disappointing."
Black Zetsu's voice was full of blame, "You knew you were in bad shape, so why did you go after Uchiha Itsuki?"
*Almost got beaten to death, are you happy now?*
"Hmph!"
Obito snorted, "I admit, I underestimated Uchiha Itsuki. But next time, I'll take him down."
"That might not happen."
"What?"
"Uchiha Itsuki might have the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan."
Obito froze, then growled, "Shisui?"
"Yes."
Black Zetsu sighed, "We forgot Uchiha Itsuki has a brother with the same bloodline. And he's a descendant of Kagami, one of the Uchiha clan's high-ranking members. He may have even seen the Uchiha tablet underground."
His eyes glinted strangely.
*If Itsuki saw the tablet, could he become another Madara?*
*If Uchiha Itsuki cooperates, my plans will be so much easier.*
"No wonder he's so strong!"
Obito ground his teeth.
It all made sense now.
Uchiha Itsuki had been nearly invincible since stepping onto the ninja world stage.
Even when Hiruzen SaruObito gathered many powerful allies to trap him, Itsuki easily escaped.
Obito had thought it was luck. But now, he realized, *It wasn't luck. It was power—real power!*
"What should we do now?"
Black Zetsu felt helpless.
"What can we do?"
Obito coldly replied, "If he has the Eternal Mangekyō, so what? I won't fear him once I fully control these Rinnegan eyes."
*Yeah, sure…*
Black Zetsu felt exasperated.
*Fully control the Rinnegan?*
Nagato hadn't managed that in decades, and Obito thought he could do it?
Plus, let's be honest, Obito might be a genius—he did awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan after a major trauma—but he still fell short compared to Nagato.
---
A young man wearing a blue haori, with brown bangs covering his left eye, was casually sitting in a tree, blowing bubbles.
Suddenly, his expression tightened, and he became alert.
"Who's there?"
Footsteps echoed as Kisame Hoshigaki and Jūzō Biwa appeared, sizing him up.
"So, you're the Six-Tails?"
At this, the man's relaxed face turned cold.
"Who are you?"
"It seems we've found the right person."
Kisame chuckled, turning to Jūzō, "This one's yours, right?"
"Of course!"
Jūzō grinned, "You've already captured the Four-Tails. Akatsuki's rules are clear—each of us gets one tailed beast. Don't steal my share."
He approached the Six-Tails' jinchūriki, Utakata, who gave a chilling smile.
Utakata wasn't one to joke around, and his expression turned menacing.
"You're asking for death!"
*Boom!*
A fierce explosion rocked the area.
The first wielder of the Executioner's Blade, a member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, faced off against the disaster-level Six-Tails jinchūriki.
Kisame sat on a cliff, watching the battle unfold below, uninterested in the fight.
His trust in Jūzō was strong.
After all, they were comrades from the Mist Village, both members of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, and they shared similar views.
He trusted Jūzō to capture the Six-Tails, even though Utakata was a jinchūriki.
---
"Report!"
A Rain Village ninja rushed into the office.
"What's the news?"
Itsuki looked curiously at the excited Rain ninja.
Nagato rarely showed himself in the Rain Village.
Most things were handled by Konan.
That's why it wasn't difficult for Itsuki to rise to power as the leader of the Rain Village.
Most people didn't even know the leader's face.
Konan said it didn't matter who led, as long as they had power and money.
"The river!"
The ninja exclaimed, "We've finished digging the river!"
"The river?"
Itsuki was taken aback, "You mean the river from the Rain Village to the Sand Village? It's finished?"
"Yes!"
The ninja's voice brimmed with pride.
"This…"
"Wasn't it said that it would take at least another six months?" Itsuki asked in surprise.
"I helped!" A clear, elegant voice responded.
Konan!
"You..." Itsuki questioned suspiciously, "Did you use explosive tags?"
"Nope!" Konan smiled and shook her head. "I can fly, so I helped them plan a better route, and besides..." She trailed off without finishing.
Itsuki looked confused but didn't ask further. "As long as it's done. The water from Amegakure can now flow out, and with less rainfall in the future, it might reduce the amount overall."
But if the water levels drop, will there still be as much water in the future?
The group arrived at the river.
They saw a narrow stream, just about two meters wide, but it was steadily draining the water from Amegakure.
The land beneath Amegakure, which experiences constant rainfall, was saturated with an astonishing amount of water.
While digging the river, they stayed several hundred meters away from the village, or else the diggers would have had to swim constantly in the river.
Itsuki and the group followed the river's flow and soon entered the land of Sunagakure.
Pakura was there with a group, waiting.
For such an important event, Chiyo made her appearance again.
That old lady—she could really survive anything.
Every time people thought she was dead, she'd show up again.
Itsuki stared at her oddly and whispered to Pakura, "I remember Sunagakure even held a funeral for this old woman. By now, her bones should've turned to dust, right?"
Pakura looked helpless and said, "Rumors, just rumors. You're the First Mokage; you shouldn't believe such things."
"Rumors, my foot!" Itsuki rolled his eyes.
Some things you just couldn't be sure about, but the funeral definitely happened.
Seeing Itsuki's expression, Pakura sighed even more. She leaned in and whispered, "It was a small, private funeral. Granny Chiyo said she wanted to experience it ahead of time."
Itsuki couldn't help but give her a thumbs up.
Impressive! Truly impressive.
She wanted to experience it ahead of time? That gave Itsuki a sense of connection.
Chiyo, smiling with her toothless grin, looked at Itsuki.
Itsuki took a few steps forward and said seriously, "Granny Chiyo, you truly are a remarkable person, a pioneer. To experience a funeral in advance—what talent!"
Chiyo's smile was cut short by Itsuki's next words.
"You know, I run a crematorium, and I haven't cremated anyone yet. Since you've already experienced a funeral, how about I cremate you as well, just to fulfill my wish? You could even try out cremation in advance—how does that sound?"
"..."
To hell with you!
Everyone fell silent.
Chiyo stopped smiling.
Everything else could be discussed, but cremation was a firm no.
She was definitely not immune to fire!
"Heh, heh!" Chiyo gave a dry laugh and, under Itsuki's intense gaze, said, "Lord Mokage, all of Sunagakure is grateful to you. You've brought water as precious as gold to our village!"
"So, how about you let me cremate you as a thank-you gift?" Itsuki pressed.
Chiyo: "..."
Are you done yet?
"Ahem!" Pakura cleared her throat. "Lord Mokage."
"Fine!" Itsuki grumbled, glaring at Chiyo. "If you can't handle the game, then don't play."
SSS
Chiyo's face darkened.
Damn it! She hadn't expected to meet her match.
Many of the Sunagakure shinobi suppressed their laughter.
That old lady often scared and messed with them. Now, let's see if she really dares to let herself be cremated!
If she dares, the Mokage will definitely oblige.
After all, once the flames start, everything will be settled.
The water continued to flow into Sunagakure.
The desert, receiving this influx of water, began to show signs of life.
But!
The desert had been thirsty for far too long. Even after some time, there wasn't a noticeable change.
Time!
It would still need a lot of time.
After walking along the river with the Sunagakure and Amegakure groups a few more times, everyone was satisfied.
It was a win-win situation.
One side had too much rainwater.
The other side treated water like gold.
"Expand it!" Itsuki pointed to the river and said firmly, "Two meters wide is too narrow. Make it three times wider."
"No problem!" someone immediately responded. "Now that it's up and running, everyone can see the benefits, so people won't hesitate to put more effort into expanding it."
Suddenly, Konan spoke up, "Don't forget the payment. The water from Amegakure isn't free."
Her words caused a moment of silence around them.
"Of course!" Pakura finally replied after a long pause. "We did have a verbal agreement at the beginning that Sunagakure would pay Amegakure for the water."
"Lord Kazekage!" One of the Sunagakure shinobi shouted in protest.
To them, Amegakure's water was more harmful than helpful. Letting some of it flow out was beneficial to Amegakure.
Why should they pay?
Besides!
How dare Amegakure demand money from Sunagakure! Are they rebelling?
"Heh!" Konan chuckled softly. "Everyone, building this river was difficult, but destroying it would be easy, wouldn't it?"
"How dare you!" one of the Sunagakure shinobi growled. "Amegakure dares to destroy our river? Do you believe that we..."
Snap!
Konan snapped her fingers.
Suddenly, the sky filled with explosive tags, forming a dragon that spiraled in the air.
As Konan pointed her finger, the dragon flew toward an empty patch of land.
Boom!
A massive explosion shook the ground.
The shockwave caused many of the Sunagakure shinobi to lose their footing and fall to the ground.
The sheer force of the explosion left them stunned and speechless.
Snap!
Konan made another hand sign.
Dozens of explosive-tag dragons circled above.
The sight made the Sunagakure shinobi's pupils shrink to their limits.
Even Chiyo and Ebizo fell silent.
"Gentlemen, I can perform the Dance of the Shikigami," Konan smiled. "Right now, you're speaking with one of my paper clones—made entirely of explosive tags. As for how many explosive tags I have, well, feel free to guess. And trust me, you can guess as high as you'd like."
"Now, what do you think these explosive tags could do if they reached Sunagakure?"
"Heh," Pakura chuckled. "Miss Konan, no wonder you nearly turned Konoha upside down. Alright, let's put the explosives away. Sunagakure doesn't plan to break the agreement. At least, not while I'm Kazekage."
Konan smiled. "Then let's hope you remain Kazekage for a long time."
Pakura smiled back, ignoring the uneasy glances around her. "Sunagakure will pay for the water. How does this amount sound?"
She held up her fingers to show a number.
Konan thought for a moment and looked at Itsuki.
Itsuki nodded lightly.
"Alright, I agree!" Konan said.
