Evolution begins with an ant colony

Chapter 180: We Need To Talk

As Akun slowly exited the dryad tree castle, a scene of chaos unfolded before him. The first thing that caught his eye was the alternate version of himself, holding Leandore off the ground with a powerful grip around his neck. Leandore, weakened and struggling, attempted to break free from the vice-like hold.

Surveying the aftermath of the battle, Akun's gaze shifted to the other tribe leaders, their bodies battered and bloodied. The cobblestone floor beneath him was massively shattered, bearing the scars of the fierce confrontation. Tree houses, too, lay in disarray. However, the dryads had wisely distanced themselves from the battle, ensuring their safety.

To gain a clearer understanding, Akun activated his dragon eyes, scanning the unconscious and bleeding tribe leaders.

"They seem to be unconscious," he mused inwardly, his analytical mind delving further, "and these wounds— they target other parts of the body, completely avoiding their vital organs." The battlefield, a tableau of conflict, raised more questions about the nature of the altercation and the calculated precision behind the injuries inflicted.

Akun approached the alternate version of himself and spoke with an air of calmness, "Hey, we have to talk."

The alternate timeline Akun momentarily diverted his attention from Leandore, flinging him to the ground. Turning to face Akun, he replied, "What's up, something else we gotta do?"

"No, follow me," Akun responded. He walked past the alternate version of himself and lifted off the floor with the power of his aspect. Removing the barrier that had encased the dryad tribe, he turned to face the alternate Akun, still grounded.

In response, the alternate timeline Akun began to lift himself off the ground, utilizing his aspect power. The air was thick with tension as the two versions of Akun prepared to engage in a conversation that could shape the course of their intertwined destinies.

Akun gazed down at the tribe leaders, who were slowly regaining consciousness, and then turned his attention to the distant ant city. He spoke with seriousnes, "We have to go further. What we're about to talk about is something very important to us." Suddenly, with a sonic boom, Akun propelled himself through the air.

Observing this, alternate Akun mumbled, "Okay, I guess." He followed suit, launching himself into the air. Inwardly, he pondered, "What's up with him? His mood seems weird. Although he is me, I can't tell exactly what's going on in his mind."

Midway through their flight, the other Akun's thoughts turned more solemn. He reflected, "Is he taking me this far because of that system notification I received earlier? It looks like he feels responsible for starting this conversation, probably because he's the reason behind it."

As they flew through the air, alternate Akun looked back at the dryad tribe and the other tribes they swiftly passed. Catching up to Akun, he asked, "We're covering quite a distance from the other tribes. Where are we going exactly?"

Akun replied mysteriously, "I'll fill you in when we arrive." He then sped up, leaving sonic echoes in the sky. The excitement about their destination lingered as they flew through the clouds, heading toward a significant revelation.

Akun's descent took him to a barren landscape, a huge empty space without trees stretching for hundreds of kilometers in every direction. When alternate Akun landed a bit far off, the dark silver material of his helmet flowed down, showing his face as he shouted, "Well, what's on your mind that you're so eager to discuss with me?"

In response, Akun allowed the dark silver of his helmet to cascade, uncovering his face as he replied, "It's about why I came here."

The winds carried the echo of alternate Akun's yell, "What, to save Oliver?"

Akun raised his voice over the barren terrain, "That's only half of it. You see, the system..."

Interrupting, alternate Akun shouted, "I already know what this is all about." His unexpected revelation left Akun momentarily silent, granting alternate Akun the space to continue.

Alternate Akun said with a serious look, "The system notified me when we were heading to the Dryad tribe." The significance of their combined knowledge lingered in the air, a crucial moment in their shared fate unfolding in the quiet emptiness of the desert.

A few hours back, while the other Akun was flying through the air, following Akun toward the Dryad tribe, the system's loud voice suddenly echoed in his head:

[Notice!! Player, an anomaly has been detected in the book of existence!!]

Inwardly, Akun mumbled, "The book of what? What's that?"

[The book of existence is the ultimate record of everything that exists, also the enforcer of all laws that exist to keep all of existence in harmony.]

Alternate Akun contemplated, "Okay, so what does this anomaly have to do with me?"

The system replied, [Due to the fact that the player's alter version already awakened an †Authority† and the player also awakened an †Authority†, a huge ripple has been created, forcing the book to be compelled to get rid of one of you.]

Further contemplating, alternate Akun questioned, "What do you mean alter me? Are you talking about future me?"

The system clarified, [Correction, that entity isn't the future player; that entity is the player from an alternate timeline, which was the original that branched out to create this one.]

Alternate timeline Akun mumbled inwardly, confusion clouding his thoughts. "I... I still don't understand. Be more clear with what you are trying to say."

The system responded, [Basically, the player is a result of that entity the player refers to as 'your future self' creating an alternate timeline to fulfill his needs, whatever they may be. This means the current player wasn't the original, just like the system.

Now, as a result of the player awakening an †Authority† identical to 'your future self,' the book of existence is forced to forcibly erase one of you. This is because only one of you can exist with the said †Authority†.] The revelation lingered in the air, unraveling the intricacies of timelines and the consequences of awakening such potent forces.
