Exo Seeker: The Strongest Human Woke Up In The Future!

Chapter 18: Jacket

There are all kinds of Engineers, Exo-Engineers, Weapon Engineers, Aircraft Engineers, and so on. And Kael? He could confidently say he was adept at every branch of Engineering.

Well, it was one of the requirements for wearing that suit. Teams were always behind the Aegis Primeval, maintaining the Exoskeleton's top performance and ensuring no mishaps could occur.

However, they weren't always by their side, so Kael and the others had to learn everything necessary to fix even the "basic" problems in their suits. Of course, these so-called "basic problems" were the kind that could tear space apart or create a black hole.

Thinking about Engineering brought the Pink Prime back into his mind. That motherf*cking b*tch was the most talented of them all when it came to machines and engineering. Without a suit, as long as there was machinery and metal around her, she could create planet-breaking, world-shattering weapons.

It was one of the most terrifying things about her.

As this thought lingered in Kael's mind, anger and the desire for revenge flared in his heart.

Kael knew his Aegis had been compromised by her, and probably the other Primevals' Aegises as well. It was like having a child that called another man its father. A frustrating feeling, to say the least. Not that he'd ever had a child. Or at least, not that he knew of. There was always the slim possibility, considering the number of women he'd slept with… right?

Shaking his head to dispel the ridiculous thought, Kael noticed someone walking beside him.

"You're an engineer too?!" Trey asked, his tone filled with surprise. "Can you tell me how you managed to enhance my Compression Sphere so quickly? If it were me, it would've taken months just to do what you did in seconds!"

Kael glanced at the young man before staring straight ahead. They were currently walking away from the previous battlefield. "Didn't you want to climb this mountain and get to the top of the spire? I'll find you once we're out."

"I…" Trey hesitated, glancing at the top of the cliff where the spire glared under the myriad lights in the sky.

Now that he knew this lunatic he'd been following was also a fellow Engineer—and a talented one at that—Trey felt an urge to stick around. For Engineers, exchanging knowledge was a common practice, much like it was for scientists.

Moreover, he wanted to learn how Kael had managed to enhance his Compression Sphere in mere seconds.

"I think I'll stay by your side," Trey said, coughing awkwardly. Previously, all he'd wanted was to get as far away as possible from this lunatic. But now? He could overlook the countless times he'd nearly died following Kael. This man wasn't just a skilled Engineer, he was also an exceptional fighter so it's worth following after him.

"Do what you want," Kael said with a dismissive wave of his hand.

"So, how'd you do it?" Trey asked, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.

"Simple—you just have to be smart," Kael smirked.

Hearing the answer, Trey was left speechless. "You know, it's strange how you can stack almost a dozen Shield Tubes on top of each other as if they were one, while most people summon them chaotically around themselves. You tweaked those Shield Tubes, right? Can you at least tell me how you did it?"

Suddenly, Kael Draven stopped in his tracks. His narrowed eyes scanned the forest. Now that they were far from the previous battlefield, they found themselves surrounded by towering trees.

"Okay, you don't have to tell me," Trey said, noticing Kael's silence. "Where are we going? You know most of the Primers are heading to the top of the cliff where the Second Grade Behemechs are. Only the weaker Behemechs are around here, unless we're extremely lucky... or unlucky enough to stumble across one, like that fat fox. But with your combat ability, I think we'd have a chance at taking down a Second Grade near the Spire…"

As Trey's voice filled the air, Kael continued scanning the surroundings. He had a mission: to find Milan's father. After all the fighting and venturing, he'd finally found a clue.

The fissure they were in was vast, probably comparable in size to a major city or even larger. There were countless places where Mr. Ponce could have ended up—on the edge of the fissure, at the top of the cliff, or even on the far side. But here, amidst the dense forest, was a clue suggesting the miner might still be nearby.

Was it luck? Or fate giving the White Prime an easy task?

Either way, Kael smiled. He wouldn't have to search the entire perimeter of the mountain for a single clue.

He approached a fallen tree trunk, where a piece of cloth lay draped over it. It was a green and yellow heavy jacket, marked with cuts and slashes. At first glance, one might assume it was due to wear and tear, but a closer inspection revealed it had been damaged in a violent struggle.

By now, Trey had noticed the jacket too. "That's a miner's jacket. What's it doing he– Oh, right, that unlucky miner who got caught in the fissure."

Kael stepped forward, picking up the jacket. He examined it carefully, noting the holes and, more importantly, traces of blood. Rubbing his fingers over the stains, he estimated the jacket had been here for roughly half a day, the same timeframe since the fissure appeared.

With this confirmation, and Trey's earlier words, Kael was now certain: Milan's father was in this forest.

"Put this in your bag," Kael said, handing the jacket to Trey.

"Alright," Trey nodded, taking the cloth and placing it inside his bag. If it had been earlier, he might have complained about being treated like an errand boy. But now, things were different. Kael's engineering talent made Trey eager to stay close and maybe, just maybe, get on the lunatic's—no, Kael's good side.

Kael gave the surroundings another quick scan. Finding nothing more useful, he started walking again.

"What are we looking for?" Trey asked, unable to hold back his curiosity.

"The miner," Kael replied, their footsteps crunching against the forest floor.

"The miner?" Trey repeated, puzzled. "Why do you want to find him?"

"So I can f*ck his daughter," Kael said truthfully and casually, as if it were the simplest thing in the world.

"W-what?!"
