Chapter 65: Hatred
"What a huge disgrace, what a huge disgrace!"
Listening to Wang Qi's continual muttering, Wu Fan revealed a subtle expression.
While most people were still fretting over not being able to finish, was this guy already thinking about being the first to hand in his paper?
Wang Qi was genuinely annoyed for a while. However, that state lasted only briefly before he came to terms with it.
After all, what had happened couldn't be changed. Instead of continuing to worry, it was better to go back and solve more problems.
When Wang Qi heard from around that the first one to hand in the paper was actually a poor student who couldn't solve most of the problems, his mood significantly improved.
"Ahahaha… I knew it. Some opponents really are unbeatable for a lifetime!"
Wang Qi laughed and called out to the two beside him, "Let's go, time to eat. It's my treat."
Wu Fan helplessly reminded him, "Wang Qi, the meals in the Kitchen are free."
"I know, that's why I said it's my treat!"
"Hehehe… Senior Brother Wang, you're really witty." Yang Jun seemed to be agreeing with Wang Qi, but his voice startled Wang Qi. Wang Qi subtly asked Wu Fan, "Who is this friend of yours, anyway? His laughter is kind of creepy."
"Um, well…" Wu Fan couldn't communicate secretly, so he whispered, "Yang Jun's family… has had some issues…"
Wang Qi didn't really like talking to this gloomy guy, and Yang Jun spent most of his time lost in thought. Stuck in the middle, Wu Fan couldn't find a topic, and the three of them maintained an awkward silence all the way to the Kitchen.
Upon entering the Kitchen, Wang Qi spotted Mao Zimiao and Wang Zhenqi sitting in the corner. Mao Zimiao jumped up and waved at him smiling, "Xiao Qi! Over here, meow!"
Wang Qi waved back and walked over with Wu Fan and Yang Jun.
On the table in front of the two half-demon girls, there were several papers and a few brush pens. The calligraphy in Shenzhou slightly differed from ancient China, with brush pen writing also being popular. Ordinary people usually started learning with soft brushes before moving on to harder ones. Having used a brush pen for ten years, Wang Qi was rather unaccustomed to these hard brush pens and rarely used them.
Wang Qi casually picked up a pen, twirling it between his fingers, while his other hand picked up a piece of scratch paper. "What are you looking at?"
Wang Zhenqi listlessly lay her head on the table, "It seems like our grades are really bad..."
The papers, surprisingly, contained the questions from the Written Test and the two's solutions.
Discussing answers…
Wang Qi's face showed a nostalgic expression. He remembered back in his middle and high school days, after an exam, everyone would gather in small groups and head to a snack shop near the school gate, buy milk tea or popcorn chicken, and spend a few minutes discussing the answers. Even a top student like himself couldn't escape this routine.
Curious, Wu Fan picked up a paper and suddenly screamed, "This question was actually like this! I think I wrote it wrong."
"Let me see." Wang Qi took the paper, looked at it, and said, "Didn't you ask me about a similar question this morning?"
"Ah?" Wu Fan's face showed even more frustration.
Mao Zimiao looked uneasy, "Xiao Qi, it's good that you're here, meow. Check these questions for us."
After Wang Qi pointed out the key points in a few questions, Mao Zimiao seriously started calculating. After a while, Wu Shiqin arrived at the Kitchen. She took a seat next to Mao Zimiao, looking tired.
"Tired from the Written Test?"
Wu Shiqin shook her head, "Patrolling is boring."
Wang Qi then remembered that this brazen and fierce woman also held the position of a Law Enforcer in the Discipline Office. Thinking of this, he couldn't help but show a helpless expression, "I can't believe they still haven't kicked you out of the Law Enforcers' team."
Wu Shiqin smirked, too lazy to retort.
Although Wu Shiqin's academic dominance wasn't as strong as Wang Qi's, she had solved the Heavenly Song problems a month ago. With her involvement, working on the answers became much easier.
Wait, had he forgotten something?
Wang Qi frowned and looked around. It was then he remembered Yang Jun was sitting right beside him.
Do all of Wu Fan's friends have the same lack of presence as him? Wang Qi complained internally. Yang Jun had been silent since the beginning and hadn't participated in discussing the answers, causing Wang Qi to almost forget about him.
Wang Qi was about to invite Yang Jun to join in the discussion. Taking care of more academically challenged students only heightened the sense of achievement for an academic achiever, right?
However, he noticed something was off with Yang Jun. He was staring blankly ahead with lifeless eyes and breathing raggedly. Following his gaze, Wang Qi saw that Yang Jun was actually fixated on Mao Zimiao's head.
What the hell, is this sleazy guy actually a perverted beast-ear fetishist who couldn't control himself and just had a go at it?
Oh, in Shenzhou terms, they call it "unsheathed the sword."
Yang Jun's strange behavior quickly caught everyone's attention. The first to notice was Mao Zimiao. The half-demon girl, seeing Yang Jun's gaze, immediately covered her ears and said angrily, "Xiao Qi! Wu Fan! This guy…"
Mao Zimiao's actions startled Wu Shiqin. The Law Enforcer first glanced at Wang Qi before turning her attention to Yang Jun.
Damn it, I'm unfairly caught in the crossfire, no, double crossfire! This guy isn't even my friend!
It was only then that Wu Fan and Wang Zhenqi belatedly realized what was happening. Wu Fan's expression darkened upon seeing Yang Jun's condition, "Yang Jun…"
Before he could say more, Yang Jun suddenly lunged! He leapt from the chair and pounced towards Mao Zimiao, his right hand aiming straight for her eyes.
Everyone was shocked by this sudden attack. Without thinking, Wang Qi sent a Phase Wave Blade toward Yang Jun's shoulder. Yang Jun got hit, a cloud of blood mist burst from his shoulder slowing his movements, while Mao Zimiao instinctively jumped back. Yang Jun stepped on the table, ready to continue his assault. Wu Shiqin, having recovered, swept his feet from under him, then kicked him several meters away. Yang Jun knocked over several tables and struggled on the ground trying to get up. Wu Shiqin walked over swiftly, pinning Yang Jun with her foot.
Wang Qi grabbed Wu Fan's shirt and yelled, "What kind of friend have you made!"
Wu Fan was utterly stupefied, stammering, "He he he... he just transferred here this month... I really didn't know he would attack a half-demon! Really!"
Then Wu Fan apologized loudly, "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! But Yang Jun is pitiful. His village was attacked by a demon beast. He watched his family die, so that's why... I'm sorry!"
Wu Shiqin took out a Magic Artifact rope, tied up Yang Jun, and then spoke coldly to him, "You attacked your classmate, you're coming with me to the Discipline Office." She then turned to Wu Fan, "We need a witness. You know him, come with me."
Wu Fan nodded timidly, following Wu Shiqin.
After this incident, Mao Zimiao and Wang Zhenqi were no longer in the mood to work on answers.
Wang Zhenqi slammed the table violently and said hatefully, "What does the harm caused by wild demon beasts have to do with us! Me and Amiao's ancestors have been followers of the Immortal Dao. Amiao's father is even the Guardian Envoy of the West Sea!"
"No choice, meow," Mao Zimiao sighed.
