Fairy, Don’t Be Afraid, I’m Blind

Chapter 64: Eyes Full of Emptiness

Chapter 64: Eyes Full of Emptiness

When You Su opened his eyes, chaos once again clouded his vision.

But the soft sensation against the back of his neck told him that he was once again enjoying the comfort of a young girl’s lap pillow.

Ji Lingruo’s breathing was steady and rhythmic, indicating that she had likely fallen asleep.

You Su felt that the excruciating pain had lessened throughout his body. He tried moving his arm and found that it wasn’t too difficult, though something silky slid down his arm as he did so.

?

Why was something covering him?

He brought it to his nose and sniffed it. A faint, elegant fragrance masked the smell of blood – it was Junior Sister’s skirt.

It seemed that Junior Sister, worried about him catching a chill, had taken off her skirt to use as a thin blanket for him.

No wonder the lap cushion felt even softer than before…

“Senior Brother, are you a pervert?”

Ji Lingruo leaned back slightly, her lips curling downward as she glanced down at You Su with a look of disgust.

“…”

You Su, feeling guilty as if caught red-handed, quickly put down the skirt and said seriously, “Junior Sister, please let me explain.”

“There is nothing to explain.” Ji Lingruo pouted, then shifted her body back, flushing her cheeks. “I know you too well. You always act like a proper gentleman, but when you taught me martial arts, you’d always focus on the area just below the Tianchi Point…”

You Su’s mouth twitched. With so much fat in the way and having to avoid touching certain areas, how else was he supposed to make progress without spending some time and effort?

“Ahem, it was all proper teaching. Now help me sit up and put your clothes back on.”

“Oh…”

The two of them leaned against each other again. With one less layer of clothing, the warmth of their bodies seemed even more palpable.

You Su remembered that before he had fallen asleep, he had been leaning against the corner of the cave. There wasn’t much space on his side, but there was still plenty of room on Ji Lingruo’s side.

However, he wasn’t so clueless as to push Junior Sister away just to have more space. What kind of person would do such a thing?

“Give me back my skirt,” Ji Lingruo said irritably when You Su didn’t move for a while.

Then You Su remembered that he was still holding her skirt. He said, “This one’s dirty, so don’t wear it. I have a new one here.”

With that, he took out a white-and-pink ruqun from his dimensional bag. It was one of the many clothes the shopkeeper had given him after he defeated Wu Cheng.

“It’s definitely a proper outfit, though it might not be as nice as the ones I bought you before. Just make do with it for now.”

Ji Lingruo took it skeptically and asked, “Most storage treasures are only about ten inches in size, and people fill them with life-saving items. Why would you store women’s clothes instead of more medicine or food?”

You Su explained somewhat awkwardly, “Most storage treasures are made from materials borrowed from Heaven’s Dawn Divine Mountain, and they’re quite rare. The ones you can occasionally buy are actually made from leftover scraps of those materials. But my Dimensional Bag is different-it’s made with high-quality materials and exquisite craftsmanship, so it’s much larger than you think. It can even fit on a tea table, so I put a little bit of everything in there, just in case.”

“Really?”

You Su smiled lightly and flipped his right hand over. Suddenly, Elder Ling’s treasured sandalwood table and chairs appeared before them.

Ji Lingruo’s eyes sparkled as if she were seeing such a miraculous sight for the first time. She climbed onto the chair, touching and examining it, clearly in disbelief.

Although You Su couldn’t see it, he could imagine the look of astonishment on the girl’s face. With some guilt, he said, “Junior Sister, this dimensional bag has already recognized me as its master. But I promise I’ll find one for you in the future.”

Ji Lingruo frowned. “What do you take me for? You risked your life to get this from the evil Taoist. How could I take it from you?”

You Su didn’t say anything more, feeling a warm surge in his heart.

Ji Lingruo didn’t stay excited for long. Once her enthusiasm had faded, she shrank back and leaned against You Su again.

“What’s wrong?” You Su asked.

“I’m afraid you’ll catch cold!” Ji Lingruo replied vehemently.

You Su shook his head inwardly, marveling at how adorable his Junior Sister was. He then reminded her, “But if you don’t put on clothes, won’t you get cold?”

“Ah? Right.”

Ji Lingruo’s face turned red. She had been so focused on sticking close to him that she had forgotten that she was only wearing her underwear. In fact, her undergarments were also a bit dirty and uncomfortable against her skin. As if remembering something, she asked in a cold tone, “Hey, you don’t happen to have women’s underwear in there too, do you?”

You Su’s face stiffened. “Well… I do, but it’s not like I prepared them on purpose. They were also given to me by the shopkeeper after I defeated Wu Cheng. I thought you wouldn’t like them, so I didn’t give them to you, but I couldn’t just throw away someone else’s gift, could I?”

“Hmph! I knew you weren’t as sincere as you pretend to be!” Ji Lingruo stood up, crossing her arms as if to distance herself from You Su, this hypocritical man. She looked down at him with disdain. “Hand them over.”

Trembling, You Su took out a piece and handed it over. The fabric felt delicate, though he had no idea what style it was.

Ji Lingruo grabbed it and examined it for a moment, but it was too dark to see clearly. She said, “The candle from earlier has already burned out. Light another one. It’s too dark to see the clothes.”

You Su took out all the candles and fire starters, thinking to himself that it was impossible to tell the time without the sun or moon in the cave. He reminded her, “Use them sparingly.”

Ji Lingruo ignored him, lighting a candle and placing it on the stone wall. The dim cave suddenly brightened, illuminating the girl’s exposed skin.

Ji Lingruo used the dress to cover herself, glancing cautiously at You Su. She hadn’t felt too self-conscious in the dim light earlier, but now that it was brighter, a sense of shyness suddenly washed over her.

Still, she didn’t make too much of a fuss. After all, You Su was blind – what was there to fear?

Without hesitation, she examined the milky-white undergarment. When she finally saw the style, her cheeks flushed and she spat out, “How shameless!”

You Su was left speechless by her comment. Ji Lingruo’s cold voice came again, “Hey, you can’t see, right?”

You Su replied matter-of-factly, “Of course not. How can a blind person see? If Junior Sister doesn’t believe me, I can turn around,”

Ji Lingruo, not willing to back down, wore a mischievous smile, as if a plan was about to succeed. She said slyly, “Who is afraid of you? Even if you weren’t blind, what’s the difference? Don’t turn around! Stay facing me. I want you to wish that you could see, but you can’t! Hehe, poor blind man, so pitiful.”

“This is the scene of the most beautiful girl in the world changing her clothes. What a pity that someone can’t see it. No matter how enchanting the sight is, you can only feel sorry for yourself… Ah, I’m so pitiful!”

You Su watched as the young girl performed her little act alone, his mind fixated on a single word: “Six.”

A man’s greatest taboo was being told he wasn’t capable. Junior Sister’s actions were no different from a bratty little girl jumping up in his face, pointing at him with ridicule, and shouting, “Blind fool! Blind fool!”

You Su exhaled deeply, his expression turning serious.

“Junior Sister, I advise you not to continue provoking me. Because when I become extremely angry…”

Ji Lingruo was momentarily intimidated by You Su’s imposing demeanor. She glanced at his seemingly harmless face and instinctively shrank back, bracing herself for whatever horrifying statement he was about to make.

“Extremely angry…”

“…”

“Pfft—HAHAHAHA!”

Ji Lingruo burst into uncontrollable laughter, her body shaking like flower branches in the wind. Tears welled up in her eyes as she gasped for breath, struggling to calm down.

Meanwhile, You Su’s face darkened with frustration. He couldn’t muster even a hint of amusement, sighing inwardly as he felt utterly drained, his injuries still far from healed. Though he had deliberately crafted this joke to amuse Junior Sister, he silently vowed to settle the score once she recovered fully. When that day came, he, You Su, would ensure she experienced what it meant to be subdued by someone who wasn’t so easily mocked.

After the bout of laughter subsided, the earlier tension between them dissipated entirely. It almost felt as though they weren’t fleeing danger but instead honeymooning in some secluded paradise.

Seeing You Su preparing to turn away again, Ji Lingruo commanded sharply:

“Don’t you dare turn your head! What, afraid you’ll get ‘extremely angry’ again?”

Her lips curled into an even wider smirk as she spoke.

Unable to tolerate her teasing any longer, You Su stubbornly pushed himself up with great effort, inching closer to where Ji Lingruo sat.

He widened his clear yet vacant eyes, staring intently at her exquisite figure. Though his gaze was unfocused and devoid of clarity, he intended to unsettle her with the sheer intensity of his unblinking stare.

When Ji Lingruo saw You Su rise to the challenge, she sneered dismissively.

Men were always so obsessed with proving their prowess, but what did it matter? Wasn’t it all just empty bravado?

She laid out her clean clothes neatly, then placed her hands on the straps of her undergarments, hesitating briefly as she glanced at You Su’s eyes.

Despite his blurred vision, You Su maintained a determined, unyielding expression. Ji Lingruo’s lips twitched slightly, and she muttered under her breath:

“Silver-plated spearhead…”

You Su raised an eyebrow. Though he couldn’t do much physically, he refused to lose in spirit. With exaggerated effort, he opened his eyes as wide as possible.

Ji Lingruo chuckled mockingly before boldly sliding off her shoulder straps. In an instant, even the warm orange glow of the candlelight seemed to pale in comparison.

Beneath the snowy plum blossoms lay a slender, willow-like waist, gracefully curving into a mesmerizing silhouette alongside her hips and back.

Paired with Ji Lingruo’s innocently seductive, serpentine features, she resembled a naive snake demon who had inadvertently wreaked havoc upon the mortal realm.

Seeing no reaction from You Su, the young woman hooked her fingers into the waistband of her undergarments and slowly bent forward. Her smooth, jade-like back glistened like dew-kissed autumn leaves, her skin as soft and creamy as lamb fat.

The gentle curve of her spine evoked the shy elegance of a plum blossom swaying delicately under scrutiny.

Suddenly, the girl paused mid-motion, sensing something amiss. Ignoring her partially lowered undergarments, she lifted her head and regarded You Su with playful curiosity, teasing:

“Why are you gripping your fists so tightly? Could it be… you’re feeling ‘extremely angry’ again?”

?

Realizing belatedly that both his hands were clenched into tight fists, You Su quickly relaxed them, pressing his legs together awkwardly as he stammered:

“I suddenly felt a surge of strength, so I thought I’d test it out. Seems like I’m recovering nicely.”

“Oh?”

Ji Lingruo’s cheeks flushed pink, her natural allure radiating effortlessly. She tilted her head coquettishly and purred:

“Then why did you close your eyes?”

“Your Brother has empty eyes; whether open or closed makes no difference,” You Su replied anxiously.

“If your eyes are truly empty, why are you afraid to look at me?”

Ji Lingruo’s sultry gaze shimmered like silken threads, her half-lowered undergarments adding to the tantalizing scene. She commanded firmly:

“Open your eyes.”

But You Su remained steadfast, keeping his eyes tightly shut, unmoving like a stoic monk.

“Could it be Brother is scared? As a blind man, why block only your sight and not your ears or nose?”

“Junior Sister speaks wisely.” You Su complied reluctantly, covering his ears and pinching his nose—and indeed, he felt much more at ease.

Suddenly, You Su sensed waves of warmth emanating directly in front of him, accompanied by a fragrant aroma filling his nostrils.

It turned out that the young woman had leaned forward, bringing their faces within inches of each other, close enough to feel the heat radiating between them.

“So, why won’t you open your eyes? Could it be… you’re not actually blind?”

You Su stiffened, forcing a strained smile.

“How could that be…”

With that, he slowly opened his eyes, only to find them bloodshot and swollen, throbbing painfully.

White powder, white powder, white powder…

“Ah!”

Ji Lingruo recoiled in shock, one hand clutching her chest while the other shielded her lower body. Trembling, she asked:

“Y-your eyes—they were normal just now! Why have they turned completely black?”

Completely black?

After killing Elder Ling, You Su had considered checking his reflection in the river but abandoned the idea due to poor lighting. Now he realized that whenever his vision returned, his eyes turned pitch-black…

You Su wanted to cry but held back. Every previous instance of regaining sight had occurred during desperate battles, leaving him unaware of this peculiar side effect until now. Too distracted to ponder further, he silently cursed himself for his carelessness.

“Junior Sister, don’t be afraid. It must be the evil influence within me acting up again. Closing my eyes forcefully was my attempt to suppress it.”

The monster version of Junior Sister knew about consuming Tai Sui’s flesh and regaining sight, but the real Junior Sister remained oblivious. He absolutely could not allow their consciousnesses to overlap again.

Yet using this excuse to deceive Junior Sister left You Su feeling like a hypocrite. Deep down, he knew his intentions weren’t entirely selfless.

“Really?”

“I never lie to Junior Sister.”

Ji Lingruo bit her lip, hesitating before pressing further. But before she could, she suddenly collapsed, writhing in agony on the ground…
