Fallen Realm Online: Rise of The Fallen Monarch

Chapter 21: Chapter 0021 – Xylen’s First Battle

******

Not seeing what Xylen was seeing, Lilith, gripping her bow tightly in her hand muttered urgently. "What do we do now, my lord? This creature isn't strong, but its skills are very deadly, and it's challenging to kill."

"Is that so?" Xylen asked, smirking.

Then adjusting his grip on his sword, he added. "I'll just kill it in one swing."

"This…" Lilith's eyes widened in disbelief. "What… what did you just say" she stuttered. "You… you want to…"

Xylen had already begun moving, not waiting to hear her rambles.

Seeing this, Lilith forced a deep breath, doing her best to hide her anxiousness.

Without hesitation, she drew out an arrow from its quiver and set it against her bow, closely aiming it at the Brambit, ready to hit it any time if needed.

On the other hand, Xylen, keeping his posture low slowly and quietly crept toward the Brambit, his steps light as a feather.

Completely oblivious to this approaching danger, the Brambit continued nibbling at its meal with such bliss.

'Closer,' Xylen thought, watching as he got closer to the creature.

'Just a little closer!' he muttered and just then, his eyes shined.

Without hesitation, he lifted the one-handed sword and in the following second, a flash of steel flashed.

Immediately following this; "Bam!"

His sword cleaved into the Brambit, sending it flying back.

The impact instantly sent out a sharp crack! The creature shrieked in agony, the attack having met it square on the body.

Before Xylen could jubilate or even think of following up with another attack, however…

A sudden, piercing pain shot through his chest, and before he could react;

[ Warning! A small portion of the player's attack has been reflected. ]

"This…"

Xylen finally reacted and just then, his vision flashed red.

[ -10 HP ]

[ -15 STAMINA ]

"Damn it!" Xylen, seeing this red warning couldn't help but grit his teeth, realizing how careless he had just been.

He had thought such an unexpected attack would have prevented the creature from using its skill… alas, he couldn't have been more wrong.

Just as Xylen was mulling over his carelessness…

"My lord! Are you okay?!" Lilith's concerned voice echoed, her hands trembling as she drew back her bowstring with full force, ready to hit the Brambit.

Xylen, however hurriedly stopped her before she could release the arrow.

"I got this!" He shouted before quickly looking toward the Brambit.

It was currently twitching on the ground with pain, his unexpected attack having done a little bit of damage to it.

Just before he could think of his next move though, the creature's spikes quivered, and in the following second shot outward in a deadly burst.

Rusthorn Spikes! The creature's second skill.

Seeing this, Xylen threw himself to the side, narrowly dodging the metal-like thorns.

Unfortunately, though, he was a second too late and one grazed his cheek, drawing blood. But that was all.

Hurriedly steadying himself, Xylen looked back just in time to see the Brambit's blood-red eyes completely locked onto him like a prey, incensed now.

Lilith gasped at this, her anxiousness mounting. "My lord…!"

Xylen exhaled forcefully, gripping his sword tightly.

He had also become furious and with this;

"Enough of this." He barked.

In the following second, a dark aura flickered around his blade, and then shadows twisted and surged toward his sword like liquid night.

The air itself grew heavy and witnessing this, Lilith's breath caught in her throat.

"My… my Lord." She trembled, unable to believe her eyes.

On the other hand, Xylen whispered.

"Shadow Leash."

In the next second, a streak of darkness blurred through the air, and then; "Schlk!"

A sickening sound echoed following which the Brambit's body stiffened, its glowing red eyes dimming.

Then, it collapsed to the ground, having no idea how the ant before it had suddenly become several times more powerful, able to kill itself in such an instant.

Unfortunately, it would never be able to get its answer as if had already died.

No sooner had this happened, however than;

Hearing this notification, Xylen, confirming that the battle had indeed ended couldn't help but exhale slightly, wiping his forehead.

"That almost took a worse turn," he muttered to himself.

With this, he turned to Lilith, expecting her usual stubborn attitude and wanting to assure her he was okay…

Instead, she stood frozen right now, staring at him as though he were a demon. (Well, technically, he's indeed a demon.)

"…Are you okay?" Xylen asked carefully, raising a brow.

Lilith blinked in the following second, returning to her senses.

With this, she slowly lifted a shaking finger to point at him, her mouth opening.

"Was… was that you just… just now, My… My Lord? She stuttered, her voice trembling with bewilderment and disbelief.
