Chapter 8: Herta Space Station 4
Time passed for a while after Klein tried to look into the territory, but in the end, no method worked.
"Anyway, if the one Your Majesty is clashing with is really the Death Star, even if we are at this distance, it won't be safe. Mr. Asta, I might need to go check outside for a bit." Klein released his hand from the staff, leaving it planted like that. "And don't worry, with this staff, the barrier will remain intact."
After finishing his speech, Klein walked past Herta, Arlan, and the members of the train convoy who were there to the nearest platform, which happened to be the one where the Pioneer Train was parked.
He saw the Templar Knights fighting two Doomsday Beasts outside, while the Mastermind unit, clad in mechanized armor and silver-white cloaks, guarded the space station with long-range attacks.
"Your Majesty must be thinking of handling the remaining four beasts yourself, but even with your power now, it shouldn't take this long." Klein watched as the two Doomsday Beasts were torn apart by the knights, killed as if it were nothing difficult. At that moment, the barrier Austin had set up shattered.
The last Doomsday Beast charged straight through the silver-winged knights towards Klein at high speed. However, his gaze showed no interest in that beast at all. Instead, he was fixated on the warriors in white and black mechanized armor clashing in the distance behind.
"It is as you say...so then."
"Mr. Hall!" Dan Heng's voice came from behind, along with him running in with other train members, including the girl with gray hair who followed Marsh and Tan Heng back when they went out to find Arlan.
"Mr. Dan Heng, and the other train crew, is there something going on?" Klein turned to Dan Heng while extending his hand outward to open the cubic power barrier surrounding the Doomsday Beast, trapping it inside.
"Wow, wow, wow! That looks like a massive doomsday beast~!" March exclaimed, staring in shock at the light cage in front of him that contained a monster the size of a battleship.
"Don't worry, even if it's doomsday, the beast can't easily tear through this barrier. But why is everyone here?"
"We came out to see if there was anything we could do. After all, Austin is a member of the train crew that Himeko has been waiting for. He came back, but before he could even board the train, how could we let anything happen to him?" Welt stepped up to answer that question.
"That's right. Austin is a crucial member of the Astral Express. We can't let him fight alone." Himeko added.
"I truly appreciate the concern you all have for His Majesty, but if you all were to face that person... I cannot guarantee your safety as I promised His Majesty. If there is anything we can do, why don't we deal with this issue first?" After saying that, Klein turned back towards the Doomsday Beast locked outside the platform.
"It looks like you two are getting along well; mind if I join in?" Death Star in golden armor appeared above Doomsday Beast. He opened his armor section and turned to Klein. "Hey, long time no see. How are Carlos and Shane doing?"
"Yes, yes, both of them are still doing well. If possible, could you please tell me the purpose of your intrusion?"
"Well~ it's nothing much; I'm just following that script; as you know, I'm not the type to spoil things."
"But this creates a problem, you know." Klein and Death Star conversed with each other in a friendly manner, as if they were not enemies pointing weapons at each other.
"Stellaron Hunter, Death Star..." Himeko cast a calm gaze at the other party. "We don't care what your goal is, but Austin is a member of the Express. If you harm him, you become an enemy of the Express."
"You're looking fierce~ But sorry, I have no business with you." Suddenly, a black sword plunged down beside Death Star, followed by Austin in golden armor, who rushed in, grabbed the sword, and swung it away. Of course, Death Star could only take a small step back.
"Your Majesty!" "Austin!" Klein and Himeko called out to each other after he removed his helm.
"You're really something, using my own technique against me!" Austin gathered elemental energy in his left hand, forming a core that shone with a brilliant golden-red light, surrounded by a storm of black gas and dust, along with a bright silver beam shooting through the center of his palm.
"Ah damn, primordial chaos." Death Star quickly jumped to the side, but Austin was already behind him, holding a chunk of elemental power. Death Star turned around, but the Primordial Chaos bomb was right in front of him. Even though he raised his knife in time to defend, the explosion's force blew him out of the space station.
"Where do you think you're going!?" With that, Austin spread his wings and flew after them.
"Ah... truly befitting of a majesty," Klein looked out with a somewhat weary expression before turning back. "So, what should I do with you?" He squinted at the Doomsday Beast he had imprisoned within the barrier, pondering something in his mind.
"Dealing with this guy isn't that hard. I could handle it easily by myself, but..." He glanced sideways at the train crew. "Even though I trust you, Himeko, it's a bit different with the others... So let's put it to the test."
Klein stepped back to the rear of the train convoy. "Everyone, let's deal with the immediate problem first," he said. He summoned his staff back to his hand, its light element shimmering, and cast a spell on everyone around.
"I will support you myself. Please take care of everything." With that, Klein cast a simple support spell for the train convoy team and released the Doomsday Beast from the energy barrier.
On the other side, the battle between Austin and Death Star seems to be yielding no results. With Austin's strength in this state, it is almost impossible to defeat Death Star. The fight has dragged on to this point, and it is merely a game of teasing from the other side.
"We've been playing this game for thousands of years. I understand why you turned your back on the Divine Dragon Realm... but." Austin gazed at the other person, who had once been like a brother and a trusted comrade in arms without question.
"What I don't understand is why you serve the destiny slaves. All the Stellaron Hunters I've encountered have walked this path for their own goals. And you? What makes you, who once lost faith in me and the Divine Dragon Realm, now follow his orders?"
"That's the question, isn't it, Austin? But sorry, my business is no longer with you." Death Star pointed his weapon at Austin. His eyes, though shining, were not like the man he used to be. "Now we are on different paths. Due to the circumstances, we meet again, so we fight. That's all there is to it."
"Well, that's true, Zol... that's all there is to it." Austin's eyes narrowed under his helmet, and his brows, which had been furrowed into a knot, slowly relaxed. "Then let's stop this pointless chatter."
The large black sword in Austin's hand vanished into thin air, replaced by another sword. It was a long, slender blade with a sharp, pointed tip. The edge of the blade had a pattern resembling a saw. The sword's body was black, interwoven with red and silver lines. The guard was a dragon's head with horns, the grip wrapped in black and silver patterns, and the end of the hilt adorned with a flame symbol.
"Even though this is just a diminished form, don't think you can easily defeat me now that I'm weaker, Zol."
"Wow~" Death Star whistled when he saw the sword in Austin's hand. The eyes beneath the helmet trembled slightly. "Cloud Gather, the sword you made from your own spine. I didn't think you would go so far as to bring out the sword of ruination."
It is Austin's beloved sword, whose name and title are renowned throughout the Abyss Domain. It is one of Austin's two signature swords, and just taking it out makes anyone in the Abyss Domain tremble, but not because the sword has any special power.
"Well, if I don't get serious, will I be able to match a monster like you in this body?"
"Ah... at first, I just wanted to tease a little, but it turned out I had to survive with all my might..."
Both stared at the tips of each other's weapons for a moment, gauging each other's next move. Until the long moment that felt like hours ended, they lunged at each other with speed.
But just as the two golden lights were about to clash, an energy explosion erupted from the space station, causing both to stop just a breath away from the moment their blades would collide.
"It seems like the fun time is over," Death Star said, stepping back. "See you next time, Austin. Good luck." Austin saw the other party's demeanor and tried to stop them, but as he swung his sword, the other party vanished with Infinity Intercept, one of the techniques Austin had invented himself and taught to the other party.
"Fast as the wind, just like a raven..." Seeing that chasing it would be a waste of time, he took off his armor and hurried back to the space station to see what was really going on. "Klein, what's the situation?"
As soon as he arrived in Austin, he quickly asked about what was happening while using his fiery eyes to stare at the girl with gray hair, where the Stellaron within her body was currently erupting uncontrollably.
Austin extended his hand forward, using his power to touch the stellarron that was rushing out until it was within his grasp. Then, he controlled it to flow inward little by little while placing a power barrier around himself.
"It's my fault for being careless. When Doomday Beast was taken down, it unleashed its final attack. At that moment, March was within the attack range, but that kid stepped in to take the hit instead. And then, as you can see."
"...Careless, you?" His sharp eyes turned towards Klein, as if he could somewhat guess what Klein was thinking during the time he was stalling with the Death Star. "Don't let it happen again. Even if you don't understand anything, Himeko and the train are like my home and family in this space. Even if they are members I've just met, that relationship has no exceptions. Am I clear?"
"Yes, Your Majesty, it will never happen again." After the conversation, Austin pulled the Stellaron back in, sealing it within her body as before. Although what he did was merely redirecting the erupting energy back, it meant that this girl's body had the special ability to contain the Stellaron on its own.
"Go, check on the others to see if they are injured. And don't do anything reckless again."
"Yes, Your Majesty." Klein crossed his arms over his chest and bowed his head slightly before walking out.
