First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 1929: Qin Yixian

The elegantly handsome young man obviously took Su Yi for a mighty demon expert.

In response to Su Yi’s question, he said with the utmost respect, “That’s right! It’s just as you said, Your Excellency. My mother was a cursed, lowly immortal slave, and her suffering was well deserved! But I’m different. I have immortal blood, but my father was a mighty demon expert. Unfortunately, he left to wage war against the Immortal Realm a long time ago, and he never returned.”

When the young man spoke of his father, his expression filled with grief. “Were that not the case, I would never have wound up in this state. Fortunately, you’ve come to save us. If not for you, I’d have been sold into slavery!”

Suddenly, someone else said in a quavering voice, “I feel the same way! Although I was born to a lowly immortal slave, I’ve always considered myself a demon of the Spirit Domain. So long as you give me an opportunity, I’ll spend my life fighting by your side!”

The man’s eyes suddenly flashed with ruthlessness, and he said smugly, “To tell the truth, Your Excellency, last year, I slew the lowly immortal slave who birthed me with my own two hands. She was unworthy to be my mother. That immortal bitch was even lowlier than dogs and pigs!”

Su Yi was stunned. Seeing the man talk of matricide with such excitement and glee stoked the flames of fury in his heart. He could barely suppress them.

There were numerous factions of demons throughout the Spirit Domain. Unlike the Immortal Realm, the Spirit Domain had a strict hierarchy. One's position within this hierarchy was based on one's bloodline, with the Nine Great Demon Races at the top.

Half-breeds were at the bottom, even if both parents were demons. As for those descended from immortals? They were the lowest of the low even among half-breeds!

These immortal slaves’ mothers were all captives taken from the Immortal Realm, enslaved, and defiled. Their children were born into slavery and given unerasable slave brands as soon as they left the womb.

In the Spirit Domain, such half-breed slaves almost inevitably lived miserable lives. The men were enslaved and worked to death, while the women were sold into prostitution.

Su Yi knew all of this full well. Still, he would never have guessed that these descendants of immortals would hate not the demons who’d enslaved them, but the immortal blood coursing through their veins.

One of them… had even killed his own mother in a fit of madness!

This was more than just lacking conscience. It was simply sick and depraved.

He took a moment to steady his heart, then looked at the others. “And what about the rest of you?”

Several others hurriedly expressed their loathing for their immortal blood, and they weren’t faking it, either. They obviously were seizing this opportunity to vent their long pent-up resentment. Only a few said nothing.

Suddenly, a young, delicate woman in plain cloth robes shouted, “I’m different from them!”

She looked nervous, and it seemed that speaking up had taken all of her courage. Her fists were tight, and she bit down hard on her lower lip.

Su Yi looked at her. “How are you different?”

“I’ve never hated the immortal blood flowing through my veins!” the woman gnashed her teeth. “And I won’t change my mind, not even if you kill me!”

Uproar ensued. Many of the others looked at her as if she’d gone insane. Is she trying to get herself killed?

The elegantly handsome young man shouted, “Stupid bitch! If not for your immortal blood, how could you have been sold into slavery or treated like livestock?”

The woman took a deep breath, and her gaze filled with determination. “It was the demons of the Spirit Domain who did this to me! What does my bloodline have to do with it? How does being born with immortal blood make me a sinner?”

She looked at Su Yi. “I’ve said all I have to say. Do with me as you see fit!”

The atmosphere was stifled and tense. Many of the others looked at the woman with pity.

But then, Su Yi asked, “Do you want to return to the Immortal Realm?”

The crowd was stunned. They almost dared not believe their ears. The woman in plain cloth robes was stunned too.

Su Yi said warmly, “Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Su Yi, and I’m from the Immortal Realm. I’ve come to the Spirit Domain to wipe out the Nine Great Demon Races.”

Boom!

The crowd was dumbstruck. They felt as if they’d been struck by lightning. They’d taken Su Yi for a mighty demon expert. Who’d have thought they’d completely misjudged him!?

The kneeling handsome youth and the others panicked, the blood draining from their faces. How is this possible? How could someone from the Immortal Realm be walking around the Spirit Domain like this?

And he says he wants to flatten the Nine Great Spirit Races? Is… is he insane!?

The woman’s eyes widened, but she looked confused—and skeptical. There was no doubt about it; she found this hard to believe.

“I understand! You’re… You’re His Excellency the Eternal Night Immortal Sovereign!” an old man suddenly cried out in excitement. “That demon scum was talking about you earlier. They said you broke through Celestial Wolf Gate and fought your way into the Spirit Domain!”

He was practically dancing with excitement.

The others gasped. They finally understood.

The name “Su Yi” was unfamiliar to them, but talk of the Tyrant had taken the Spirit Domain by storm over the past few days. Even lowly slaves like them had overheard demon experts talking about it.

It was just that they could never have guessed that the young man in blue they met outside of Thousandflame City was the Tyrant the demons feared and loathed above all others!

“The Eternal Night Immortal Sovereign….?” The woman in plain robes was obviously excited too; her eyes lit up.

But the elegantly handsome youth and the others paled as they recalled what they’d said earlier. They were on the verge of breaking down completely.

“That’s right. That’s me,” said Su Yi. “There’s no need to hide it.”

He looked at the woman in plain robes. “If you’d like, I’ll take you with me when I leave the Spirit Domain.”

Silence descended over the crowd. Everyone had complicated looks on their faces. Many of the immortal descendants looked at her with unconcealed envy.

They were immortal slaves, the lowliest inhabitants of the Spirit Domain, but even so, they knew that winning the Eternal Night Immortal Sovereign’s was enough to change your destiny.

“I…” Waves of emotion crashed through the woman’s heart.

But just as the others thought she was about to agree, she shook her head!

“I’ve lived in the Spirit Domain from the moment of my birth, and my mother said that as a half-demon, I’ll be rejected and viewed with enmity even if I return to the Immortal Realm!”

Her voice was full of bitterness. This was what it meant to be “between a rock and a hard place.”

In the Spirit Domain, her immortal blood consigned her to a life of slavery, but in the Immortal Realm, others would despise her for her demon blood!

Su Yi’s emotions stirred as he recalled Wang Ye’s origins. Wang Ye’s mother had been defiled by a demon expert too. Demonic blood had flowed through his veins, too.

When he was still just a little boy, his mother risked it all to send him back to the Immortal Realm, only for them to lock him in a cage. He’d only narrowly escaped death.

This woman’s background was far, far too similar to Wang Ye’s!

Actually, Su Yi knew that Wang Ye’s story wasn’t unique. He was sure there were numerous others like him and the woman in plain cloth robes throughout the Spirit Domain.

“If you’re willing, I can resolve those difficulties for you,” Su Yi said solemnly.

But the woman in plain cloth robes shook her head. “Senior, if you really want to help me, I hope… I hope you can give me an opportunity to cultivate.”

“Why?” asked Su Yi.

The depths of the woman’s gaze blazed with hatred. “I want to avenge my mother! I want to kill the demons who enslaved us. They’re the ones who did this to us!

“I might be lowly and weak, but if you give me the opportunity, I’ll change that. I won’t let them call us immortal slaves or treat us like livestock any longer!”

Complete silence greeted this declaration. The way the others looked at the woman changed. It seemed that none of them had anticipated that such a delicate beauty would speak with such conviction.

Su Yi looked at her appreciatively. “Is there anything else?”

The woman hesitated, then said softly, “I once longed to change the Spirit Domain completely. I wanted to overturn the order imposed by the Nine Great Demon Races, but… I know it’s an unrealistic dream….”

“Unrealistic?” Su Yi’s gaze was profound and solemn. “No, I can give you the opportunity. Whether you can seize it or not is up to you.”

The woman shook and looked at him in disbelief.

“First, tell me your name,” said Su Yi.

“Qin Yixian!” The woman in plain robes said without missing a beat.

“Yixian? As in ‘to remember immortality?’ Does your name symbolize nostalgia for the Immortal Realm?” whispered Su Yi.

As he spoke, he swung his sleeves.

Splurt splurt splurt!

A muffled impact rang out, and a few dozen people, including the elegantly handsome young man, died on the spot. The others’ hair stood on end, and their expressions filled with horror.

But Su Yi simply continued, “I’m sure there’s scum like that all over the Spirit Domain. I can’t stamp all of them out myself. How about I leave this task to you?”

Qin Yixian didn’t miss a beat. “If I’m capable of it, I’ll do it. I won’t spare a single one of them!”

Su Yi then walked up to her and brushed his fingertip against her forehead, erasing the ugly, eye-catching slave brand.

At the same time, he left a legacy imprint in her sea of consciousness.

“I’ve given you the opportunity. What happens next is up to you.”

With that, Su Yi turned and left. Su Yi was gratified to see a descendant of immortals with such extraordinary character here in the Spirit Domain.

But that was the extent of it. The path of cultivation was not easily walked. All he could do was give Qin Yixian an opportunity. Ultimately, how far she could walk was up to her.

When I clean up the Nine Great Demon Races, the Spirit Domain’s order is sure to crumble, plunging its lands into chaos, thought Su Yi. And chaos is an opportunity to rise. If Qin Yixian seizes this opportunity, she might well rise to prominence.

With that, the Sky-Covering Boat carried Su Yi through the air at top speeds. He was headed for Nightslayer Ridge!
