Chapter 760: Restraining one’s own emotions

Wen Ran called after him just as he was about to turn around, “Qin Mu, come in first, I’ll make a hangover soup for you.”

Looking at his state, he seemed to have had more than a couple of drinks, probably quite a few.

Given his current physical condition, it was not advisable to drink.

Considering the situation that night, drinking seemed unavoidable, or else An Lin wouldn’t have let him drink.

Qin Mu was a little taken aback, looking at her with astonishment in his eyes.

Wen Ran gently smiled and said, “It’s very bad for your body like this. Aunt Qin called to inquire about you in the afternoon, and it’s been less than a day, and you’re drinking. How am I supposed to explain to Aunt Qin?”

“Ranran.”

A strange glint passed through Qin Mu’s eyes, his voice low and a little hoarse, his eyebrows slightly furrowed due to his headache.

Wen Ran glanced at him and turned into the room.

Qin Mu stood tall at the entrance for a few seconds before taking a step forward and following her into the living room.

Wen Ran went into the kitchen to make him some hangover soup.

Qin Mu sat on the living room sofa, his body leaning lazily against it, faint signs of fatigue on his face as he gently massaged his temples.

The silence of the room was interrupted only occasionally by a slight noise from the kitchen.

Qin Mu’s gentle gaze fell on the slender figure in the kitchen, feeling a warmth he had never experienced before.

For a moment, he really wanted to get up, go into the kitchen, and tell her that he liked her.

If Mo Xiuchen never returned, and if indeed she and Mo Xiuchen could never be together, then he would always be by her side.

Wen Ran was quick, and before long she came out with a bowl of hangover soup.

“It’s ready to drink.”

She placed the hangover soup in front of Qin Mu. He smiled and said, “Ranran, thank you.”

Then he picked up the bowl and drained it in one sitting. He got up, handed the bowl to her, and said softly, “You should get some rest as well, I should go home.”

“Hmm.”

Wen Ran nodded.

She saw him to the door and closed it after watching Qin Mu walk into the stairwell.

An Lin seemed to have the timing down perfectly.

Not two minutes after Qin Mu left, Wen Ran’s phone rang. An Lin said over the phone, “Ranran, Ah Mu drank a lot tonight. Did you make him some hangover soup to drink?”

Wen Ran was initially taken aback, but then she looked in the direction of the French window.

Amusedly, she asked, “An Lin, did you install a surveillance camera in my house? Qin Mu just left my place.”

“I estimated the timing. I knew that Ah Mu would go home and first drop by your place. And seeing him drink so much, you surely wouldn’t sit idly by.”

An Lin laughed on the other end of the phone; tonight, although Qin Mu had rushed to the dinner banquet, his heart wasn’t really there. How could someone as smart as An Lin not know?

Originally, she had intended not to let Qin Mu drink, and to finish the drinks herself. Qin Mu wasn’t fully recuperated yet, so drinking was damaging to his health.

However, he insisted on drinking, and An Lin couldn’t stop him.

In fact, Qin Mu drank a lot. He must have been tipsy, it just wasn’t evident on the surface.

On the way back, Qin Mu was lightly pressing his forehead all the time, and there was a trace of desolation on his handsome face.

She wanted to have the driver take him upstairs, but he refused, stating that he could go up by himself.

An Lin sat in the car by the roadside downstairs, looked up through the glass window at a specific window above.

That was the floor where Qin Mu lived. She waited by the roadside for twenty minutes until that window lit up, after which she dialed the phone.

Wen Ran sat down in front of the sofa and answered softly, “I made a hangover soup for Qin Mu. Don’t worry, he just drank it before going home.”

“Ranran, you should rest early too.”

There was silence on An Lin’s end for a few seconds, she seemed to want to say something but didn’t in the end.

The next day, Mo Jingteng went to the police station to see Mo Zixuan.

At the time of his visit, Zhou Lin had just left after visiting Mo Zixuan, holding her daughter in her arms. Outside the station, Mo Jingteng had the driver stop the car, he rolled down the car window and called out to Zhou Lin.

In the hot sun, Zhou Lin looked at Mo Jingteng with a calm expression and asked with detached indifference, “What can I help Chairman Mo with?”

Just a few days ago, she had sought his help to save Zixuan, but Mo Jingteng had told her mercilessly that he would not save a useless person.

At the time, Zhou Lin felt nothing but sadness and resentment towards Mo Jingteng.

Wen Ran was unwilling to forgive Mo Zixuan because she was the victim.

But Mo Jingteng, he was Mo Zixuan’s father, and it’s often said that even the most vicious tiger will not devour its cubs.

When Mo Zixuan’s usefulness came to an end, he was discarded. What was he doing at the police station now? Could it be that he was here to see Zixuan?

Mo Jingteng looked at Zhou Lin’s cold, guarded eyes, his sharp gaze sweeping over the infant in her arms, a smile bridged his face, and he asked, “Did you visit Zixuan?”

Zhou Lin frowned, answering in a flat tone, “Yes, if Chairman Mo has no other business, I will leave first.”

“Wait.”

Mo Jingteng’s cold voice stopped Zhou Lin, who was about to depart, as he walked out of the car.

Zhou Lin looked at him puzzled.

Mo Jingteng stood in front of her, his gaze shifted to the infant in her arms.

The little girl was sleeping, her eyes tightly shut, the features on her face bore some resemblance to Mo Zixuan.

Zhou Lin’s brow furrowed tighter, she subconsciously held her daughter closer.

“Have you named the child yet?”

Mo Jingteng’s stern face softened somewhat.

If one didn’t know him better, they might be fooled into thinking that he was a doting father, fond of his granddaughter in front of him.

Zhou Lin felt the alarm bells ringing in her heart. She tightly pursed her lips and said with difficulty, “Yes, her name is Zhou Yuxin.”

“Zhou, shouldn’t she bear the surname Mo? Come with me to see Zixuan. After he gets out, I’ll arrange for your wedding.”

Zhou Lin’s eyes widened in surprise, she stared incredulously at Mo Jingteng.

He actually said he’d arrange their wedding, she was nearly overjoyed.

But thinking of Mo Jingteng’s attitude a few days ago, she realized he had a kind intention now, which certainly had a motive behind it.

“Chairman Mo, I’m sorry, but I’ve seen Zixuan already and I need to go home now.”

After finishing speaking, Zhou Lin turned to leave with her baby, as if fearful that staying a moment longer would result in Mo Jingteng snatching her child away.

“You go home and think it over. If you’re willing to marry Zixuan, give me a call. If you’re not, I’ll arrange another blind date for him.”

Mo Jingteng didn’t try to stop Zhou Lin from leaving, but took his time to remind her.

His tone was resolute.

Watching Zhou Lin enter a taxi in a fluster and speed away, Mo Jingteng’s gaze darkened slightly.

Given her attitude towards him, he guessed rightly.

Zixuan had definitely made some kind of deal with Wen Jin. Since Wen Jin would let him go, as his father, he certainly couldn’t allow his son to see him as an enemy. Expressing some care was necessary.
