With her husband’s safety at stake, Huang Rong had no time to worry about what had just happened. Her expression grew serious as she nodded.

“Follow the plan,” Song Qingshu instructed her, then covered his face with a black cloth. Watching for a gap in the patrols, he slipped into the sky prison like a breeze. Before the guards inside could react, he swiftly subdued them by striking their acupoints.

When Huang Rong followed him inside and saw the guards frozen, her tongue clicked in astonishment. ‘This guy’s lightness skill is terrifying. Thankfully, I’m not his enemy.’

Unknowingly, Huang Rong had already begun to subconsciously regard Song Qingshu as one of her own.

A voice of anger faintly reached them from a distance. 

Huang Rong immediately recognized it as Ouyang Feng’s and quickened her pace, wanting to lend Song Qingshu a hand.

Soon, she saw a flash of movement. 

Not far away, Song Qingshu was locked in battle with Ouyang Feng. When he saw her approach, he quickly shouted, “Go save Hero Guo!”

Ouyang Feng’s eyes nearly bulged when he saw Huang Rong. “Huang Rong!” he hissed, his rage burning bright. ‘If Ouyang Ke hadn’t died because of her, I wouldn’t have gone mad for so many years. I must avenge this grudge!’

Without another thought for Song Qingshu, he unleashed his Toad Skill and lunged at Huang Rong. His palm wind was so sharp that Huang Rong found it hard to breathe. In a hurry, she raised her Dog-Beating Staff to block it. However, she knew that facing Ouyang Feng’s full-force strike driven by hatred, it would be difficult to stop.

Song Qingshu’s eyes narrowed. He realized that if Ouyang Feng’s attack landed, Huang Rong would be in danger. With a swift leap, he was already in front of her, protecting her behind him.

“You go save him!” Ouyang Feng’s rage was undeniable, and Song Qingshu had no choice but to deal with him cautiously. Within the blink of an eye, they exchanged several palm strikes. The shockwaves from their strikes made the walls tremble, and the dirt fell from the ceiling as the entire prison shook.

Huang Rong, who was quick-thinking, saw that Ouyang Feng was distracted by Song Qingshu. Without hesitation, she immediately ran toward the cell where Guo Jing was being held.

At a glance, Huang Rong’s tears began to fall uncontrollably. Guo Jing was tied to a pillar, his clothes in tatters, covered in blood, clearly having endured tremendous torture these past few days.

What made her blood boil with rage was that two heavy iron chains were pierced through his shoulder blades. The chains were a cruel method of torture, specifically designed to prevent the victim from using their martial arts, rendering them powerless. It was evident that the enemy feared Guo Jing’s strength and had subjected him to this inhumane treatment.

Thinking of her husband enduring such torment while she had been flirting with other men, Huang Rong felt a wave of guilt overwhelm her. She could not hold back her sobs.

Hearing the noise, Guo Jing forced his eyes open and was startled to see Huang Rong in front of him. “Rong’er, why are you here? Go, it’s too dangerous here.”

Seeing that Guo Jing was still thinking of her at a time like this, Huang Rong’s guilt deepened. She quickly wiped her tears and reassured him, “Don’t worry, Brother Jing, Rong’er is here to save you.”

She then picked up a nearby dagger and, with several swift cuts, freed Guo Jing from his shackles. 

Guo Jing, who had been relying on the chains to stay upright, collapsed to the ground the moment the chains were removed.

“Brother Jing!” Huang Rong was startled and hurriedly helped him up.

Seeing Guo Jing freed, Ouyang Feng was furious and unleashed his Toad Skill with full force. Unfortunately, he could still not break past the masked figure in front of him. Unable to restrain himself any longer, he roared, “Surnamed Song, don’t think I won’t recognize you just because you’re masked. Are you really willing to forsake our past friendship for this woman?”

Unmasked, Song Qingshu awkwardly smiled. “Old man Ouyang, what a coincidence. We meet again.”

“Coincidence, my foot!” Ouyang Feng fumed. “Are you really going to save him?”

Song Qingshu shrugged. “Old man, you’re my friend, but Huang Rong is also my friend. Normally, I wouldn’t help either of you, but since she can’t beat you, and I’m worried that you might kill her in a fit of rage, I’ll have to lend a hand.”

Seeing Ouyang Feng’s face turn black with anger, Song Qingshu hurriedly added, “Actually, I treat both of you equally. If you were being beaten by her, I would’ve helped you too.”

“I, the Western Poison, one of the Five Greats of the Central Plains, can’t even defeat her?” Ouyang Feng laughed bitterly. “You clearly have forgotten your loyalty, letting a woman come between friends.”

Song Qingshu was left speechless, but Huang Rong couldn’t take it anymore. Usually, she might have let it slide, but in front of her husband, she couldn’t let her integrity be tainted. She scolded, “Old Poison, did you not brush your teeth this morning? My relationship with Young Master Song is clean and clear, as pure as the moon in the sky. How dare you tarnish my reputation?”

Though Huang Rong spoke with righteousness, only she knew how forced her words sounded after the events of the previous night. ‘I’m clean and clear?’ Maybe just ‘clean’ would have been more fitting.

Ouyang Feng burst into laughter. “Clean and clear? Didn’t you two… in that cave…”

Huang Rong’s heart raced in panic. Fearing he might say something else embarrassing, she was relieved that Song Qingshu had already taken the chance to attack, causing Ouyang Feng to focus entirely on him.

Huang Rong finally let out a sigh of relief, but then noticed that Guo Jing was glancing between her and Song Qingshu in confusion. Feeling a bit guilty, she quickly said, “Brother Jing, don’t listen to that old poisoner’s nonsense. I…”

Guo Jing smiled and shook his head. “Rong’er, how could I doubt you? I’m just curious how you know such a powerful martial artist.”

“Brother Jing, he… he’s the Song Qingshu I mentioned to you before,” Huang Rong said. For some reason, just saying his name made her heart skip a beat.

“Oh, so it’s him. A true hero of the young generation. If Fu’er can really marry him, it would be her good fortune indeed,” Guo Jing said, his eyes bright with admiration.
