The opposing coach reminded his players to keep a close eye on Lu Junfeng. Clearly, this newly substituted powerhouse posed a significant threat! Although this style of play as a tall center forward did not align with Arsenal's usual tactics, it was indeed effective against tight defenses!
Lu signaled to his teammate taking the corner kick: "Just aim for my head, I'll deliver a powerful header!" His heading might not be his strong suit, but the opposing defenders were neither as tall nor as strong, so a simple nudge with his head should suffice for a goal.
The corner was taken, and sure enough, it flew towards Lu's position. He shook off the defender holding him back and leaped with all his might! "I'm going for a powerful header…" Oh no! That goalkeeper managed to get in front and punched the ball away! Fortunately, Arsenal players still controlled the ball outside the box.
"Pass it to me! Pass it to me! Watch me smash it in with my header! Hey, why are you shooting?!" A teammate took a long-range shot that hit a defender. The ball didn't bounce far and was quickly regained by an Arsenal player. Then there were consecutive passes and shots as the opposing players kept blocking. The penalty area was chaotic, with players constantly falling over.
Unexpectedly, the ball bounced around and landed not far from Lu. He took a step forward and unleashed another half-turn left-footed blast! This powerful shot left the opposing goalkeeper with no time to react! "Boom!" The football hit the back of the net!
Goal!!!!!!! Arsenal leads 1-0 against West Ham United! Lu excitedly ran to the corner flag, pounding his chest and roaring! Unfortunately, there weren't many spectators on the sidelines to share that overwhelming atmosphere with him! His teammates surrounded him, offering their congratulations. The reserve team coach was equally pleased. This guy is indeed impressive; he changed the game as soon as he stepped on the field. It seems he deserves more opportunities.
The match continued. With little time remaining, West Ham's reserves had no choice but to push forward and attack if they didn't want to lose. Whether they conceded one or two goals made no difference; they wouldn't earn any points. But if they pushed up and scored one, they had a chance for at least one point, so they had no options left.
Under fierce pressure from the opposition, Arsenal's formation tightened up. This gave Lu more chances for counter-attacks. Seeing his teammate win possession from the opponent, he immediately waved: "Brothers! Pass it! Just give it!" A long pass found Lu.
"Hey, here comes the ball! Watch me make a perfect stop… Oh no, I stopped it too far ahead. But that's okay; I'm fast enough to recover!" By the time Lu controlled the ball, an opposing defender was already on him. But suddenly, Lu executed a quick turn and took off with the ball, breaking through directly into a one-on-one situation!
At this moment, West Ham's formation was too high upfield, leaving their goalkeeper unprotected. "Ha ha! Did you expect that? I'm a speedster winger! I'm off like a rocket! You'll be eating my dust!" The opponent didn't anticipate Lu's speed with the ball!
This tall and strong guy shouldn't be so agile as a bulky center forward? Once he shook off the defender, they couldn't catch up. The opposing goalkeeper hesitated, unsure whether to charge out or stay on his line. Lu wasn't one to hold back! Once in the penalty area, he disregarded everything else and faced the goalkeeper with a right-footed blast!
"Boom!" The opposing goalkeeper couldn't manage to save it amidst his hesitation. Another goal! Goal!!!!!!! It was now 2-0! Victory was secured!
"How about that, brothers? This is what I mean by 'just give it'?!" Lu shouted with laughter. The coach on the sidelines nodded repeatedly. This guy is quite interesting; it seems this situation needs to be reported. The first team is currently lacking a center forward.
Thanks to substitute sensation Lu Junfeng's brace, Arsenal's reserves defeated West Ham United reserves 2-0. After the match, Lu received praise from the coaching staff encouraging him to continue training hard and promising him more playing time in the next match.
What excited him even more was receiving a system notification that his template compatibility increased by 1%, reaching 45%! What's going on? How did compatibility change after nearly two years without any movement? Is it because of Arsenal's good fortune? Or does Arsenal's tactical style suit the growth of the Messi template?
Whatever the reason may be, since playing here can increase compatibility, there's no doubt about it; he needs to raise that compatibility above 80% here! If he switches clubs again, who knows if it will increase? Lu suddenly felt optimistic about his future!
To gain more playing opportunities, he decided to stay behind and practice center forward skills. After all, he only played ten minutes as a substitute; he wasn't tired at all! One teammate knew about his intention to practice more and offered to stay with him.
This person was named Nicholas Yennaris. He has half Chinese heritage; his mother is an immigrant from Southern China. Thus, he resembles someone from China in appearance. He joined Arsenal's youth academy at eight years old and captained Arsenal's U18 team to victory in championships. He has also been selected for England's U17, U18, and U19 teams.
In Lu's previous life before rebirth, Yennaris eventually changed nationality to Chinese and was selected for China's national team. He even adopted a Chinese name: Li Ke. Because of their shared heritage, Lu quickly formed a good relationship with Li Ke after arriving at Arsenal.
Li Ke knew that with his abilities, he would not be able to break into Arsenal's first team. He anticipated looking for opportunities in lower leagues next season and even asked Lu about domestic football leagues in China. Unfortunately, Lu had been in Europe since he was 12 years old and wasn't familiar with conditions back home.
