Forgotten Legend of the Bloodied Flower

Chapter 2437: Good News

"You…" Old Madam Long wanted to continue cursing Old Master Nan when he saw Nan Hua coming in. The words she was about to say were all swallowed back to her throat and she laughed out loudly. "Hua'er, you're back. Let grandma see you."

"Yes, Grandma," Nan Hua replied.

"Hua'er!" Old Master Nan, who thought that Old Madam Long had given up, immediately lit up when he heard the name Old Madam Long uttered. He turned his head around and saw Nan Hua walking towards them.

Nan Hua was dressed neatly in light blue brocade and her every steps were elegant. She curtsied when she saw Old Master Nan and Old Madam Long in accordance to etiquette. Your next chapter is on empire

To be honest, none of them would care about it.

But since Nan Hua is back to using women's dresses, she let herself got used to perform etiquette and many others to blend better. After all, Nan Hua knew that both the Long Family and the Nan Family were family with high status in Fei Yang Kingdom.

She had to perform in what was expected from the people from these families.

"Why didn't you say anything when you're about to come back?" Old Master Nan complained but his eyes were clearly filled with tenderness. He was still very happy to be able to see Nan Hua coming back safe and sound.

"I'm back, Grandpa," Nan Hua said softly and walked to the two of them. After not seeing them for some time, she could see that these two people were still quite healthy. It seemed that they were also taking care of themselves well during this period of time.

"That kid Long Qian Xing didn't bully you, right?"

"Nonsense! My grandson is not that kind of person," Old Madam Long immediately refuted.

Her grandson is very good and Old Madam Long would not want to hear others talking bad about him but her. Besides, Old Madam Long felt that if Long Qian Xing were to bully Nan Hua, she would be the first one to beat him up.

Of course, if Nan Hua were to tell her that her grandson did something bad, Old Madam Long will definitely punish him.

"Qian Xing treated me well, Grandpa," Nan Hua said helplessly.

Every single time she met with her grandfather, he seemed to think that Long Qian Xing was bullying her. In fact, Long Qian Xing treated her so well and would care for her. She would also pay attention to him and would not mistreat him.

His concern still made Nan Hua felt warm, though.

Because she knew that her grandfather was worrying for her.

"That's good." Old Master Nan nodded in satisfaction.

Old Madam Long smiled proudly and then patted Nan Hua's hand. "Take a seat. It must have taken you a long time to come back this time. Did anything happen on the journey?"

"No." Nan Hua shook her head. Nothing happened on her way back and everything was going smoothly. "The road around Cheng City has been cleaned up in the past few years and there's no one who will make trouble in this area, Grandma."

Along with Emperor Yang Zhou's rise to power and reformation, there were more and more things that changed. One of them was related to these roads that Emperor Yang Zhou built rapidly to facilitate the army's movement.

While going through the forest route and the other existing paths were not impossible, but it was too slow to move a large number of soldiers.

Because of that, they rebuilt longer and larger street.*

These roads helped the soldiers to go to various places faster, so many people were not willing to make trouble. Before they finished, the soldiers might have already arrived and apprehended them.

Moreover, the laws here were quite strict.

For these troublemakers, death penalty was not uncommon.

After all, Fei Yang Kingdom had to show their stances and Emperor Yang Zhou had conquered the land through using his swords and soldiers. There was no problem even if he continued to use them to maintain the peace in Fei Yang Kingdom.

"That's true." Old Madam Long nodded.

One of the disadvantages of being in Fei Yang Kingdom's former Capital City was that there were various developments that happened in Fei Yang Kingdom would focus here. This meant that they were a bit more advanced compared to various other cities.

But since Emperor Yang Zhou would move the capital city, it was clear that this situation would't last that long.

They would have to focus more on that city.

"Has the Capital City truly been moved?" Old Master Nan suddenly asked. He did hear some people said about these things, but he didn't pay that much attention. After all, he didn't want to bother with it.

For one, even if it was moved, he didn't want to leave here.

Author's Note: Roads

I don't remember if I have mentioned this before but the road building during war time was actually kind of tactic used to conquer the enemy's land faster through being able to send soldiers and deliver information faster. In the civil war in US, one of the reasons why the Union won could also be attribute to the technology of train that helped to bring the soldiers faster. Along the way, they would build train rails in the areas they conquered.

This era certainly couldn't built train and from the reference I took for this novel based on the real era, there was a long 750 KM military road (estimated total length) built for the conquest and unification. I also watched a documentary about the length and based on the archeologist and historian, it was estimated that the wide of the road could even fit more than 5 cars side by side.

It was really wide and there was no cars in this era, but carriages. It was estimated that several carriages could go side by side on these roads and reached their destination faster since the road made it easier for them to travel.
