"Yes, that must be it! Hurry, we will have to report to the captain!" The patrol team leader realized who had slaughtered all the robbers.

They quickly ran back to the campsite.

"Captain....Captain...." The patrol team leader shouted as he ran into the captain's tent.

The captain who was cutting a piece of lamb meat and was in the process of putting it into his mouth wasn't pleased with the sudden intrusion.

He put the piece of meat down and he pointed his knife at the patrol team leader, "It better be important or else..."

The captain turned the knife downwards and plunged it down onto the table.

"Captain.. I... The robbers..." The patrol team leader was out of breath and couldn't string a proper sentence together.

"Catch your breath and then report!" The captain shouted.

The patrol team leader quickly took a few deep breaths.

When he finally caught his breath, the patrol team leader said, "The robbers had been killed by those merchants who were here to exchange the ransom for the hostages."

"How many of the robbers are still alive?" The captain asked as he pulled out the knife from the table.

"None." The patrol team leader shook his head and said.

"You mean none of them died or..."

"Yes, none of them survived. All of them are slaughtered."

"What!" The captain couldn't believe what he had heard.

These robbers weren't weak and were at least Qi Concentration Level.

How were these merchants able to slaughter them all?

It was, however, not the time for him to figure it out.

The captain quickly shouted and gave out his instructions, "Turn out the whole camp, search and kill them off!"

"Yes, captain!" Soldiers bowed and got to work immediately.

Soon the two hundred soldiers assembled at the open area of the campsite.

"Captain, they must have gotten away using another path as we didn't see them coming through the campsite." A soldier bowed and reported.

"Isn't that obvious! Go and search for them now!" The captain shouted at the soldier.

"Captain, I know which path they must have taken." Another soldier put up his hand and said.

"What are you waiting for then! Lead the way." The captain got onto his horse and the soldier quickly did so.

He slapped the back of the horse and galloped away.

The other soldiers followed behind.

"Argh.." Huang Shi's brother groaned when the horse suddenly jerked due to the uneven terrain.

"Brother, hang on in there. We are getting close to Yun Dian City." Huang Shi, who was on his horse beside him, went over and tried to hold onto his brother.

Huang Shi's brother nodded his head, and he waved his hand; he knew they couldn't stop.

"Hurry." Lin Fan suddenly turned back and motioned for them to move forward.

With his Resonant Echo ability, he had heard the soldiers coming from behind.

He handed Ho Ming the map and said, "Get them to safety, I will join up with you soon."

"Do you need me to be around? Just in case you need to use the imperial seal?" Ho Ming asked.

Lin Fan shook his head and said, "Don't worry, I've estimated them to be in the hundreds. Nothing I couldn't handle by myself."

Ho Ming sighed and nodded.

He quickly led Huang Shi and the others to continue traveling along the path.

After a few moments, the sounds of horses galloping could be heard.

The captain shouted at the soldiers in front of him, "Any sight of them yet?"

"No, captain," the soldiers turned back and reported.

However, they started to feel the earth shaking and rocks fell from the top.

They tried to steer the horses away from the rocks.

Some were unfortunate and were crushed by the rocks.

Those that escaped the rocks fell as the ground opened up.

Men and horses fell into the ditch.

The captain and the other soldiers pulled back the reins and stopped.

Sing!

They drew out their swords and looked at their surroundings.

With their flaming torches, they had to try very hard to see who was behind the attack.

"Come out you cowards! The mighty Army of the Lord Marquis of Zhen Nan shall make you pay for this."

The captain wielded his sword in the air and shouted aimlessly.

Lin Fan with his Hunting Grounds ability had caused the rocks to fall and the ground to open.

He clapped his hands and appeared from the dark.

"You! Let your men out and fight like men!" The captain pointed his sword at Lin Fan who was on the other side of the ditch.

He wanted to make his horse jump over the ditch, but decided not to as it was at least ten meters wide.

And if he can't get to Lin Fan, Lin Fan couldn't get to him too, he thought.

Lin Fan shrugged and said, "My men have infiltrated into your camp long time ago."

"Ha ha ha. What an idiot." The captain laughed at Lin Fan with his head up in the air.

What was this man talking about?

He knew all the soldiers as they had been serving the Lord Marquis for over ten years!

How could this man have spies within his troops?

But as he was laughing he felt a gust of cold wind coming at his throat.

The soldier beside him had slashed his sword at him.

"Lim! What are you doing!" The captain parried the sword away in the nick of time.

But Lim didn't stop and continued to slash his sword at the captain.

As the captain parried the sword away, a nasty thought crossed his mind.

Had they really betrayed him and become spies for this man?

Lin Fan smirked as he looked at the scene in front of him.

Soldiers that were close to each other suddenly attacked each other.

Some were even brothers.

But these soldiers didn't listen to the cries and pleas for them to stop.

Lin Fan was using his Centurion ability to control a hundred of the soldiers.

Soon, the soldiers that weren't controlled by him gave up after some of them were killed.

Now they believed what Lin Fan had said.

They'd sold out and worked for him.
