From Murim to Metropolis

Chapter 17: Kill

One by one, Jin Wook crippled Riham's body, his movements precise and merciless. With each shattered limb, Riham's screams filled the underground arena. The crowd watched in stunned silence as Jin Wook delivered the final, brutal act—grabbing Riham's neck and twisting it with a sickening crack. The once-feared champion slumped lifelessly onto the bloodstained floor, his death as painful as it was inevitable.

The audience erupted into a cacophony of disbelief and shock.

Person 1: "What just happened?"

Person 2: "Is he... dead? Just like that?!"

Person 3: "He didn't just defeat him… he crippled him first and then snapped his neck."

Person 4: (Terrified) "Is he even human?"

Person 5: (Excited) "That was... incredible!"

Suddenly, a group of men began approaching the ring. Their presence sent a ripple of unease through the spectators.

Person from the audience: "Hey, look! Those men are coming this way."

Another person: "The Criminal Killer is done for now."

Yet another spectator: "Those guys... they're all high-profile criminals from the wanted list. This is about to get messy."

Meanwhile, in a private viewing area, Richer was still on a video call with Selena, his boss. He kept the camera steady, showing her every moment of the unfolding scene.

Richer: "Boss, killing someone here isn't unusual, but this young man just stirred up something much bigger. What do you want me to do?"

Selena: (chuckling) "Oh my, Richer… have you grown so old that you've started losing your edge?"

Richer: "Boss?"

Selena: "Just watch. If he truly needs help, I've already contacted the underground arena's owner. Let's see what he does first."

Back in the arena, Jin Wook now stood face-to-face with the criminal group.

Criminal 1: "Hey, why the hell did you kill him?"

Criminal 2: "This kid needs to die."

Criminal 3: "Enough talk. Let's just beat him to death!"

Jin Wook slowly raised a single finger and pointed at them, his gaze cold and unwavering.

Jin Wook: "Let me ask you something first… Are all of you criminals? What crimes have you committed?"

The audience murmured in confusion.

Spectator: "Is he insane? Why is he talking instead of running?!"

The criminals hesitated momentarily before one of them laughed.

Criminal 1: (grinning) "Hahaha! Of course, we are! Each one of us is on the most-wanted list. We've killed more people than anyone could count. Kidnapping, robbery, rape… we've done it all."

Jin Wook's expression didn't change, but his grip on his emotions tightened. He turned to face the crowd.

Jin Wook: "You all… you're just visitors, right? You're not criminals?"

The audience exchanged confused looks.

Criminal: "Hah! This fool is asking the audience questions when death is knocking at his door."

Back in the private viewing area, Selena and Richer watched intently.

Richer: "What is he trying to do?"

Selena: (nervous) "I don't know… but I want to see it play out."

Jin Wook continued, his voice unwavering. "Raise your hands if you've killed innocent people or committed heinous crimes."

Not a single hand from the audience went up.

The criminals sneered.

Criminal 1: "What's this nonsense?"

Jin Wook: "So, I should take that to mean all of you here are just visitors… just betting money?"

Audience Member: "What does it matter? What would you do if we were criminals?"

Jin Wook slowly pointed at Riham's lifeless body. "Did you not see?"

A hush fell over the audience.

Audience Member: "But… you killed a man too."

Jin Wook: "Did he not deserve to die? After taking so many innocent lives? Destroying so many families?"

The crowd hesitated. For the first time, doubt flickered in their eyes.

Jin Wook: "You heard their crimes from their own mouths. What do you say? Should they live?"

Silence.

Then, one voice. "Kill them."

Another. "Kill them."

The chant grew. "Kill them! Kill them!"

The criminals tensed, realization dawning too late.

Criminal 1: "Damn it! Enough of this! Kill him!"

They charged.

Jin Wook moved.

In a flash, he grabbed the first criminal and slammed his face into the ground, crushing his skull with a sickening crunch. The second lunged, but Jin Wook intercepted him, twisting his limbs in unnatural angles before shattering his spine. The third barely had time to react before his neck was snapped in a single, fluid motion.

The remaining criminals hesitated, fear creeping into their expressions.

Spectator: "This guy… he's a monster."

Another spectator: "He just killed the most dangerous criminals… in one move each!"

A third spectator: "I can feel the fear… just watching him."

Meanwhile, in the viewing area, Richer felt his own body trembling.

Richer: (whispering) "Boss… are you sure we can handle this man?"

For the first time, Selena felt something unfamiliar creeping into her chest—fear. She clenched her fists, watching Jin Wook's every movement.

Selena: (softly) "I… I don't know."

Back in the ring, the remaining criminals tried to flee.

They never got the chance.

Jin Wook grabbed two and slammed their heads together, shattering their skulls. The last tried to run, but a single devastating kick caved in his chest, rupturing his heart instantly.

Then, silence.

Jin Wook stood in the center of the ring, his clothes stained with blood, his expression unreadable.

The audience, once roaring with excitement, now sat in stunned silence.

Then, voices began to rise.

Spectator: "I… I feel scared."

Another spectator: "That was the most insane thing I've ever seen."

A woman: (eyes shining) "I think… I'm in love."
