Genshin Impact: I'm a Slime

Chapter 10: Chapter 10

"We can't just leave everything to the Knights of Favonius."

Hearing Jean's assurance, Lumine patted her chest, expressing her willingness to contribute to Mondstadt's peace.

"Right, we'll help out too."

Paimon, floating in the air, spun around in agreement.

The group seemed to have forgotten about Famas, who was still attached to Lumine's wrist.

"I'm supposed to be the main character here!"

Famas could only scream internally.

Following the "plot," the group discussed their plan to deal with Dvalin by cutting off the source of his power—the abandoned temples of the Four Winds.

"Tomorrow night, Lumine, Paimon, and Famas will head to the Temple of the Falcon. Kaeya and Amber will handle the Temple of the Lion. Lisa and I will take care of the Temple of the Wolf."

Jean, her voice filled with determination, finalized the plan. She then pulled out a heavy bag from her desk drawer.

"Lumine, since you've just arrived in Mondstadt, take this Mora as compensation for your efforts."

Lumine accepted the bag from Jean and peeked inside, revealing a dazzling golden glow.

"So bright! There must be tens of thousands of Mora in here!"

Paimon dramatically covered her eyes but couldn't resist peeking through her fingers to admire the Mora.

"Actually, tens of thousands of Mora isn't that much, Paimon. It's probably just enough for… a few meals."

Famas, aware of the terrifying inflation rate of Mora, quietly reminded the overly excited Paimon.

Hearing Famas's explanation, Paimon patted her head. "Is that so? I thought it would be enough for a lot of Mondstadt Hash Browns."

"Of course, your head is always full of food, Paimon!"

Famas retorted.

"Thank you, Acting Grand Master Jean. We'll take our leave now!"

Lumine, watching the two bicker, smiled gently and helplessly.

"Ah, wait."

Just as Lumine was about to leave, Jean called out to them.

"Famas is a Pyro Slime. We'll issue a notice to inform the citizens of Mondstadt about his identity, but until then…"

Jean hesitated before continuing, "Please, Mr. Slime… don't wander around, to avoid causing unnecessary panic."

"Understood."

Famas, still wrapped around Lumine's arm, fell silent for a moment before agreeing.

In the thousand years since Famas had transmigrated, no one except Morax had dared to tell him, "Don't wander around."

"I'll just sneak around. No big deal."

With that thought, Famas felt a mischievous sense of satisfaction.

The trio left the Knights of Favonius headquarters and, after some discussion, decided to find an inn to stay at.

---

Not far from the Angel's Share tavern, there was a small inn.

"Welcome! Are you here for a meal or lodging?"

As soon as Lumine, Paimon, and Famas entered, they were greeted by the innkeeper.

"Innkeeper, do you offer both meals and lodging?" Paimon floated up to the thin, young innkeeper, acting like a little adult.

Most of the time, Lumine followed Paimon's lead, so it was natural for Paimon to take charge of the conversation.

"Of course! How many guests?"

The innkeeper rubbed his chin, unsure what to make of the tiny floating figure. It looked human but was so small. Still, business was business, and he welcomed all kinds of customers.

"Do you have a room for three?"

"Actually, we do. It's 3,000 Mora per night. How many nights will you be staying?"

"3,000 per night? That's way too expensive!"

Hearing the price, Paimon nearly lost her ability to float and fell to the ground.

The innkeeper explained, "You don't seem like locals, so you might not know the going rates. Do you know how much a plate of Flaming Red Bolognese costs at Good Hunter? A whopping 2,000 Mora! Our inn charges only 3,000 per night, and we provide free hot water. It's the cheapest deal around. If it weren't for Stormterror causing trouble, it'd usually be 5,000 Mora."

"Is that so?"

Paimon looked at the seemingly honest innkeeper with suspicion.

"Feel free to ask around. If I'm overcharging, you can report me to the Knights of Favonius."

The innkeeper assured Paimon that he wasn't trying to scam them just because they were outsiders.

"Alright, we'll take two nights then."

Paimon reluctantly handed over 6,000 Mora.

"Great! Here's your key. Your room is the first one on the left, second floor."

The innkeeper cheerfully handed the key to Paimon.

"By the way, if you don't mind me asking, there are only two of you, right? Why book a room for three?"

The innkeeper looked curiously at the two—a girl in strange attire and an even stranger floating creature. If they were worried about the cost, they could've just booked a single room.

"None of your business!"

Paimon suddenly remembered Famas. She wasn't even sure of Famas's gender. What if Famas was a boy…

"Ah, I regret this. We should've booked two rooms…"

With endless regret, Paimon's face turned red as she and the oblivious Lumine headed upstairs.

"Paimon, you're my greatest wingman."

Famas, still wrapped around Lumine's wrist, deliberately stayed silent, making Lumine subconsciously forget his presence. It wasn't until they reached their room that Famas, for the first time, actively jumped off Lumine's wrist and returned to his round Slime form.

"Ah, Lumine, I might have something to take care of. I need to head out for a bit."

Famas, still on Lumine's arm, once again sensed Venti's presence—the boundless, wandering wind. However, Venti was no longer at the Cat's Tail Tavern but at the Angel's Share, the tavern owned by Diluc.

As much as Famas wanted to stay and snuggle with Lumine, he decided to prioritize regaining his strength and went to find Venti.

"That guy wouldn't have been kicked out of the Cat's Tail Tavern for not paying his tab, would he?"

Famas shook his head.

"But, Famas, Acting Grand Master Jean said that as a Pyro Slime…"

"It's fine."

Lumine was about to persuade Famas to stay, but for the first time, Famas interrupted her.

"I'll stay hidden."

"Alright then…"

Lumine's face turned slightly red. "Make sure to come back, Famas. Paimon and I are going to take a bath."

"Got it, don't worry… Wait, what are you doing!?"

Famas, who had just jumped up to open the door, suddenly froze upon hearing Lumine's words. With a loud thud, he slammed the door shut.

"Famas, aren't you leaving anymore?"

Lumine looked curiously at the stiffened Slime.

"N-no… I'm not leaving."

Famas's oval eyes widened.

"Lumine! Hugs and snuggles!"
