Genshin Impact: Reincarnated As Fenrir The God Of Chaos

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Until We Meet Again

Astralis. So now I know the name of the world I'm in. Never heard of it before, but at least I wasn't reincarnated into some anime world like in those fanfics I used to read.

But I'm not fully convinced by the book's claims about the gods—not everything, at least. Maybe there's some truth to it, but the idea of so many gods? Nah. He couldn't help but chuckle at the thought.

"Fenrir, do you want to play hide and seek?" Rose asked, closing the book with a grin. "You hide, and I'll count!"

"Okay," he said, a spark of excitement flickering inside him. It had been so long since he had played a game like this.

"Yes!" Rose cheered, spinning around toward a nearby tree. She pressed her hands over her eyes, her forehead resting against the trunk. "Alright, I'm counting! Twenty… nineteen… eighteen…"

"Oh, shoot," Fenrir muttered, scrambling to find a hiding spot. His eyes darted around before landing on a bush nearby. Without wasting a second, he slipped inside, crouching low as he tried to steady his breathing.

"Ready or not, here I come!" Rose's voice rang through the field, her excitement evident in the playful bounce of her steps.

Fenrir crouched deeper into his hiding spot, the rustling leaves barely masking the steady rhythm of his breathing. The cool earth beneath him grounded him, but his mind wandered. The warmth of the day, the laughter echoing through the open fields—it felt almost... peaceful.

But peace was fragile. His ears twitched, catching the soft crunch of Rose's footsteps as she searched. His gaze followed her, the golden light of dusk casting a gentle glow around her. A quiet resolve settled in his chest. He needed to learn magic—not just to survive, but to protect. His claws curled into the dirt. To protect her.

Laughter bubbled through the open field, light and carefree, as Rose and Fenrir ran through the tall grass, the sun warming their skin. The world around them felt peaceful, untouched by anything troubling.

"C'mon, you two, time to eat!" one of the maids called out.

Fenrir and Rose hurried over to the outdoor table where a spread of delicious food awaited them. The sight of the meal made their stomachs rumble, and they eagerly dug in. Fenrir's plate was piled high with meat, perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. They ate until they were both satisfied.

As they ate, Fenrir tried to communicate with Rose the way he had with Luna, through his mind. He sighed, realizing it wasn't working. "I guess it only works with animals," he muttered under his breath. Glancing around to see if anyone was watching, he spoke aloud instead.

"Hey, Rose, can you teach me magic?" he asked, resting his paw on the table.

Rose looked up from her food, her expression thoughtful. "But animals do magic differently than humans," she explained.

"Wait, they do?" Fenrir's ears perked up in interest. "How so?"

"Well, animals don't need to speak the words to cast spells," she said. "They just… do it. But if you want, I'll teach you. I have a book full of spells."

Fenrir's mind raced. Yes, I'll learn as many spells as I can.

They finished their meal, and the day passed quietly as Fenrir delved into the basics of magic. Some spells left him utterly bewildered—like the one that prevented pregnancy, or the one that made hair grow. What kind of spellbook is this? he wondered, watching Rose flip through the pages, safe in the privacy of her room.

Months flew past since his rebirth, and Fenrir had grown significantly. Now, he stood just below Rose's knees, feeling a sense of contentment he hadn't known before. Life, though filled with learning and practice, had brought him happiness.

As Fenrir and Rose practiced magic, Fenrir found himself effortlessly casting spells. His wolf instincts guided him, and the magic responded with ease, almost as if it were an extension of him. He paused, bewildered by how natural it felt. It was as though he had always known how to do this, born not just as a wolf, but as something more.

The door to the study room slammed open, and Aria rushed in, her face drained of color, eyes wide with panic. She didn't waste a moment. "Rose!" Her voice cracked with urgency.

"We need to go, now! Gather what you can, leave your clothes. We're heading to the Capital." Her words tumbled out in a frantic rush, breath shallow as she glanced over her shoulder, as if expecting someone to be right behind her.

Rose scrambled, her hands shaking as she grabbed the few pictures of her family, stuffing them into a bag. Her heart pounded in her chest, panic clawing at her throat. "C'mon, Fenris, let's go," she urged, her voice frantic, though she couldn't quite understand what frightened her more—leaving or the uncertainty of what awaited them.

They rushed down the stairs, their footsteps heavy with urgency. At the bottom, Rose's father and brother stood, sweat beading on their foreheads. Her father's voice cut through the tension, low but firm. "Girls, you must leave now."

He turned to the white wolf beside him, his eyes filled with a mixture of trust and desperation. "Luna, watch over them."

Then, his gaze softened as he looked at Fenrir. "Fenris, keep my baby girl safe," he said, pulling his family into a tight embrace.

Fenrir nodded, his throat tight as he met Oswald's gaze. His eyes shimmered with unshed tears, the weight of the promise pressing down on him. Without a word, he gave his silent vow, his expression conveying everything words could not.

"Prepare the men," Oswald said, giving one last look at the family.

Godric eyes lingering on Aria. "Goodbye, Mother," he said quietly, his voice rough with emotion. "Until we meet again."

"Until we meet again," she whispered, her voice trembling as tears filled her eyes. They hugged tightly, not wanting to let go.

Then Godric turned to Rose, his hands trembling slightly as he brushed a stray lock of hair from her face. He kissed her forehead softly. "My sweet little sister," he murmured, pulling her close. "Please, don't cry."

Rose's tears slipped down her cheeks, her heart aching with the weight of the moment. "Brother," she choked out, pulling him into a tight embrace.

He whispered the same words to her, his voice rough. "Until we meet again."

"Until we meet again," she echoed, her grip tightening, unwilling to let go.

It was the last time any of them would see each other. The battle that awaited them would take their lives, and all that would remain were memories of this farewell.
