Genshin Impact: Selling Pokemons in Teyvat

Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Sacrificing Guoba’s Spicy Meat Buns

"Larvitar, from now on, I'll be your trainer."

Ningguang crouched down and gently stroked Larvitar's small head. Its skin felt dry, as if she were touching a piece of ancient, unyielding stone.

"Lar… Lar…"

Hearing this, Larvitar timidly glanced at Ningguang a few times before finally placing its short arm in her hand.

"Wait, Boss Li, are you sure you're not mistaken? This little thing has potential rivaling a Legendary Pokémon? It doesn't look any stronger than my Shinx!"

Seeing the harmonious interaction between Ningguang and Larvitar, Keqing couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. Her face twisted with envy.

She clearly remembered when she came to buy a Pokémon, Li Pan had merely said that Shinx had "quite good potential." But when it came to Ningguang, he said Larvitar had "potential rivaling an Archon."

Why?

They were both members of the Liyue Qixing. Why was there such a huge gap between her and Ningguang?

"Lady Keqing, you're overthinking it. Pokémon, like Vision holders, require time and rigorous training to turn their potential into strength. Pseudo-Legendaries are only called Pseudo-Legendaries when they reach their final evolution. Before that, their strength is nothing extraordinary."

"Besides, even if it evolves into its final form, as long as your Luxray is trained to a higher level than Tyranitar, it can still be stronger. It's like how monsters are naturally stronger than humans, but some humans, after years of training, can easily defeat multiple monsters. Species only represents a higher starting point, not the final destination."

After Li Pan's explanation, both Keqing and Ningguang fell silent.

Especially Ningguang, who had risen from poverty to become the Tianquan through sheer effort. She understood these words deeply.

With this in mind, her excitement over obtaining a Pseudo-Legendary calmed down a bit.

Seeing that both Ningguang and Keqing had quieted down, Li Pan subtly let out a sigh of relief.

Thankfully, he had managed to smooth things over.

Otherwise, what would he do if these two women started fighting in his shop?

"Boss Li, I've decided. I'll take Larvitar. How much Mora?"

Ningguang smiled, her tone making it clear that Mora was no object.

Who was she? The richest woman in Teyvat!

Li Pan smiled lightly and held up a finger.

"One hundred million Mora!"

Hearing this, Ningguang didn't bat an eye and nodded calmly. "Alright, one hundred million Mora will be delivered this afternoon. Do you need me to wait here?"

Ningguang didn't dare let Larvitar out of her sight for even a second. This was a future Archon—a fully loyal Archon for Liyue! What if it got lost?

"No need. In Liyue, if there's anyone I trust, it's you, Lady Ningguang. Here's your Pokédex and Poké Ball. Please take good care of them. Also, these boxes of premium Rock and Ground-type Pokéblocks are my gift to you."

Taking the Pokédex, Ningguang eagerly scanned Larvitar. She had already familiarized herself with how these things worked.

Beep!

[Larvitar]

Type: Ground, Rock

Level: 5

Ability: Guts (When affected by a status condition, its Attack increases.)

The Rock Skin Pokémon. A Pokémon that consumes soil. After eating a mountain flat, it falls asleep to grow.

Moves: Tackle, Leer, Rock Throw.

"Oh? Boss Li, does Larvitar still need to eat soil even with Pokéblocks?"

Reading the description on the Pokédex, Ningguang frowned. Eating an entire mountain flat seemed like an alarming appetite.

"Larvitar is, after all, the juvenile form of a Pseudo-Legendary. Even at this stage, it exhibits extraordinary traits, such as its terrifying ability to absorb energy. Larvitar eats soil to extract the special energy within it, and this energy cannot be replaced by Pokéblocks."

Hearing this, Ningguang let out a long sigh of relief. She understood now.

"If it's about absorbing energy, could we try using special materials?"

At this moment, Xiangling, who had finished picking Jueyun Chilis with Guoba, walked over with a basket.

"Boss Li, your Pokémon are so fascinating! Are there any Pokémon with abilities similar to Landorus?"

She had overheard some of the conversation between Ningguang and Li Pan and now understood what this shop was about.

After Ningguang's purchase, she couldn't wait to ask if there were any Pokémon with abilities like Landorus.

The ability to instantly grow crops was something she desperately wanted.

If she had that ability, she wouldn't need to buy ingredients anymore.

She could just plant what she wanted, and it would grow in no time—fresh and ready to use.

Hearing Xiangling's question, both Ningguang, who had been about to strike up a conversation with Li Pan, and Keqing, who was still staring at Larvitar with a competitive look, immediately fell silent and pricked up their ears to hear Li Pan's response.

One of them had experienced hunger in her childhood, and the other often went into the field to experience life firsthand. They both understood how enticing the idea of having enough food was for the ordinary people of Liyue.

Li Pan stroked his chin, thinking for a moment.

"If you're talking about instantly growing crops like Landorus, then no. Only Landorus can do that. It's a divine authority."

Hearing this, the three of them understood the implication.

If it couldn't instantly grow crops, then it must have some effect, right?

"Boss Li, what can ordinary Pokémon do in that regard?"

At this moment, Xiangling's light yellow eyes were shining with excitement.

"If it's just about ensuring a good harvest, many Pokémon can do that. But if you want something more advanced, the types of Pokémon that can help are limited."

Li Pan wasn't lying. If Sunny Day and Rain Dance were used alternately, they could indeed ensure a good harvest. Unlike in battles, where you needed a Pokémon with a weather-related ability to control the weather, you could manually create weather effects by teaching Pokémon these moves. Many Pokémon could learn these moves, including Keqing's Shinx, which could learn Rain Dance.

"I see. Then I'll start drawing a Pokémon."

Taking the Pokédex, Xiangling's small face was now filled with solemnity.

"Guoba, Guoba…"

Behind Xiangling, Guoba had somehow gotten hold of a small flag and was waving it, cheering her on.

"I choose to sacrifice Guoba's spicy meat buns for six months—let me get something good!"

Behind her, Guoba's cheering movements froze. It looked at Xiangling with disbelief.

Xiangling, you've changed. You don't love me anymore. After all I've done for you, you're stabbing me in the back!

It hurts. It hurts so much!
