Genshin Impact: The Almighty Genius

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Prologue

"Hey! Wake up! Lumine, what are we supposed to do with this guy? He's been out cold even though we've been shouting," came a cute, slightly high-pitched voice from a young girl, rousing the unconscious youth.

"Hmm... try again—he'll wake up, I promise!" replied another girl, a bit older yet still youthful.

Before long, both girls continued to call out to the unresponsive young man, and eventually he stirred—though clearly irritated.

"Ugh, damn it... Can you all just stop? I'm already awake, you know!" snapped the young man as he stretched and flung open his eyes. His face was plain—neither handsome nor unattractive—with typical Asian features, and his long, curly black hair cascaded like a lion's mane.

"???" The two girls exchanged confused glances, completely at a loss for what the young man had just said.

"Do you know what language he's speaking, Paimon?" asked one of the beautiful blonde girls, while glancing at the floating, UFO creature? —a cute little figure with white hair and a crown that hovered above her head—in front of her.

"Nope! I don't understand a word he's saying!" replied Paimon, tugging at her hair in bewilderment. It was the first time she had ever encountered a foreign language during her entire life in Teyvat.

Suddenly, Paimon's eyes lit up as if she had just realized something.

"Lumine! Could it be that he's an outsider too—someone who arrived in this world just like you and your sibling? Look at him! His language and appearance are so unlike those of the Teyvat people, and his mysterious aura mirrors yours!"

Lumine was momentarily stunned by those words, though on further reflection, it might very well be true.

She nodded. "It probably is, but let's observe how he behaves first."

Back to the young man—now fully awake—he froze in place, his eyes wide with disbelief at what he was witnessing.

"What is this?! Why am I here?! Is this a dream?!" he exclaimed.

Internally, he panicked at the bizarre situation unfolding around him. His gaze roamed his surroundings until he finally spotted the two individuals who had roused him.

Fuck! Lumine and Paimon in real life! Am I really dreaming right now? Maybe it's a lucid dream!

he thought excitedly. After all, as a healthy teenager in the throes of puberty, it wasn't unusual for him to feel intense desires for his favorite 2D character—and perhaps even act on them.

Yet, for some inexplicable reason, he swiftly calmed himself, regaining his rationality and deducing the true nature of his predicament in less than a second—a realization that left him completely taken aback.

This is strange—was I always this sharp?

Even though he was curious about what lay behind it all, the young man put that aside for now and refocused his attention on the duo before him.

Then...

"*$&$=$%@%#=$=$=$=#%"

"..."

I forgot this is a different world! There's no way I can understand what Lumine is saying right now.

The obvious fact that he had forgotten made him want to facepalm himself, but who could blame him? After all, in the novels and fanfics he frequently read, a World Traveler—or someone transported to another world—naturally possesses the ability to understand the language of their new world.

Maybe what those stories described was all a lie, or perhaps I'm just like this?

He wondered to himself, curious if he was the only one experiencing this.

Shaking his head, he pondered for a moment on how to communicate with Lumine. And then, as if by magic, the solution came to him.

Damn! I really am a genius—my parents weren't wrong about me!

The young man grinned proudly, leaving the duo watching him utterly baffled by his sudden smile.

"Do you have any idea what he's thinking about now, Paimon?" one of them asked.

"No idea!" replied Paimon, waving her hand and shaking her head.

Noticing the strange looks they were giving him, the young man blushed slightly, cleared his throat, and then stood up to put his solution into action.

And that solution was... sign language!

Ren Kamijou—the young man—immediately formed his hand into a symbol. Even though he had never formally learned sign language, he miraculously knew how to use it and was completely confident that everyone around him would understand his message.

And indeed, though both of them were taken aback by his unusual gestures, they somehow grasped every word he conveyed.

"Wow! This is amazing! Just hand movements, yet I can understand everything he's saying! Lumine, do you have any idea what this young man is doing now?" Paimon asked, her voice tinged with curiosity.

"That's sign language—the method often used by those who cannot speak," Lumine replied, watching Ren with both curiosity and admiration.

Lumine believed that it was rare for ordinary people to master sign language. Ren's skill was extraordinary—even Lumine, who didn't know sign language herself, could understand what Ren was conveying.

"Umm... He's confused, suddenly woke up here without any explanation, and now he wants to join us? How are we going to let him tag along, Lumine?" Paimon added, interpreting Ren's gestures.

Kind-hearted Lumine nodded, and that made Ren breathe a sigh of relief. After all, this Genshin world was incredibly dangerous for someone like him—a normal otaku youth who rarely exercised.

With wild boars and Hillchurls lurking everywhere, it was hardly surprising that Ren wanted to stick with someone who could protect him.

"Umm... In that case, you can come with us now! Ah! Wait, I almost forgot—he doesn't understand what we're saying. Ugh... How do I put this?" Paimon tilted her head in confusion as she tried to express her thoughts.

Without missing a beat, Paimon began making bizarre, meaningless hand symbols. Lumine, witnessing her ridiculous antics, could only slap her on the face in exasperation.

Fortunately, Ren immediately halted her, for he understood what Paimon was trying to say through her facial expressions and tone.

This realization once again took him aback—he was stunned for a moment before snapping back to reality as the pair a few steps away stopped and stared, clearly wondering what was going on with him.

He quickly bowed in apology before hurrying over to join them.

As Lumine and Paimon resumed their conversation, Ren fell into deep thought, analyzing what was wrong with him at that very moment.

I'm certain that with my usual intelligence, I shouldn't normally be able to pull off things like using sign language and simultaneously reading someone's expressions and tone,

He wondered if his intellect had somehow changed ever since he was transported to the world of Genshin Impact.

Maybe this is my Golden Finger—or my own cheat? If that's true, it would be amazing!

He grinned happily. After all, who wouldn't love having their intelligence and talents elevated to genius level? Yes, genius—not just a little bit, but truly genius-level!

He realized his own prowess by recalling his perfect memory and lightning-fast thinking.

I feel like I can do anything now! As if I were an almighty genius!

he thought excitedly. This revelation helped him relax a bit in the strange yet oddly familiar world of Genshin—a world that was undoubtedly perilous, especially with deities around who could obliterate entire islands with a single strike (refer to Raiden Shogun/Ei).

So, he decided to test just how remarkable his intelligence was by trying to learn the language of Teyvat—listening intently to the conversation between Paimon and Lumine.

5 minutes later.

"Hello, my name is Ren Kamijou! Nice to meet you!"

"Wow! He suddenly can speak our language!" Both Paimon and Lumine were stunned by Ren's sudden ability to converse.

15 minutes later.

"Oh, so that's what happened—you were just about to go home after shopping, and then suddenly you woke up here in Teyvat! Ugh... I've never heard of anyone experiencing that before! It's incredibly strange!"

"I agree—that was really weird. By the way, Ren, I'm impressed at how fluent you've become," Lumine remarked, her eyes shining with admiration.

"Well, sure—some words might be a bit mispronounced or have slightly off meanings, and the grammar isn't perfect, but I think it's amazing for someone who's only been learning for a few minutes!" Paimon added, echoing Lumine's astonishment.

30 minutes later.

"Damn! You're now completely fluent in our language! Ughh!!!" Paimon exclaimed enviously, repeatedly kicking her foot in frustration.

Lumine said nothing, yet her expression betrayed just how envious she was of Ren. Deep down, she mused that if only she had an intellect as extraordinary as his, perhaps she and her older brother wouldn't have been separated in Teyvat by that unknown God.

Seeing their envious looks, Ren puffed out his chest with pride—it was the first time he felt such joy from being admired. After all, back on Earth he had never experienced anything like this, always feeling like an ordinary person.

The three of them continued on their journey, venturing through the forest while discussing a variety of topics. With his innate talent and quick wit, Ren captivated the two girls, and their bond began to deepen rapidly.

Damn it! If only I had this kind of talent back on Earth, my life would have been a total success!

he thought, gritting his teeth in frustration at the fact that his abilities had only manifested now, rather than earlier.

But he quickly dismissed his regret.

Well, never mind

He mused.

This new life is going to be a success, no doubt about it!

With that thought, his spirits lifted, and a renewed sense of optimism for a bright future filled Ren as they continued along their path.

Thus, the world's predestined fate shifted dramatically with Ren's arrival, as the Fifth Descender emerged as an existence destined to reshape the world.
