Chapter 295: Genshin Impact's Incense Burner Of Liyue [295]
At Liuli Pavilion, a luxurious private room offered a breathtaking view of Yunlai Sea at night.
"Wow, it's hard to believe this is the Liyue I've heard so much about, the land of a thousand ships and countless sails. It's even more bustling than I imagined," Buyu Raimei remarked, glancing at the table brimming with dishes. "But, uh, don't you think we ordered too much?"
"No way. This is just the appetizer. After what we went through in Inazuma, we need to replenish our energy as soon as possible," Gu Sanqiu replied casually, pouring himself a drink. "Stop gawking, you two. You'll have plenty of time to enjoy Liyue's sights later. Who knows, it might even become your second home."
"Second home, huh? Not bad," Raimei said, sniffing the aroma of the wine. "It's been so long since I've had a drink in such a relaxed setting, I can't even remember the last time."
"This city is so vibrant. You can feel its energy, completely different from Inazuma," Kazuha said, admiring the dishes before them. Many of them seemed more like works of art than food. "And the cuisine… some of these dishes have transcended the realm of food and become something akin to art. You rarely see that in Inazuma."
"Not even among the nobility?" Raimei asked.
"I've never actually seen them eat," Kazuha admitted with a shake of his head. "But no, I've never encountered dishes like these in any Inazuman restaurant."
Raimei nodded knowingly. "Makes sense. Most restaurants there aim to fill stomachs, not dazzle diners."
Gu Sanqiu chuckled. "Don't overthink it. Liuli Pavilion isn't exactly cheap. Regular folks usually only come here on special occasions."
"For Inazuma's elite, like the Kamisato family, they have private chefs in their households. Their skills and artistry certainly wouldn't lose to Liuli Pavilion," Kazuha noted.
"Still, the fact that a place like this can thrive in Liyue says a lot about the difference between our nations," Kazuha continued. "Maintaining such high standards while staying profitable—if Inazuma could achieve something like this one day, it would be remarkable."
"Inazuma has a lot of potential for the future," Raimei said as he placed a piece of fish in his mouth. He spoke while chewing, "Hey, Sanqiu, since you've seen the 'script of fate,' have you seen what Inazuma's future will look like?"
"Honestly? I have no idea."
The most disruptive thing Gu Sanqiu had done in Liyue was designing a ceremonial idol for Xiao. It had minimal impact on the original timeline. But in Inazuma, he had taken two key figures from the storyline. By the time the Traveler arrived to rescue Thoma, the situation could very well be worse than originally planned.
With such drastic butterfly effects in play, he had no clue whether Raiden Shogun's pursuit of eternity would ever find truth or whether Yae Miko had any contingency plans.
"One thing's certain—it'll get better. As long as you care, the world will respond to your will."
Gu Sanqiu took a sip of his drink. "If you're really worried about Inazuma, you can always sneak back for a look. You can borrow my boat."
"Go back? That sounds like a death wish," Raimei quipped.
"It's not that bad," Kazuha interjected. "If we're being honest, the only one truly guilty of any crimes here is one person."
"Hey, don't think I didn't catch that subtle jab," Gu Sanqiu said with a grin. "Calling me guilty is a bit harsh, don't you think? I'm just standing up for justice, though your Shogun doesn't seem to appreciate it."
"Ah, the Shogun… Is eternity really so captivating?" Raimei mused, taking another sip.
Kazuha raised his glass to join him. "Maybe it's not so much fascination as a forced self-preservation… and sorrow."
…?
Gu Sanqiu looked at Kazuha in surprise. "Didn't know you had that kind of insight. How come the guy with the Electro Vision doesn't?"
"Hey, what's that supposed to mean?" Raimei protested.
"I mean, your power comes from the Archon herself, yet you seem to perceive less than Kazuha," Gu Sanqiu teased.
Raimei scowled. "How am I supposed to compete with him? Kazuha's Vision is Anemo, the perfect match for a wanderer. You wouldn't believe how many female warriors are after him out in the wild…"
Clang!
Kazuha's blade was suddenly at Raimei's neck, even as his free hand calmly picked up a piece of food.
"Go on! Don't give in to brute force! Spill all the juicy details for everyone to hear!" Sanqiu exclaimed dramatically.
"Easy for you to say when it's not your neck on the line!" Raimei gingerly pushed the blade away. "Alright, alright, I was joking. There aren't any female warriors after you. It's more like you've got admirers of all kinds—men and women."
Kazuha's gaze turned ice-cold.
"Raimei, it's been a while since our last sparring match, hasn't it?"
"No, no, no! Let's just eat, alright? I didn't mean anything by it. And Sanqiu's not the type to spread this stuff around. Right?" Raimei quickly poured more wine into Kazuha's glass, smiling nervously.
Some mortals truly dared to face the brilliance of Emperor Leaf.
Gu Sanqiu found the situation amusing. He hadn't known Kazuha was so popular, but it certainly added to the fun.
"Alright, let's get back on track. Sanqiu, do you have any job recommendations for us? We can't just freeload off you in Liyue forever," Raimei said with a grin. "Though, to be fair, you probably have enough wealth to support us for several lifetimes, we still need an opportunity to save up some 'personal funds,' right?"
"Well, aside from adventurer commissions, is there any type of work you're particularly interested in?" Gu Sanqiu asked. "I doubt either of you have much experience with regular jobs. Are you sure you can handle it?"
"That's not an issue," Kazuha said confidently. "Honestly, with our skills, even if we're learning on the job, we'd pick things up quickly—probably better than most people."
"In that case, I have a proposal. Want to hear it?"
Gu Sanqiu leaned back. "I have a gig that needs capable people like you. I haven't found anyone else suitable, so you're my best bet for now."
"What kind of gig?" Raimei asked.
"I co-founded an organization called the Ten Pull Guild with a friend. It's a gray-area group currently affiliated with one of my old buddy's family businesses. Eventually, though, it'll become independent," Gu Sanqiu explained. "Most of the people I know are busy with their own affairs. For now, you two are the only ones who meet the requirements."
Kazuha frowned. "A gray-area group? What does it do?"
"Relax, it's not what you're thinking. The guild's predecessor was an organization that tried to come after me. I dismantled it and turned it into a semi-official entity to handle certain matters in the shadows."
Raimei nodded thoughtfully. "Using that approach to bring some order to the darker side of things… not a bad idea. Though I imagine it's hard to replicate."
