Chapter 552: Threat To The Cult [2]

Noah watched as the piece of cloth on Wei Rui's face fluttered, revealing the fierce look on her beautiful face. Deep in her eyes was a sense of loyalty, obsession, and a fanatical look, which made him sigh, recalling just what kind of people those cultists were.

"It's another array; she used her life force as a medium to enhance the power of self-destruction," Noah calmly replied to Xin Yan, even though he could feel a power ten times more powerful than the previous dragon breath emanating from her body.

"She's not just trying to kill us," Noah murmured, his voice low and filled with a trace of surprise in his voice. "She's planning to take the entire area with her. This is a sacrificial array, designed to obliterate everything within its range."

Xin Yan was rendered speechless at the lengths the woman was willing to go to ensure they were dealt with.

'Can I handle this attack as I am now?' Shaking her head, Xin Yan wondered, feeling the force locking them in place. The only option they had was to confront the incoming attack head-on. She glanced at Noah and bit her lip. If she used her dragon transformation, there was a chance she could take the attack head-on, but she would be heavily injured. She couldn't help but worry about Noah. 'I will take the attack myself, even if it means I will have to be injured. So what if I have to heal for a while?'

"Ouchh!" While Xin Yan was silently making up her mind to sacrifice her safety, she felt a sharp pain on her forehead. Raising her head, she saw Noah looking at her with his dragon eyes that sent shivers down her spine—and not in a bad way.

"What kind of idiotic thoughts are brewing in your mind?" he asked with a snort. "Did you forget I also know how to use some arrays?"

Xin Yan blinked, momentarily taken aback by Noah's sudden reproach. The sharpness in his gaze and the confident smirk on his lips contrasted starkly with the dire situation they were in. Her heart fluttered, the worry that had been building up in her chest momentarily dissipating.

She recalled Noah was not the most confident in his fighting abilities but in his seals and array knowledge.

As Noah spoke, he began to channel his energy, drawing upon the vast knowledge of ancient arrays he had painstakingly learned over time from Elysia's knowledge package. He could have used his seals as well, but he wanted to try the arrays.

His fingers moved swiftly, tracing intricate symbols in the air that shimmered with a faint golden light. Each stroke was precise, deliberate, and infused with his formidable power.

Xin Yan watched in awe as the array began to form, a complex network of interwoven lines and symbols that pulsed with energy. She could feel the air around them shift, the oppressive force that had been locking them in place gradually weakening.

Wei Rui's eyes narrowed as she sensed the change, the last remnants of her life force fueling the array she had activated. "You… you think you can stop me?" she hissed, her voice barely more than a rasp.

The energy within her body pulsed violently, her life force rapidly draining away as the array she had activated began to take shape. The ground beneath her started to crack, and the ship groaned under the immense pressure of the power being unleashed.

The cracks started to form all over the powerful artifact, and as it began to sink, Wei Rui ignored the ship and started flying toward Noah and Xin Yan with the remaining of her willpower.

Noah ignored the woman and decided to use his powerful soul to deal with the unrestrained energy.

Cracks started to form on Wei Rui's body as she began to glow with a red light, her energy threatening to burst out of her body. Her expression was one of twisted determination and pain as she roared in the air, watching Noah doing something to stop her power.

BOOM!

A terrifying soul power erupted from Noah, enveloping Wei Rui from all directions, stopping her in mid-air, causing her eyes to shake in horror.

'Who attacked me?" Wei Rui's eyes were already blurring from the blood that had gotten into her eyes, so she failed to see whose soul power attacked her. 'Did that woman have such vast soul power?'

"No! This can't be!" she muttered in disbelief, feeling the unsettled energy inside her body dispersing into the air. The array she had lain in her heart had already been broken apart as if it were some kind of toy. 'Just why does she have more soul power than General Aman himself?'

The force of the explosion that had been building up dissipated harmlessly into the air, leaving nothing but a faint echo of the power that had once threatened to consume them. She was like a leaking balloon as her energy dispersed into the air.

Bang!

Falling from the air, Wei Rui's body slumped to the ground, her life extinguished along with the energy of her array. The cloth mask on her face fluttered one last time before settling, lifeless, on her still form.

The silence that followed was deafening, the tension in the air replaced by an overwhelming sense of relief. Noah let out a slow breath, his shoulders relaxing as the glow around his hands faded. The protective barrier he had created dissolved into the air, leaving them standing in the aftermath of the battle.

His move was not without consequences. The mask on his face shifted as Noah wiped the blood from his lips and ears. Xin Yan, seeing his state, felt her heart being torn and hurriedly rushed to his side.

Her lips quivered as she started feeling cold seeing Noah's weakened state. "Why… why did you force your soul power through your body, even though you know it will burden you?"

Noah felt his heart being squeezed, hearing her voice filled with pain. Taking her hands in his own, he looked deep into her eyes, "I am fine. The dragon body kept me safe from any life-threatening injuries. Just some of my internal organs suffered a little; this much is fine."
