Chapter 566: Missing Target!

"When… when we do it… we will do it for a year!" Even though Xin Yan's voice stammered at first, her eyes and words showed her resolve at the end. Noah almost could not believe that Xin Yan would say that out of all the things.

He took a deep breath to digest the words that entered his ears, but his dragon nose caught something in the air that he failed to find before as he was holding his breath to calm himself.

'It's the scent of the sea, but…' Noah's eyes widened as he took another breath, deeper than the one he took before. 'This is the same scent that I have been breathing for a month.'

His actions first came off as confusing to Xin Yan, but when she thought of what she did in the morning, her eyes went wide, and her pale jade skin transformed into blood jade skin.

When she saw him lowering his head and looking right in her eyes, Xin Yan moved like a scared kitten and hid her face back into his arms.

'Is he disgusted by me?' Xin Yan thought and tried to sneak in some glances at Noah with her soul sense.

But much to her shock, there was a warm smile on Noah's face. Amidst the warmth, there was something else that caught her off guard.

The deep-hearted gaze directed at her—it was like he would swallow her whole. Xin Yan could not believe that this was the same Noah she saw a second ago.

As if to shatter the thought that it was an illusion, Xin Yan felt something hot and hard pressing against her stomach. Her eyes widened in realization, her body trembled, but she did not move back. Instead, her body involuntarily moved even closer to Noah, making it twitch a little.

Xin Yan naturally did not dislike such a look when the person who was looking at her was none other than the person she loved with all her being.

Noah could feel heat building up in his body, but he forced himself to calm down once more.

"One year…" Noah's voice remained steady, but it came off huskier than he intended it to be. Xin Yan, who heard the soul-shaking voice, could not help but tighten her hold on him.

Even her legs moved closer to Noah's, who cursed in his heart, 'Don't test my patience, you idiot!'

Xin Yan, who registered the words he spoke in her mind, felt her heart skip a beat and raised her head to look the man in the eyes.

Seeing her looking back into his eyes, Noah smiled a bit wildly yet warmly and spoke again. "When the time comes, I will seal us both inside the Pagoda for a year."

Noah leaned closer to Xin Yan's ears before whispering in his still husky voice, "Even if you want to come out, I will not let you out, no matter how much you beg!"

Xin Yan felt strength leaving her body as a damp patch appeared on her robes, but the dreamy look in her eyes and the silly smile on her face showed that she did not care about her appearance in the least at that moment.

Noah's smile turned into a smirk before he leaned in to kiss the still dazed woman. After having a deep taste of her mouth and planting his own taste in her mouth, Noah broke the kiss.

Noah smiled as he watched her giggle to herself after the kiss and hug him like a kid hugging a pillow, her legs and arms all around him.

The two of them did not say anything more and drifted into deep sleep without a care in the world.

"Hmph!" At the same time, a green-haired woman standing outside the mansion saw their interaction from far away and snorted in annoyance before vanishing.

While Noah and Xin Yan were having the most pleasant sleep of their lives, some people were starting to get restless.

"What do you mean you still haven't found any traces of the sect?" Two figures could be seen kneeling on the ground in the middle of a forest where not a single living soul could be seen for miles, only corpses of dead beasts tens of meters tall. Despite their strength, these two figures shivered in fright as they felt the area turn cold simply from the gaze of the illusionary figure standing before their eyes.

The simple bearing of the man made them unable to even dare look up. Even though he was wearing a mask, they could feel his cold, piercing gaze on their bodies.

How could they dare, when the person before them was none other than General Amon?

Even though he was in an illusionary formation, his presence and name were enough to instill fear in the eyes of those who knew him.

"What have you been doing these days?" Despite the coldness in his voice, the owner of the voice remained calm as he waited for them to speak clearly.

The kneeling figures trembled violently but still managed to squeeze words out of themselves. "We have been following the trail as you suggested, respected general, and we ended up in the far east direction of the Feng Empire's capital."

"But by the time we reached here, the trace suddenly vanished three days ago," the second person continued, his voice devoid of any emotion or warmth. "We thought it was simply a glitch at first, or they were traveling, but it seemed like they disappeared out of the blue."

Hearing the report, General Amon narrowed his dark, crazed eyes behind the mask, making the two men even more tense.

"Could it be their sect is located in a separate space like the hidden families?" the man wondered out loud. "But that would make them even more dangerous than we initially assumed."

"General!" Just as the man was deep in thought, he heard the sharp yet excited voice of one of the men before him, which made him look down.

"It seems that the boy who was planted with the imprint reappeare–" Before the man could finish, his body twisted in several directions impossible for a human to move in, killing him instantly.

Amon looked at the dead corpse, now resembling a mess created by an angry child, without moving.

His face shifted to the remaining man, who spoke in an indifferent tone, "Continue."

The man picked up a jade-like pendant that showed a red dot on its pale surface and replied without any change in tone, "It seems the target has reappeared."

"Go and get me the location of the sect and the details of their strength, even at the cost of your death. If you return alive successfully, I will reward you." The man who heard the pleased tone of the general showed no emotion until he vanished.

He slumped to the ground, his back drenched in sweat as he gasped for breath. 'What reward? If you don't kill me upon returning, I would be very happy,' the man thought. But his gaze fell on his 'companion,' and he couldn't help but add, "If the cult members don't stop killing their subordinates over small things, they might die out before even completing the divine task. No wonder he is the weakest general."

With a lazy voice, he disposed of the corpse before vanishing without a trace from his spot.
