Girls und panzer: Carolus rex the emperor of steel

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: The born of carolus rex

The days at Kuromorimine passed in the blink of an eye. From the first year, they put us on tanks and taught us how to pilot them and their complete operation. However, it seems Shiho gave instructions to train me as a commander, as they often separated me from the group to place me in a different tank and taught me more things than the rest.

Of course, I absorbed absolutely everything like a sponge, so better for me. Although... somehow I feel like Shiho is investing too much in me. It seems excessive if it's just because I have talent.

Over time, I noticed that Freya trained hard to lose weight and followed diets to improve her health. Her round cheeks became more defined, and the dull look in her blue eyes had begun to fill with a quiet determination.

In elementary school, they taught me the basics like basic mathematics, sure, but after talking to the teachers, I managed to skip some subjects like arithmetic, world history (fortunately, history here is almost identical to that of my previous world), English, and Spanish. I didn't skip French because I didn't know that language.

How did the teachers listen to a kid who wanted to skip subjects?

The Lindsworm surname holds prestige even in Germany.I have the recommendation of the academy's owner.I always got very high marks on exams.

Due to skipping subjects but not grades, I took my time to join extracurricular activities, whether mixed martial arts or studying other languages like Japanese at a more fluent level (mostly writing) and other Nordic languages (Norwegian, Danish, Icelandic, etc.).

The years passed like that in Kuromorimine, and I also gained more followers within the school. Like Freya, they were bullied by their classmates, and now it seems I have a harem like in the novels I used to read.

Freya: Erik, what kind of girls do you like?

Hmm, even if you ask me that, I wouldn't know what to say. In my previous life, I focused so much on studies that I reached a critical point, and in the end, I became a NEET and died without even having the idea of getting a girlfriend.

It's kinda sad.

Erik: Strong women.

Freya: Eh?

Well, I just said whatever came to mind. I couldn't think of anything in the end.

But I notice that Freya and some other girls have a determined look in their eyes... I wonder why?

We reached middle school, the time when, according to what I remember, Maho should already be the commander of Kuromorimine and Miho the vice-commander, following the canon.

It's a bit sad that Miho was scolded so harshly for trying to save one of her teammates, but in part, Shiho is right — if you can't save yourself, you can't save others.

It would be like... if you don't know how to swim, don't try to save someone drowning, because both of you would die.

In the end, through my mother, I found out that Miho transferred to Ooarai.

So the canon followed its course.

A few weeks later, I decided to do the same — transfer out. But since there were no schools that accepted boys in Sensha-dō, I went to ask my mother to open a school where mixed teams could exist.

Mónica: Of course, just wait until I finish all the preparations.

According to her dialogue, she already seemed to have something like that planned.

Mónica: But recruit the people who will join Sensha-dō yourself while I handle the rest.

...BUT OF COURSE!!!

Erik: Thank you, Mother.

I hugged her tightly in gratitude, and she returned the embrace.

Since I arrived at Kuromorimine, I noticed how some girls who didn't fit into the academy's rigid discipline were marginalized, bullied, or simply ignored by their classmates.

Maybe if I were just another kid, I would have overlooked those details. But my mindset from my previous world, combined with my mother's influence and the weight of the Lindsworm name, made me see things from a different perspective.

I couldn't help but feel some empathy for them... after all, in my previous life, I had also been someone who stayed in the shadows of others. The difference was that now I had the power and knowledge to change their fate... if they were willing to accept it.

So I decided to approach each of them to extend my hand, giving them the speech that they could become strong under my command. That's how I turned them into my followers. But when my mother mentioned the recruitment, I decided to call each of them and gather them in one place.

At night, under the moonlight, I met with them and confronted them.

Erik: I know how you feel...

At first, I let my words sink in. All of them looked at me with a mix of curiosity and distrust. I don't blame them... after all, who would trust someone who has lived his whole life among Kuromorimine's elite?

I took a step forward, scanning their faces. Some averted their eyes, others frowned skeptically... but none of them stepped away.

Erik: I know what it's like to be looked down upon... to be seen as someone who will never amount to anything. I know what it's like to feel the pressure of expectations, of the world telling you who you can be... and who you can't.

As I spoke, I noticed how some of them clenched their fists or lowered their gaze. I struck a nerve... exactly what I wanted.

Erik: But I also know something else... I know that each one of you has the strength to defy that fate. Maybe you don't see it now, maybe no one else sees it... but I do.

I walked among them, my voice low but firm.

Erik: Here, under my command... no one will be looked down upon.

I paused, giving more weight to my words.

Erik: Here... you won't be judged for what you are now... but for what you can become. I don't want perfect soldiers... I want warriors.

I saw all of them stiffen and fall into deep thought, so I continued.

Erik: You can keep living as you have until now... settling for being shadows in this academy... or you can take my hand and show the world — and yourselves — that there's nothing stronger than someone who decided to become strong by their own will.

I stopped in the center of the room, standing straight with my chin held high.

Erik: Under my command... you will all become strong.

I extended my hand toward them with a confident smile.

Erik: You only have to decide... will you keep being forgotten, or will you write your own destiny alongside me?

Then each of them, with their spirits high, let out a loud and guttural cry as a sign of great joy, and the echo of their voices resonated in the night, showing how excited they were.

Erik: My mother will open a new academy, where you can directly join Sensha-dō and prove to Kuromorimine and the rest of the academies that we are and will be the strongest!! Who's coming with me?!

And once again, they gave a strong shout in agreement.

Erik: Then let's go!!

Months passed, and the academy was finally ready.

It seems my mother already had an established academy, so the paperwork wasn't as much as it would have been if she built one from scratch. The months were for building it on top of an aircraft carrier that my family already owned...

Wait, did she already expect me to ask for that and only needed to build the academy on top of the ship?

Mónica: The Swedish tanks have already been acquired and are ready for the school. There are Strv m/38, Lago I, Sav m/43, and as the flagship, you will have access to an Strv 103 A.

Some might say those tanks can't compare to the T-34, Panther, or any others from different nations. And yeah, head-on they're scrap metal... but if you know how to use them, they're not bad.

Maybe it also has to do with the fact that they're not well-known or liked by tank fans, but I mainly played Sweden's tech tree in War Thunder anyway.

But I should find a way to get the rest of the Swedish tanks... maybe the T-34-85 from Pravda, BT-42 from Jatkosota, or some Panzer IV from Kuromorimine... or I could let myself go and get more of them. But for now, I'll stick to purely Swedish ones.

Though I must say the Strv 103 is already overkill...

Mónica: For now, you'll need to carry out training, as I've scheduled some friendly matches against nearby schools to give you real combat experience.

Nearby schools... would she mean Jatkosota, Pravda, or St. Gloriana?

Erik: Thank you, really... thank you so much.

Now that I can even ride a tank thanks to my mother, I can proudly say...

My mother is the best.

Now, I must start preparing my team to fight in these friendly matches with those academies.

I can do it!!!
