Chapter 22: Chapter 22: The Divine Skill of Destroying Corpses and Eradicating Traces
A loud explosion echoed in the forest, followed by the detonation of the knight's body. The trio of fallen enemies left no trace behind—completely obliterated.
It was clear that the skill of corpse bursting was an extraordinary tool for eliminating both the bodies and any traces of their existence.
Marsh walked towards the West Sea Mine, as he had planned the day before. This was the goblin's lair, a place where danger and rewards both awaited.
As they drew closer to the West Sea Mine, the goblins' strength seemed to increase with each step. First, Level 12 Goblin Warriors appeared, followed by Level 13 Goblin Archers. However, these enemies posed no real threat to Marsh's army of skeleton warriors, each of whom possessed formidable attributes.
After a night of meditation, Marsh summoned four more skeleton warriors. Now, the number of skeleton warriors at his disposal had reached 48. Thanks to his skill level in summoning, the once black iron-level warriors had ascended to bronze-level skeletons.
However, the cost to summon these warriors had grown. Marsh now needed 70 mental strength to summon each skeleton. With a total of 300 mental strength, he could summon four at a time. Still, he was satisfied with his progress. He knew that one day, his summoning capacity would be full, but he wasn't in a hurry.
Approaching the entrance to the dungeon, Marsh noticed the growing number of adventurers gathering at the site. The goblins outside the mine had been mostly cleared, leaving only those entering the dungeon. The atmosphere was charged with excitement and tension.
Soon, Marsh stood before the entrance to the instance. A large vortex swirled in front of him, the source of a bloodthirsty aura that sent a chill down his spine. Only the bravest would dare to approach it. While the entrance to the novice dungeon was only half a meter in diameter, this one was much larger—at least one meter in diameter.
"Normal difficulty. Three missing one, come to a nanny."
"Normal difficulty. There are mages and healers, and a knight."
"Mine dungeon elite team, nightmare difficulty. There are knights, mages, assassins, but no nurses or control support."
"Nightmare difficulty must pass the team, lack of knights, lack of nurses, five shortages and four."
The various team announcements filled the air as adventurers sought companions to tackle the dungeon. Some were discussing tactics, while others seemed to be making last-minute preparations.
Marsh moved toward the entrance with his skeleton warriors at his side. He had put away the others, relying on just a few for now. His passive skills remained active even when his skeleton warriors were stored in the summoning space, so he had no concerns about his safety.
As Marsh approached, the bone grinding sounds of the skeleton warriors' footsteps caught the attention of nearby adventurers. The eerie clacking of bones echoed through the air, causing many to take a step back in fear.
The flickering flames in the skulls of the warriors only added to the terror. The air around them grew colder as they passed by, and the eerie sight of the skeletons sent a wave of panic through the crowd. People quickly made way for Marsh, unwilling to get too close to such an unsettling presence.
At the entrance to the dungeon, Marsh paused to inspect the information about the instance. Unlike the novice dungeons, this was not a place for low-level adventurers to level up. The dungeon offered only two difficulty modes: normal and nightmare. There was no hell difficulty, making it a challenging but not impossible task.
Monsters in the normal difficulty level were elite-level creatures, much stronger than the goblins encountered outside. The nightmare difficulty offered even more powerful elite monsters, making it the ultimate test.
To enter the normal difficulty, a three-person team was typically required: a tank, a DPS, and a healer. The nightmare difficulty, however, required a five-person team with dual support and dual output.
Marsh watched as adventurers gathered, some trying to form teams while others discussed strategies. Eventually, one brave soul approached him, sensing the power Marsh might possess.
"Young man, are you a summoner?" the adventurer asked.
Marsh didn't respond, choosing to ignore the question. The adventurer, undeterred, cast a detection spell on him and his skeleton warriors. A red light flared from the empty eye sockets of the skeletons as they turned their attention toward the spellcaster, sending a shock of fear through him.
The detection spell failed, and the adventurer retreated hastily, his face pale.
Marsh wore the shield badge given to him by Ning Yiyi, making it impossible for anyone below his level to detect his information.
Unfazed, Marsh continued to examine the dungeon. Meanwhile, more adventurers tried to engage him.
"Young man, would you like to join our team? We're short on output," one called out.
"You must be a summoner. Summoners can deal a lot of damage. Do you want to join us?" another asked.
"We're an elite team, going in on nightmare difficulty. If we get good gear, we'll split it equally," a third added.
Despite their invitations, Marsh remained silent and focused on the dungeon.
After checking the dungeon details once more, he finally made his decision. He chose the nightmare difficulty, which was sure to provide the toughest challenge.
[Please confirm whether to select Nightmare Difficulty.]
"Confirm!"
With a flash, Marsh was transported into the dungeon.
"He entered the copy."
"He's going in alone."
"No, he's trying to solo it. How arrogant."
"You can't say that. What if he's strong enough to do it? People have soloed dungeons before."
The adventurers outside speculated, watching the swirling vortex as Marsh entered. Some were doubtful, while others expressed curiosity.
One person who had used the detection spell earlier was still embarrassed. "I couldn't get any information on him. I think he's wearing a shielding badge."
"Well, let's just watch and see if he makes it out alive."
"Maybe he's all show and no substance. He looks scary, but he might be weak."
While the adventurers talked among themselves, Marsh was already inside the dungeon.
The mine dungeon lived up to its name. The air was thick with an oppressive atmosphere, and the scent of blood was heavy in the air. Before Marsh stood a massive iron door. Behind it, a monster more than two meters tall roared, clearly aware of his presence. It was only a matter of time before it would rush forward and attempt to tear him apart if Marsh dared to open the door.
But Marsh was unperturbed. With his skeleton warriors by his side, he knew he was ready for whatever awaited him in the depths of the mine.
