Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Psychic Attacks That Ignore Defense

The Level 2 Skeleton Warrior's attributes had increased by a staggering 100 points compared to Level 1, with its stats jumping from 150 to 250.

Marsh understood that this massive boost was not the norm. His incredible gains were mainly due to his unique god-level talent, which amplified his abilities significantly. Without this talent, a Level 2 skeleton would typically gain only 10 points per attribute upon leveling up, with a total increase of 40 points in overall stats.

Still, Marsh was aware that the synergy between his god-level talent and the Necromancer class made him far more powerful than other classes or professions.

After summoning seven skeleton warriors, Marsh sent them out to hunt monsters across the dungeon. Like a group of relentless hunters, the skeletons charged through the novice dungeon, annihilating everything in their path. It didn't matter whether the creatures were Level 1, Level 2, or even Level 3—they all fell instantly to the skeleton warriors' strikes.

The raw power of his skeleton warriors was astonishing. Even without skills, their attack power rivaled that of a Level 10 fighter. Marsh mused, "Their strength is comparable to a seasoned warrior's. And with seven of them, they're unstoppable."

But seven skeletons were just the beginning. Once his mental power recovered, Marsh planned to summon even more.

Each notification confirmed the skeleton warriors' effectiveness. Marsh followed behind, moving slowly as his skeletons tore through the monsters. Their relentless slaughter painted a mental map of the dungeon in Marsh's mind.

To his surprise, he discovered that the skeletons weren't just killing monsters—they were also charting the terrain. "So, they're fully automatic mappers too? That's a bonus," Marsh muttered, impressed by the additional utility of his summons.

In just one hour, his experience bar was nearly full. Another level-up was imminent. With such rapid progress, Marsh abandoned meditation entirely; there was no need. Upgrading restored his mental power automatically, making recovery effortless.

Amid the chaos, a lone Level 2 Gray Cat evaded the skeleton warriors and crouched in the tall grass. Spotting the lucky creature, Marsh smirked, "Not so fast."

He raised his hand, summoning a blue flame. Soul Flame! The cyan fire streaked toward the Gray Cat, engulfing it instantly. The cat let out a pained cry before collapsing lifelessly to the ground.

The cat's body bore no signs of external burns. Marsh realized that his Soul Flame ability directly attacked the target's soul, bypassing physical defenses.

"This is a psychic attack," he muttered. "It ignores all defense."

The realization sent a chill of excitement through him. Psychic attacks were rare and highly effective, capable of piercing even the strongest armor or magical shields.

Marsh marveled at the synergy of his abilities. "The Necromancer profession is truly remarkable. Even without my talent bonus, this class is on par with legendary professions."

Moments later, a surge of energy enveloped him. He had leveled up again.

All his attributes increased by 10 points, while his summoning space expanded to accommodate 20 summons. His Summon Skeleton Warrior skill also leveled up, further boosting the attributes of his skeletons by 100 points each.

Marsh summoned three additional skeleton warriors, bringing the total to 10. Like an unstoppable wave, they continued to obliterate monsters throughout the dungeon.

[Kill a Level 5 Blue Wolf, Experience +50]

Even Level 5 monsters fell instantly to the skeletons' enhanced power. Marsh's experience bar climbed steadily, and he calculated that he could level up again within two hours.

Compared to his peers, Marsh's progress was extraordinary. Most students would be lucky to reach Level 3 by the end of the first day. David, the instructor, had set a goal for them to reach Level 8 within a week—a challenge for many. Only the top 50 academies required Levels 9 or 10 for admission, but for most, reaching Level 8 was sufficient.

---

Meanwhile, outside the dungeon, the academy principals gathered around a table. They sipped tea and exchanged predictions about the students' progress.

David leaned back, listening to the chatter.

"Do you remember the highest record for the first day?" one principal asked.

"Yes," another replied. "It was Morkel and Lin Mohan. Both reached Level 5."

"That's right," said a third. "Morkel and Lin Mohan were rare classes. This year, Jeny is also a rare class. She should achieve something similar."

The principals agreed that the first day's performance often determined a student's overall progress.

David remained silent but thought to himself, "I wonder how far Marsh will go. A hidden profession like his could exceed all expectations."

---

Inside the dungeon, Marsh observed the efficiency of his skeleton warriors. Their combined strength and speed left little for him to do. Occasionally, he used Soul Flame to dispatch monsters that slipped past the skeletons, but otherwise, he let his summons handle everything.

As his skeletons rampaged through the dungeon, a sudden surge of energy filled the air. A powerful presence loomed nearby, sending a shiver down Marsh's spine.

"What is that?" Marsh muttered, gripping his staff tightly.

He could sense that something formidable was approaching. His skeleton warriors, however, showed no fear. They stood ready, their empty sockets glowing with eerie light.

Marsh prepared himself. Whatever this new challenge was, he would face it head-on. With his summons by his side and his unique abilities at the ready, he was confident he could overcome anything.
