Chapter 145: Chapter 145 Encirclement

Law's tranquil gaze and deep tone, though devoid of overt hostility, carried a resolute thirst for battle that was undeniable.

Faced with the impossible possibility that crossed her mind, Sanbica stumbled several steps back, looking at Law, whose Aura and demeanor had become completely different, with vigilance in her eyes.

'He is not Law.'

Even though Sanbica didn't know what happened, she was certain of that much.

Law looked at Sanbica who was retreating, his eyelids lowering slightly as if in regret. Then, he said faintly: "Regardless... let us fight!"

The moment the words left his lips, the icy aura surrounding him transformed into fearless battle intent.

It didn't matter who the opponent was, the outcome, or how much time remained... anyone is fine, he just wanted to fight.

Crack…

The glass cover on the display stand suddenly began to crack, like several intertwined snakes, as though an invisible force was physically acting upon it.

In the corner, the black dog that had been cowering trembled uncontrollably. Its body flattened submissively to the floor, claws splayed upward, and its long tongue lolled limply on the ground, which is a posture of absolute surrender. At this moment, even if its life were taken, it wouldn't resist.

Sanbica was forced back against the cold wall by the fighting spirit exuded by Law, shivering as a chill washed over her. Fear flickered across her face as she stammered, "Who... are you?"

Law's expression remained cold and silent. With no words exchanged, he took a single step forward. The action sent a ripple through Sanbica's heart.

There was no killing intent, but Sanbica could feel an inexplicable an inexplicable, overwhelming sense of danger.

She didn't understand what had happened to Law, but she knew she couldn't just stand idly by.

Just as the tension peaked, the intense Aura and battle intent radiating from Law dissipated as abruptly as it had appeared, appeared, vanishing like snow under the spring sun. Then, his cold face suddenly shifted into a playful smile.

"Just messing with you."

Under Sanbica's open-mouthed silent gaze, Law put away the sword, as if his previous behavior had been a joke.

"You're insane!" Sanbica reacted immediately and shouted angrily.

She had genuinely been frightened just now, believing that Law had been possessed by some sinister force.

"Haha, look how scared you are." Law teased with a hearty laugh.

Seeing that Law was still laughing at her, Sanbica turned her head away angrily and refused to acknowledge him further.

Seeing Sanbica's reaction, Law slowly turned around, restrained the smile on his face, and his expression became slightly solemn.

The truth was, none of what had just transpired had been a joke. But to keep Sanbica from suspecting anything, he played it off as such.

It's better to treat that unspeakable and incredible thing as an insignificant joke, not to be mentioned again.

Thinking of this, Law took a deep breath. Not only had he accepted the sword's Limitations and Vows, but he had also inherited the obsessions of the nameless swordsman who had wielded it before.

If a person could live forever, their pursuit would never cease, nor would they tire of their goals.

That is the ultimate will that even death and time cannot erode. He is a true battle maniac.

Not for slaughter, nor for victory, but for the sake of treading farther on the endless path.

For a moment, Law thought he might lose himself completely, but fortunately, it was just a false alarm. Even so, the Aura unleashed by that obsession was undeniably powerful.

'It's your handiwork, right?'

Law asked silently in his heart, a question that received no answer.

Maybe white smoke font thought this was good for Law, but when Law encountered such a thing in the future, he would never easily get involved.

Suddenly, Law raised his arm, swinging the blade forward in a clean, decisive motion. A sharp gleam flickered at the blade's tip.

The movement was practiced and fluid, as though he had performed it countless times before.

It was just an ordinary slash, neither embellished nor overextended, just clean and precise. It was not something an amateur could mimic.

As he reflected on the fragmented memories that now lingered within him, Law sheathed the blade and turned to face Sanbica, who was still sulking, and smiled: "Still mad?"

"Insane." Sanbica looked at Law and repeated what she had just said, but this time, her tone was much calmer.

"I was wrong."

Law admitted his mistake honestly. Although it was not his fault, he had no choice but to take the blame.

Only after seeing Law admit his mistake did Sanbica's anger subside by a large margin.

She is just like that. When the person who made a mistake knows how to admit it, she will forgive them. Though, this was a matter of principle, not circumstance.

After admitting his mistake, Law took a look at the antiques in the basement and the giant dog cowering in the corner. He knew they could not stay here for long, so he prepared to leave.

The Elder is dead and he obtained the sword, so the next step was to leave Meteor City. As for the antiques in the basement, he was too lazy to take them with him.

After all, he was not short of money now, and it would be troublesome to carry them with him.

If he has a storage space, Law really wouldn't mind taking a few of the artifacts with him.

"Let's go. We might have to fight our way out later, so stay close to me." Law said.

The explosion caused by the Elder was something Law had not expected, and this explosion would definitely make the Council of Elders take action.

"Okay." Sanbica nodded.

The two ascended the stairs side by side. Meanwhile, the black dog remained in its submissive posture, not daring to move a muscle.

Just as Law had suspected, the explosion, which had leveled the Elder's house, was like a blaring alarm, echoing across all of Meteor City.

When Law and Sanbica were still in the basement, the guards directly under the Council of Elders had already rushed to the scene, guided by the sound of the explosion.

The first group to arrive at the scene was a team of over a hundred people. When they saw the ruins on the ground, they immediately assumed a combat-ready stance.

Most of them were armed with firearms. Some carried submachine guns, others handguns, while a smaller group wielded melee weapons.

"This is Elder Ruul's house!" Someone in the group exclaimed in surprise.

Elder Ruul was the Elder of the East District. His status is self-evident, but the house he lives in has turned into ruins.

"What on earth happened here?"

"A few of you, go ask the people nearby, and the rest of you, help me clear this place." A man who looked like the captain gave the orders. He had noticed residents peering out from their windows nearby, observing the commotion.

Perhaps among the so many residents, someone would know what happened.

After hearing the captain's order, the group was about to go to the houses to interrogate the residents. However, before they could take any action, two people came out from the ruins. They were Law and Sanbica.

Seeing this scene, the one hundred people present all did the same thing and pointed their guns at Law and Sanbica.

Ruul had been known for his shabby attire of tattered cloaks, as were his subordinates, but Law and Sanbica's clothes were obviously not in line with the style.

"Who are you? Where is Elder Ruul?" The captain asked coldly.

Law, with Shin on his shoulders, faced nearly a hundred black gun muzzles aimed at him, but he remained unmoved.

He glanced at the people present. There were about a hundred of them, and almost all of them were carrying guns.

The two sides were locked in a standoff, and the residents in the surrounding houses were leaning against the windows to watch the spectacle.

Meteor City is seldom invaded by foreign enemies. On one hand, Meteor City has less contact with the outside world, and on the other hand, it lacks factors that may invite invaders.

"I'll give you ten seconds." The captain's eyes flashed coldly. If Law couldn't provide an acceptable answer, he would order his men to fire without hesitation.

Whoosh…

One by one, people wearing ragged cloaks walked out from alleys in all directions, sealing off all possible exits and surrounding the ruins of the house. This group of people were loyal subordinates of Elder Ruul, drawn to the scene by the explosion.

There were even more people outside on the street, like a dragnet, trapping Law and Sanbica here.

At this moment, Law and Sanbica were surrounded by more than 400 people, more than half of whom were armed.

But despite such a dangerous situation, the two were still very calm.

"If you're referring to the East District's Elder, he's dead."

The countdown had barely begun when Law delivered the shocking news that left everyone present stunned.

'Elder Ruul is dead...!'

At the next second, without the captain giving any orders, everyone opened fire almost at the same time.

The dense sound of gunfire suddenly rang out throughout the place, and the residents, who were watching the excitement, were so scared that they quickly retreated from their windows. Because of that, they missed the astonishing sight of countless bullets stopping mid-air.

But there was one person who didn't miss it, and that was Illumi.
