Chapter 1: CHAPTER 1
c1: The New Admiral
East Blue – Dawn Island – Foosha Village
"Hey, everyone! A Marine warship is here!"
The villagers of Foosha Village, busy with their daily affairs, immediately turned their attention toward the coast upon hearing the shout.
For the people of this quiet town, the sight of a Marine vessel was nothing new—especially considering that Vice Admiral Garp hailed from here. The Marine name was not just respected; it was synonymous with their pride.
At the top stood Garp, the legendary Marine hero. Below him were the young men who had followed his path into the Marines. Now, another Marine had returned.
Under the curious gazes of the villagers, a tall, broad-shouldered young man in civilian clothes disembarked from the ship. He moved with an air of quiet confidence, his black coat billowing slightly in the sea breeze. His striking features were instantly recognizable to those who had known him as a child.
"Luo Ye!"
A wave of excitement rippled through the crowd.
"It's really you!"
"You finally remembered to come back and visit us!"
"Look at you, all grown up! You were just a brat when you left with Garp!"
Luo Ye chuckled as the villagers gathered around him. He raised a hand in greeting.
"Long time no see, everyone. How have you all been?"
The warm reception left him feeling nostalgic. He glanced around the familiar village, taking in the sight of the windmill that still stood proudly atop the hill.
It had been years since he arrived in this world.
Back then, he had been utterly lost an outsider in a world of devil fruits, Haki, and titanic battleships. He would have perished at sea had it not been for one man: Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp.
Garp had taken him in, raising him alongside three wild brothers Ace, Sabo, and Luffy. Together, they had trained, fought, and dreamed. But ten years ago, Garp had taken Luo Ye to Marineford, and since then, there had never been a proper chance to return.
Now, however, things were different.
Luo Ye was no longer just a Marine officer.
He was the fourth Marine Admiral the youngest in history.
And he had returned to Foosha Village for one reason: to ensure that no pirates threatened the peaceful life of the people here.
His journey to the rank of Admiral had not been easy. Garp had fought tooth and nail for him, bargaining with the Five Elders in a mix of persuasion and outright threats. In the end, even the highest powers in the world government had to concede. Luo Ye's talent was undeniable he was a force that even they could not ignore.
"Luo Ye!"
A familiar voice called out.
He turned just in time to see a young woman sprinting toward him.
Makino.
Her green hair flowed behind her as she ran, her smile bright and filled with warmth.
Luo Ye grinned. "Makino! It's been years. How have you been?"
Before Makino could respond, another voice boomed from the side.
"You damn brat!"
A towering woman stomped toward him, her arms crossed and her expression exaggeratedly angry.
Curly Dadan, the mountain bandit who had raised Ace, Sabo, and Luffy along with Luo Ye glared at him.
"You left all those years ago and never came back to visit! How could you just waltz in now like nothing happened?!"
Luo Ye laughed. "Dadan, you haven't changed one bit."
Despite her grumbling, Dadan's scowl softened. She had always treated him like one of her own.
"Alright, alright, don't crowd the guy," the village mayor finally said. "Let's get back to work. We'll hold a banquet tonight to celebrate!"
"Ohhhh!!" The villagers cheered.
Luo Ye smirked. Some traditions never changed. Back when he was a kid, he was the one who had started the habit of throwing banquets for any reason. It was amusing to see that even now, the custom lived on.
---
A short while later, Luo Ye found himself seated inside Makino's tavern, surrounded by Dadan and the others.
Dadan took a long swig of sake before setting her cup down with a loud thunk.
"Alright, spill it. How's life at Marineford?"
The others leaned in, clearly eager to hear about his journey.
Luo Ye smirked. "It's been… eventful. I was promoted to Admiral a few days ago. I figured it was the perfect time to come back and visit."
The tavern fell silent.
"...Wait."
Dadan's expression froze. Makino's eyes widened. The village mayor blinked in shock.
"Ad-Admiral?!"
Luo Ye nodded.
"You're telling me that in just ten years, you went from a brat following Garp around to a Marine Admiral?!" Dadan's jaw nearly hit the floor.
Even Makino looked stunned.
To put things into perspective, Vice Admiral Garp one of the strongest men in Marine history had never accepted the promotion to Admiral. Yet here was Luo Ye, at only 24 years old, having reached a rank that even legends like Aokiji, Kizaru, and Akainu had taken decades to achieve.
Dadan was the first to recover. She let out a bellowing laugh.
"Hah! No wonder you finally decided to come back! I can't wait to see the look on that old man Garp's face when he realizes you outranked him!"
Luo Ye chuckled. "If Garp had wanted to be Admiral, he could've done it twenty years ago."
Dadan scoffed. "Yeah, yeah, we all know the old man doesn't care about ranks. But still, you managed to do what he never did."
The village mayor finally spoke up. "Luo Ye, what about Ace, Sabo, and Luffy? How are they doing?"
Luo Ye leaned back, his gaze thoughtful.
"Ace and Sabo are both Marine Majors now. Luffy only recently joined the training camp, but he's progressing fast."
The tavern erupted into cheers.
Not only had Luo Ye become an Admiral, but even Ace, Sabo, and Luffy had chosen the Marine path.
It was almost unthinkable.
Those three had once been dead set on becoming pirates. But years of training, discipline, and occasional beatings from Luo Ye had drilled the reality into their heads pirates had no future.
"Those idiots actually became Marines?" Dadan muttered in disbelief.
Luo Ye smirked.
The pirate world had changed drastically from its original course.
Ace, Sabo, and Luffy had once dreamed of setting sail as pirates. But after countless lessons—some verbal, some physical Luo Ye had hammered one truth into them:
Pirates weren't symbols of freedom. They were criminals.
They pillaged, murdered, and destroyed lives under the excuse of "adventure."
And Luo Ye had no respect for that.
"Freedom?" He scoffed. "Tell that to the people who lost everything to pirates."
The world romanticized piracy, but he had seen the reality. And he would make damn sure that the strongest of this generation Ace, Sabo, and Luffy stood on the right side of history.
