Chapter 345 Confrontation Between the World Suppressing Steles
Sun Wukong was stunned the moment he saw Monk Sha. That astonishment was beyond what words could describe. Anyway, Sun Wukong's first reaction was to slap himself. In his heart, Monk Sha could appear anywhere—be it the small Netherworld, the Netherworld World, even within the forces of the ten directions, or in any corner of this universe. However, he definitely should not appear here.
This was the Patrolling Celestial World, and it seemed, Monk Sha was actually a person of the Ancient Primordial World? But just as Sun Wukong stood there frozen, Monk Sha, or rather, Sha Wujing, smacked him on the head with a crescent shovel. Sha Wujing did not hesitate or show any doubt with this move, and the force was so great that it left one without any doubt that he intended to kill his opponent.
As a result, Sun Wukong was directly smacked down by the shovel and crashed into the ground. The other four were just about to break away to check on Sun Wukong after seeing him fall when they suddenly heard a voice from the pit Sun Wukong had created: "Don't worry about me, be careful yourselves. This big Monk, is my brother!" As the voice faded, a figure soared into the sky, moving so fast that even Sha Wujing had a hard time reacting, and then, Sha Wujing was sent flying once again.
Sun Wukong was no fool. Although he was extremely shocked to see Sha Wujing, he quickly noticed something was off about him. Whether it was his external appearance or the fluctuations of his soul and life force, the person in front of him was indeed Monk Sha, but what was most important, Monk Sha would definitely not have no reaction upon seeing him. In other words, this person in front of him only had two possible explanations.
One was that although the person seemed to be Monk Sha in every aspect, he actually was not and someone was impersonating him. Despite being unable to understand what methods could be used to achieve this, Sun Wukong wouldn't be too surprised if someone really could do it. Secondly, Monk Sha might have amnesia.
During the battle in the Pangu Realm years ago, when fighting against the Emperors of the Four Directions, Monk Sha went missing. Later on, when Tathagata Buddha led an attack on the Demon Clan and the Taoist forces of Heaven, they claimed that Monk Sha had been killed by them. In reality, this was only their side of the story; nobody had actually seen Monk Sha die, nor had his body been found. But due to the particular circumstances at the time, and considering that Sha Wujing indeed did not appear again, everyone assumed he was dead.
However, later on, Sun Wukong occasionally used his fiery eyes and golden gaze to investigate the Netherworld and discovered that Monk Sha's name was not written in the Book of Life and Death of the Pangu Realm. So he then told Zhu Bajie that Sha Wujing was fine. Because any being from the Pangu Realm, no matter how strong or weak, would have their name recorded in the Book of Life and Death.
Of course, the names of all Sun Wukong's monkey subjects were no longer there. But Monk Sha's name should definitely have been written in the Book of Life and Death. Since Sun Wukong hadn't seen Monk Sha's name crossed off, it proved he was still alive.
Furthermore, based on Sha Wujing's behavior now, Sun Wukong felt that the possibility of memory loss was quite high. Although Sha Wujing had always been rather simple and honest, during the Journey to the Western Paradise, the group of four traveled together for more than a decade, their familiarity and understanding with one another not needing any explanation. So just with one glance, Sun Wukong could sense that something was wrong with Sha Wujing at this moment.
As thoughts flickered through his mind like lightning, Sun Wukong let out a breath. Since he had lost his memory, there was no point in saying anything more. Whether it was really Sha Wujing or not, the first step was to knock him down; everything else could come later. If necessary, he could be taken back for Xi Zhao and the others to examine. After all, each of them had lived for over ten thousand years and would certainly know what was going on. Therefore, after using extreme speed to knock Sha Wujing away, Sun Wukong's feet burst with a black and a white ray of light in succession, which greatly increased his already swift speed once again.
Simultaneously, with a wave of his left hand in the void, the space around Sha Wujing, who had been sent flying, rippled. Nine glittering spatial chains appeared and immediately began to wrap around Sha Wujing. However, they only managed to coil halfway before being thwarted by a water tornado that sprang out of nowhere. The direction of the water tornado's rotation was exactly opposite to that of the spatial chains. As a result, the moment they made contact, the chains from the Seal Heavenly Stamp were instantaneously repelled.
Nevertheless, Sun Wukong hadn't expected the nine spatial chains to be able to contain Sha Wujing's attack; it was merely a feint. Thus, as the chains were repelled, Sun Wukong, relying on his own speed, had already positioned himself in front of Sha Wujing. However, Sha Wujing was completely enveloped by the fifteen-meter-long water tornado, so a direct attack would require first figuring out how to strip away or break open the water tornado.
Glancing towards the direction of the Primordial Palace, Sun Wukong noticed that aside from the four Buddhas locked in combat, the rest of the inhabitants of the Ancient Primordial World had not made a move. Seeing this, Sun Wukong decided not to bother with them, turning his head back to face the enormous water tornado spiraling towards him like a giant drill. With a flick of his left hand in the void, a dark and over one-meter-tall World Suppressing Stele suddenly appeared on Sun Wukong's left palm.

Without any visible action by him, a hundred or so streams of fine sand emerged from the stele. Some were solely Three Thousand Barren Sands; others were purely Wasteland Soil, while the rest were a mixture of the two. These strands of sand spun in the direction opposite to the rotation of the water tornado as soon as they appeared, curiously reminiscent of the earlier disruption of the nine spatial chains by the water tornado. As the sand covered the water tornado, Sun Wukong made a grasping motion with his left hand and then pulled back.
Concurrent with Sun Wukong's movements, the once rapidly spinning water tornado seemed to suddenly have its waters drained, vanishing into thin air. The hard-to-distinguish fine sands then began to coalesce, taking on the form of nine chains. As soon as the chains, made entirely of Wasteland Soil, formed, they bound for Sha Wujing.
With the water tornado broken, Sha Wujing didn't show the slightest hint of panic. Just as Sun Wukong's golden spatial chains had been a distraction, the water tornado had also served as a mere cover for Sha Wujing. The nine spatial chains, composed of Wasteland Soil, easily bound Sha Wujing tightly. However, Sun Wukong's expression instantly changed.
But it was already too late. Sha Wujing, bound by the chains of Wasteland Soil, shattered, and a piercing shriek came from behind Sun Wukong. A yellow stele, also over a meter tall, materialized out of nowhere and smacked straight onto Sun Wukong's back.
A mouthful of fresh blood sprayed out. A direct hit from the World Suppressing Stele would inflict serious injury, even on Sun Wukong.
