GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2064: Potential.

Apart from the possession of memories from his future selves, there is also the fact that he has the potential to become a god in this life, and if all goes according to his plan, he might also become an Absolute.

He is not joking about his potential to become a god. Because of him and what he assimilated that night or day when everyone in his village died, he has to ascend the undying pathway, and he has to become the god of that pathway.

Because of his existence and what he carries within him, no one else can become the god of the undying pathway. He has to die for someone else to become the god of undying.

He will be the one to look down on everyone in his pathway in the future. So his sense of superiority is well deserved. No amount of money can make someone else compare to him in terms of potential.

But he made sure to promise himself to visit all of these rich people in the future when he gains power.

As he walked to his cold and small room, he made sure to take note of the people he would rob of the wealth that they are showing off to him right now.

This thought appeased him temporarily of the offense of these mortals who were living a good life while he had to sleep in a cold room with his body shivering overnight.

As for the difference in food, while he wouldn't mind eating something tastier and healthier than bread and soup, he doesn't care for luxury in food because food is meant to be just for sustenance, not pleasure.

So he doesn't mind his daily diet. As long as eating won't give him power, then he will be content with eating just for nutrients.

He thought about his situation and sighed to himself. "That won't last long, though. I need to eat blood food or good pills if I want to prepare my existence for carrying and using divine flesh."

His need to prepare his existence for power means he can't be content with eating food just for nutrients for long. He has to change his diet soon. Fortunately, he has already put in plans for that.

He walked back to the barracks with innate superiority and a hope for the future. He knew that he might be poor for now, but that was only temporary. The fact is that he is fundamentally rich and better than everyone else.

He chuckled and said inwardly, "Maybe I should be a demon of pride. But if I were to become a demon, wouldn't it be for my greed or envy?"

He chuckled at his own joke.

His mind felt hollow without the presence of the other clones. He had to argue with himself and laugh at his own jokes. It was a strange, lonely experience for him.

He can't believe that he spent most of his existence with a single mind. But he isn't downcast about his silent mind because the other minds are still present, within him. They are just too weak currently.

Maybe if he didn't have the foundation of the Undying path weighing down his existence, his eleven other minds would have the time and strength to chat and be active.

Either way, it is just a temporary hindrance. Soon, he will be Legion again. All he needs is money and power.

What Legion had done was to make a spark in a forest. It was a dry forest, and the weather was very dry too. The conditions are just right for a forest fire.

But the spark hasn't been dropped yet. Instead, Legion gave the spark to a large, powerful bird who was able to carry it above the forest to find the best place to drop it.

This powerful bird had the advantage of height and could see farther than him. It could also reach anywhere in the forest quickly as opposed to his slow walking speed.

What's even better is that the bird can multiply the spark and throw it all over the forest at once. This way, the forest fire doesn't have to start in a single location. The whole forest can catch fire all at once.

This is the advantage Legion got when he gave the god of steam his patent and also gave permission for the patent to be advertised.

If he had announced the technology of alternative current in the small Ivory town, the town would still experience an uproar, but the impact of his technology would be slower and smaller compared to letting every town and city that the god of steam is in control of get hit by his technology at the same time.

Ivory Town would have been set alight by his technology, but it would have been more difficult to find an investor and also highly unlikely to find a wealthy investor. After all, the richest people in this world rarely live in towns.

Even so, he had to wait a while before the full impact of what he had done came to light. He had to wait for his patent to be advertised first. When it was, calls came for inventor Levi from all over the enlightened world.

His technology solved two problems. They were the problems of productivity and transmission of electricity.

The current technology to produce electricity relies on batteries. Humans had discovered that different materials, when piled and arranged in a certain order, react in a way that causes electricity to be produced.

In order to produce more electricity, bigger and better batteries were invented. Rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries were also invented.

Rechargeable batteries are batteries that rely on energy water to produce electricity. Once they are depleted, all that they need to start producing electricity again is for them to be replenished with energy water.

Non-rechargeable batteries, on the other hand, get depleted and can't be replenished easily. They have to be discarded or deconstructed and rebuilt with newer parts in an effort to reuse or recycle them.

The fight for dominance in the electricity market has always been between these two technologies. His technology would provide a third option.
