"Don't worry," Elder Brother Chen spoke in a quiet voice. "Since I said that we will attend that auction, we will definitely do it."

Qi Yongrui, who heard her remark, couldn't help but shake his head. He said to her, "Well, you are indeed looking quite charming."

He glanced at many mers who were looking at his wife and sighed.

Qi Yongrui knew that his wife was really beautiful, but he never thought that she was this charming in the eyes of other mers. Just look at that fiery gaze with which these mers were looking at his wife; if not for the fact that they could not strip her clean, they would have done that as well.

Simply shameless, thought Qi Yongrui angrily.

He raised his head and glared at the mers who were eyeing his wife, but maybe these mers didn't take him seriously. Of course they didn't. A nasty voice spoke in his head with a snicker.

Take a look at you; you are sitting in a wheelchair like a burden on your wife.

Qi Yongrui's eyes turned cold, and he clenched his fists angrily.

"Is everything alright?" Luo Huian asked the mer when she sensed the changes in his gloom aura. Now, why was this mer suddenly going crazy out of nowhere? She looked down at the mer in the wheelchair and said to him, "You don't like it here? Want to leave?" She did not want Qi Yongrui to suddenly go crazy; that's the last thing she needed.

However, in Qi Yongrui's eyes, Luo Huian's words were nothing less than her raw concern towards him.

His eyes softened, and the air around him turned a bit warm. He said to Luo Huian, "I am fine. It is just that I am not used to so many people pressing down on me."

As soon as he finished speaking, Luo Huian frowned and turned to look at the bodyguards behind them. She said to them, "Go ahead and open a path for us. Master Qi is feeling suffocated."

The Luo family's bodyguards were elite guards who had received the finest training.

Thus, it didn't take long for them to open up enough space for Luo Huian to take Qi Yongrui to the VIP room, which was booked for them.

When Qi Yongrui saw Luo Huian's actions, his eyes were filled with even more pride. He shot a proactive gaze at the mer who had been ignoring him all along and sneered coldly. Did they think that he was someone whom they could ignore as they liked?

"Look at him; just look at him." Master Qi looked at Qi Yongrui, who was being served like a young master, and his face turned cold. "I cannot understand what is wrong with Luo Huian. She can obviously get married to a much finer mer, but she just had to take care of that useless mer!"

Master Qi disliked Qi Yongrui to begin with, as he often wondered if Qi Yongrui was one of the bastards that his wife had sired behind his back. But now that he knew that he was not, Master Qi hated Qi Yongrui even more; how could he not? That mer was the reason why their company was about to go bankrupt!

He not only severed the ties with them but also pulled his hand away from all kinds of deals, leading them to lose a lot of money. If the deals had not fallen through, then they could have earned a lot of money. But because Qi Yongrui was the one who was in charge of these projects, the clients refused to let Qi Changpu take over them.

What was more, all those contracts had a clause that only Qi Yongrui could handle them. Thus, even though they were not willing to break the contract, they had to do it. And since they were the ones who broke the contract's clause, they had to pay the compensation as well.

The amount of money that they had to waste – Master Qi thought he was going to have a seizure!

How dare this mer cause them such big trouble and then pat his butt and leave?

Now he was living a good life while his daughter was worrying about finding new projects.

"Do you want to cause more trouble for our family?" Madam Qi glanced at her husband and spoke in a cold voice. "If you want to, then you can go ahead and cause a ruckus. Be glad that the Luo family stopped before they ruined our family completely. If not, we would have been on the streets!"

Madam Qi naturally blamed Master Qi for what happened to their family. It was bad enough that he didn't treat Qi Yongrui well; he didn't even notice that his own daughter was getting smitten by the adoptive son of their family.

It was a good thing that they controlled the mouths of the son-in-law as well as the servants around them. Or else, she was worried that they would have lost their faces.

When Master Qi heard the blaming tone of his wife, he pursed his lips angrily. He, of course, knew that his wife blamed him, but what was his fault? It was clearly the fault of that mer! He was adopted into their family, and his position and status were awkward and yet he went ahead and seduced his daughter.

Of course, he did not believe that there was anything wrong with his daughter. In his eyes, Qi Changpu was a charming woman whom every mer and man wanted to hook up with. So how could she be at fault? She was a woman. If a mer charmed her up, she was bound to lose herself.

It was Qi Yongrui's fault that he was causing such trouble.

If he hadn't seduced his daughter, would his good daughter even pay attention to that hideous mer?

Madam Qi knew what was going on in his head and sneered. She pulled him to her side and said, "Just don't cause any trouble for him. You have seen how fiercely the Luo family is protecting him. The last thing we need is to get targeted by them again."

Master Qi hummed in response; however, as he lowered his head, a flash of resentment flashed through them. He truly didn't wish to let go of Qi Yongrui so easily, but he would listen to his wife for now.

Qi Yongrui also noticed Master Qi; it was hard not to when the mer was glaring at him as if he wished to skin him alive. However, Qi Yongrui only glanced at the mer and didn't say anything to him. The two of them were no longer on the same path.

However, what surprised him was that he saw the Qi family at the auction. As far as he knew, after being targeted by the Luo family, they were in a lot of trouble. They didn't even have the money to pay back the compensation that they owed the many companies who cancelled the contract.

How come they had the money to come here? And even if they somehow managed to gather enough funds, how could they get the tickets for this auction?

"What are you looking at?" Luo Huian noticed that the mer was looking at someone. However, when she raised her head, Master Qi and his wife had already left; thus, she didn't see anyone.

Qi Yongrui paused and turned to look at her. He blinked his eyes before languidly saying, "Nothing. I thought I saw someone I knew, but it seems like I made a mistake."

Qi Liwei, who was accompanying an old woman, looked at Qi Yongrui with a twisted expression.

He thought that once Qi Yongrui lost his legs, he would be abandoned and would live at the mercy of the Qi family. But who would have thought that not only was he not abandoned, but he was even living a good life?

He was accompanied by such a beautiful woman that every mer was filled with jealousy, including him. It should have been him!
