Chapter 60: Chapter 60: It's a Little Early
Just as he put the gift box away, Ian saw Hermione coming out of the entrance of the girls' dormitory, rubbing her sleepy eyes and yawning.
When Ian saw this situation, he knew that the other party must have just woken up not long ago and was probably in the process of washing up when she was called out.
Hermione had long brown hair and was wearing a burgundy silk nightgown. The hem of the robe only reached her knees, revealing her smooth and delicate calves. On her feet were a pair of furry rabbit-head slippers.
Hermione, who had just come out of the bathroom, was still a little dazed. She had planned to lie on the bed for a while after washing up, then go to the common room to make a pot of tea, and then go to Ian for the appointment at around 9 o'clock.
But she was told that someone was looking for her in the common room, so in order not to be impolite, she had to give up the idea of going back to bed.
When she saw Ian in the common room, she suddenly came to her senses.
She saw an elegant and handsome young man sitting on the orange-red sofa by the window, with his fingers crossed on his legs, his head slightly tilted towards the window, and then he just quietly looked at the scenery outside.
Looking at everything from Hermione's perspective—the morning light, the young man, the quietness, the elegance, and the distant view—it was simply a perfect oil painting, a picturesque landscape, a picturesque young man...
This made Hermione, who had just woken up, dazed again.
"Good morning. It seems I came a little early."
On the contrary, Ian, with his long-standing keen sense, noticed Hermione the moment she appeared, so he took the initiative to greet her.
The steady and charming voice woke Hermione from her brief daze.
"I remember what happened today. I didn't forget it, but I didn't expect it to be so early. I was planning to go find you after I washed up..."
Suddenly, Hermione explained in a panic. She really didn't want Ian to misunderstand her and think that she had forgotten about their study appointment today.
"I thought it was Harry and the others who came to borrow my homework again. Ian, I didn't expect it to be you..."
Her voice became smaller and smaller, and her little face turned red quickly. The perceptive Ian happened to notice her plush bunny slippers. The cute bunny heads were constantly rising and falling.
"This is a gift for you. Also, I didn't say you forgot—I came too early. I'll wait for you here. Don't worry." Seeing that Hermione was embarrassed and uncomfortable, Ian immediately explained sympathetically. After all, he had come a little early.
"Well, thank you for the gift. Wait for me a moment!" Hermione said softly, then picked up the gift box and ran to the dormitory without looking back.
"Damn Elsa, she did it on purpose. She just wanted to see me make a fool of myself in front of Ian. Jealousy made her forget the most basic manners and kindness..."
As Hermione walked back, she couldn't stop complaining in her heart about the second-year girl who had passed the message to her.
Even Hermione, who usually seemed carefree, couldn't help but feel a little regretful when she thought about being seen in such a sloppy state by Ian today.
"And Ron and Harry, those two idiots who only know how to borrow homework from me. If I hadn't thought it was them, I wouldn't have rushed out dressed like this..."
Hermione kept muttering to herself along the way, as if only this could make her forget the embarrassment she had just felt.
In fact, what Hermione didn't know was that everything she had just shown was adorable in Ian's eyes, not sloppy.
He really thought she was very cute. Given her childhood and the influence of magic, she was like Emma Watson with beauty filters turned on. Ian really couldn't find any flaws.
Especially when he saw her toes wiggling in her shoes out of embarrassment, causing the little bunny heads on the slippers to sway up and down, Ian felt inexplicably charmed.
After Hermione returned to her dormitory, she anxiously found an eyebrow pencil and lightly shaped her brows to make them look longer. At the same time, she applied very light eyeliner and a thin layer of lip gloss.
This series of tedious operations was completed skillfully and quickly in Hermione's hands.
She usually didn't like to wear makeup, but that didn't mean she didn't know how. During the summer before school, her mother had taught her how to apply light, ladylike makeup. So, never judge the maturity of European and American girls with conventional perspectives.
Most of the girls in the dormitory had already woken up. Some were lying on their beds without any scruples, staring at the ceiling in a daze, while others continued to curl up under the quilt, hoping Hypnos, the god of sleep in Greek mythology, would visit them again.
Parvati Patil saw Hermione coming back and sitting at the table to put on makeup for the first time. The gossip fire in her heart quickly ignited. She first approached Hermione quietly and tiptoed closer before suddenly saying:
"I've never seen you wear makeup before, but today you are."
Hermione's hands trembled at the sudden comment, and the lip gloss went straight to her chin.
She quickly pulled out a tissue and wiped off the lip gloss on her chin, stammering in response, "Yeah, I just put on some makeup... practicing for the weekend..."
"Oh? Really?..." Parvati smiled meaningfully. Her motherly tone carried an overclocked frequency, instantly spreading across the entire Gryffindor first-year girls' dormitory.
