Chapter 63: chapter 63
"After directly absorbing this ancient magic power, your understanding of ancient magic will significantly improve. This is an essential enhancement—one that strengthens you from within, unlike the external augmentation provided by the 'residue.' It will be of great use to you," the senior explained.
Hearing this, Robert couldn't help but recall the mechanics from the game.
It was just like the gameplay—finding ancient magic hotspots, absorbing their energy, and increasing the "blue bar" of ancient magic.
The senior continued, "The gift I want to give you is a notebook I left at Hogwarts. It contains records of the places where I found ancient magic power and even marks locations I suspected might hold more, though I never had the chance to visit them."
"Once you retrieve the notebook, you can visit each location one by one. You should also check the places I've already visited, though I'm unsure if ancient magic can regenerate there. If not, then focus on the unvisited spots. Based on my experience, those locations are highly likely to contain ancient magic—more than enough for you."
Robert nodded but couldn't help but ask, "Senior, since even people without ancient magic talent can absorb 'residues' like you did, why did you have to find me? Couldn't you have asked someone else? Why were you trapped for so long?"
"Because only those with ancient magic talent can fully contain these 'residues.' If it were someone else, they might absorb enough to die, but they wouldn't be able to free me... The amount of 'residue' inside me now is countless times greater than what I absorbed when I defeated Lanlock," the senior admitted helplessly.
"If that's the case, couldn't your friends have gathered multiple people, with each absorbing a little? Wouldn't that have freed you sooner?" Robert was still puzzled.
The senior shook her head. "I'm still alive because this cloak has frozen everything about me—my body, my magic power, and the 'residues' that were on the verge of exploding. The bottle of 'residues' I gave you leaked out by accident, which proves my cloak is at its limit. If I remove it, I won't be able to put it back on.
"So, if you want to save me, you must absorb everything the moment I take off my cloak. There's only one opportunity—just a few seconds. My Devouring Magic only works on one person at a time, meaning no one else can do it. You are the best candidate."
She sighed, then added, "If you decide to help me, it would be best to wait until your ancient magic has advanced enough that you're confident in containing the 'residues' without being overwhelmed. It would be much safer for you then. Previously, I was too desperate and didn't think things through..."
Robert exhaled slowly.
So, the real issue wasn't ancient magic itself, but rather the "residues" created by Morgana's discovery of ancient magic!
However, this realization didn't change his plan much.
Originally, after gaining a basic understanding of ancient magic, he had set two objectives:Confirm the specific side effects of ancient magic.Determine the cause of these side effects and find a way to eliminate them. Now, he knew that the power he wanted to study wasn't ancient magic itself but rather a mixture of ancient magic and negative emotions.
This simplified things.
He could continue improving his ancient magic without worrying about sudden bursts from excessive absorption.
The "residues" were just an extra bonus.
After all, his senior had defeated the enhanced Lanlock using pure ancient magic—without any assistance from the "residues." That meant ancient magic alone was already formidable.
Why risk relying on dangerous "residues" when the real power lay in the purity of ancient magic?
At this moment, Robert's goal shifted.
Rather than simply seeking more power, he now aimed to save his senior.
If he could save her, he would do his best. If he couldn't... then there was nothing more he could do.
That said, he sincerely hoped to rescue her, because it would prove he had solved the biggest drawback of the "residues."
And that, in turn, would mean his ancient magic—and potentially all other forms of magic—could be strengthened by the "residues" safely!
This thought lifted his spirits.
"Senior, I heard that you often fought against multiple enemies alone. No matter how many opponents you faced, you always managed to escape unscathed. How did you do it?" Robert asked curiously. "When I fought against the UK Conspiracy Party, I was completely at a disadvantage. Their numbers overwhelmed me, and once they cast the Armor Curse, I had no way to break through..."
"The UK Conspiracy Party? I remember hearing about them during my travels. They're all bad people, right?" the senior asked.
"Yeah… that's one way to put it," Robert nodded.
"How many enemies did you face?" she inquired.
Robert thought for a moment. "Twenty-five."
"Huh? Not even thirty? Isn't that just a matter of using the Killing Curse?" she asked, genuinely surprised.
Robert coughed awkwardly. "Ahem. First of all, I don't know how to use the Killing Curse yet. Secondly, even if I could... there were over twenty enemies. I can only take down one person at a time with a single Killing Curse. If they all retaliated, I'd be overwhelmed. Even the Armor Curse wouldn't hold up against twenty simultaneous attacks."
"What? You can only kill one person per curse?" The senior stared at him in disbelief.
Robert suddenly had a bad feeling. "You don't mean to say—"
The senior raised her wand. In an instant, Robert's surroundings changed once more.
Before them stood over twenty wooden dummies.
She lifted her wand.
"Avada Kedavra."
A surge of green light filled the pure white dreamscape, turning it an eerie emerald shade.
The dark green curse shot forward and, upon striking the first target, split instantly—like a chain of lightning—hitting every remaining dummy in quick succession.
"Well, they're all dead," she said calmly.
Though Robert had a hunch about what she was going to do, witnessing it firsthand still left him speechless.
His senior had only a fraction of her former power, yet she could still do this?
He could only imagine how terrifying she had been at her peak.
Killing multiple Dark Wizards on the way to class wasn't just a joke—it was reality.
Unable to hold back, Robert asked, "Then… what if I don't know the Killing Curse?"
"The Stunning Spell, the Petrification Spell—it's the same principle," she replied nonchalantly. This time, she didn't even chant the incantation; she merely flicked her wand.
A red spell shot forward, split apart, and precisely hit every single target again.
Robert's eyes lit up with determination.
"Senior, I want to learn this!"
