Heavens' Laughter

Chapter 80: Agony

"Can you just calm down!?" Tian Hao pleaded, his voice unsteady and his words almost catching in his throat.

A shudder coursed through him as he found himself unable to look away from those bloodthirsty eyes, eyes that seemed to pierce through him, holding him captive with a gaze so intense it felt as if the world around them had vanished, leaving only the two of them.

However, Feng Shen paid no attention to the desperate plea. His mind was consumed by a singular, unrelenting drive to kill.

Drawing on the power of his forbidden bloodline, he allowed it to flood his body, knitting the shattered bones in his arm and leg with a fiery, searing energy that burned as much as it healed.

With a guttural roar, Feng Shen propelled himself upward, every ounce of his being focused on the pest that had become the sole object of his hatred.

He didn't care if his body was pushed beyond its limits, if his muscles tore or his very essence unraveled—nothing mattered except the annihilation of this instructor.

"Shit!" Tian Hao cursed, caught completely off guard by the sudden attack. His reflexes kicked in as he narrowly dodged the strike with his sword, the force sending him hurtling sideways through the air:

"Come on! I apologized for what I said! I lost my composure, alright?"

Feng Shen landed firmly on one foot, his gaze locking onto the pest. He offered no response, no acknowledgment of the words thrown his way.

Taking a deep breath, he began to channel his Qi, feeling the potent energy surge through his veins like a raging river.

Feng Shen's focus sharpened to a razor's edge as he drew the power inward, concentrating it.

The intensity grew, coiling like a serpent ready to strike, before rising toward his throat, the pressure building to an almost unbearable peak.

Realizing what was coming and the sheer magnitude of the impending attack, Tian Hao knew he had no choice but to defend himself. Read new adventures at My Virtual Library Empire

"Fuck my life…" He muttered to himself.

Without hesitation, Tian Hao's hands moved in fluid, deliberate motions, summoning a massive fire gorilla forged from spiritual essence.

The blazing creature materialized behind him, its fiery form radiating heat and power.

The Spiritual Fire Gorilla let out an ear-splitting roar that reverberated through the air, pounding its chest with thunderous force.

It was then that Feng Shen unleashed his Dragon's Roar, a devastating blast imbued with an overwhelming surge of Qi.

The sheer force of the attack was so immense that it caused the water to evaporate instantly, steam rising in thick, hissing clouds.

The Dragon's Roar tore through the air, wide and all-encompassing, obliterating everything in its path with an unstoppable fury that left no room for escape.

As the attack neared, the Spiritual Fire Gorilla wrapped its massive arms around Tian Hao, encasing him in a protective barrier of flame and raw energy, its molten surface shimmering.

Seconds later…

BOOOOOOOOM!!!!

An enormous explosion occurred.

The two surges of Qi had collided, their energies crashing against each other in a fierce, unrelenting struggle for dominance.

The air itself seem to shatter under the impact, and the raw force of their clash sent shockwaves rippling outward.

Everything nearby was caught in the maelstrom, debris and dust being blown away as the sheer power of their connection threatened to tear everything around.

Slowly opening his eyes, Tian Hao lowered the arm he had used to shield himself from the swirling debris.

"No way…"

What Tian Hao saw left him genuinely stunned—the massive arm of his Spiritual Fire Gorilla had been completely shattered, cracks spreading like spiderwebs across its fiery form.

The once-mighty Spiritual Guardian now flickered weakly, its entire body on the verge of disintegrating entirely.

Seeing the stunned instructor and sensing his weakness, Feng Shen wasted no time.

"DIEEE!!!"

Febg Shen unleashed yet another Dragon's Roar, even more powerful than the last.

Snapping out of his daze, Tian Hao hurriedly tried to command his Spiritual Fire Gorilla to block with its other arm.

But it was too weak to respond, and before he could react, the remaining limb shattered completely. Like fragile glass, it broke apart into nothing but swirling essence.

In the next instant, Tian Hao was struck by the full force of the attack.

The blast sent him flying off his sword, crashing into the pond below. His body hit the water with a violent splash, then plunged into the ground beneath, leaving a deep, unmistakable imprint of his form.

"Damn it… Damn it… Damn it!!!" Tian Hao growled, his fists trembling with the force of his frustration. His eyes were wide with rage as he slowly pushed himself to his feet, his body protesting with every movement.

He coughed up blood, feeling the remnants of the attack surge through his veins.

Thankfully, Tian Hao's Spirit Physique had spared his bones from total destruction, but the relief was fleeting. What gnawed at him was not the pain, but the humiliation of it all.

Annoyance bubbled up within him, but it wasn't just directed at this young man.

'No, it's my own fault.' Tian Hao thought to himself.

How could he—someone so far above this level—allow such a lowly realm to wound him?

The realization stung deeper than any physical pain.

Tian Hao had let his guard down, and he had to pay the price.

"Seeing how you struck me... can we now move on with our lives?" he asked, as he let out a deep, wearied sigh.

Tian Hao was desperate to end this senseless confrontation, his patience wearing thin.

It was beneath him, a man of his experience and stature, to be wasting his time in a battle with someone so far beneath him.

After all, as someone of his standing, Tian Hao had no business fighting a mere future student of the academy, no matter how skilled they might be.

And to be honest, the very thought of continuing this childish exchange gnawed at him.

However, it seemed that such words fell on deaf ears, as Feng Shen remained unmoved.

His entire leg and arm had fully healed.

Feng Shen shot forward like a bolt of lightning, appearing directly in front of the instructor, his intent clear—he was ready to rip his entire head off.

But just as his strike was about to land, mere inches away from making contact, an unexpected sensation coursed through his entire arm.

As suddenly, a searing burn of fire erupted from Feng Shen's skin.

"… Tsk~ so annoying!" he spat, his voice dripping with contempt as he ignored his arm.

The fire was nothing.

"Why won't you just let me kill you? I won't stop until you're dead." Feng Shen's voice came out fast, almost frantic, each word dripping with madness.

A wide, deranged smile spread across his face, his eyes gleaming with a crazed intensity that seemed to distort his very being.

"You know I can't do that…" Tian Hao said, his tone steady but laced with an edge of finality.

He paused for a moment, sizing up the young man, whose madness was palpable:

"However, seeing how much you want me dead, it seems I can't let you grow any stronger, or allow you to keep living. If I do, it'll bite me in the ass later, won't it? So I'll have to burn you to death."

Tian Hao was no longer playing around.

The insanity in this young man left no room for mercy.

'I have no choice…' Tian Hao thought to himself.

It was clear that the young man wouldn't stop until he was dead, and that was a risk he couldn't afford to take.

Tian Hao understood the consequences of killing—others would surely be displeased, perhaps even furious—but he knew that it was a necessary sacrifice.

Letting someone so dangerous live would only set him up for a death wish down the line.

So Tian Hao decided he would face the consequences, as it was better than allowing this madness to continue:

"And so… won't you burn?"

At that very moment…

Tian Hao sprang backward. As he sailed through the air, his hands moved in a fluid, intricate series of motions.

In an instant, a small, fiery spider materialized in the air above.

The Spiritual Fire Spider descended gracefully and landed with precision on the young man's shoulder. Its delicate, flame-like form flickered as it nestled there.

The moment Feng Shen's eyes locked onto the fiery spider, a sudden wave of heat enveloped him.

His entire body was consumed by flames, the intense fire licking at his skin, causing it to melt and char.

The smell of burning flesh and the sound of crackling skin filled the air, yet there was no scream, no cry of agony.

Instead, a chilling, manic laughter erupted from Feng Shen's lips:

"Do you really think you can kill me? I've been walking between life and death for so long that death and life itself have become my companions!"

Feng Shen began walking forward:

"Every breath I take, every step I make, is a mockery of your pathetic attempts. You think you're hurting me? I've long since embraced this agony!"
