Chapter 137: Chapter 44: Soaring Levels
"Platinum, this Fire Sprite Type-II is for you! The world has changed. Still using old-fashioned bows and arrows? You'll only end up getting pummeled.
This Fire Sprite Type-II will double your strength."
Leaving the hot spring, Liliya looked at Platinum, who had snow-white, horse-like ears, and handed her a double gun that seemed to be burning with flames.
The Fire Sprite Type-II was a four-star weapon from the Honkai world... produced by St. 7308 Labs, the second-generation controlled chain reaction weapon using Honkai energy.
However, now materialized, it could use other types of energy as substitutes for Honkai energy.
"Fire Sprite Type-II..."
Platinum looked at the strange weapon in Liliya's hand, puzzled.
"Let me show you how it works..."
Liliya toyed with the double gun, looked around, and saw a small mound. She aimed at the mound and pulled the trigger.
Bang! Bang!
With Liliya's shots, a pit as large as a face basin appeared in the small mound ahead, with clear burn marks.
The bullet had long since disappeared, sinking deep into the earth.
"This is just a basic attack. You can fire by simply pulling the trigger on the gun. If you channel your mana into the bullet, you can continuously enhance it."
"It doesn't require ammunition or arrows. Having just this gun is enough."
"It avoids the awkward situation of running out of arrows, and compared to a bow...its power and portability far exceed that of bows..."
Liliya inserted her finger into the trigger mechanism of the fire elemental spirit, rotated it, and introduced the advantages of this modern weapon to Platinum.
Or perhaps it should be called the modern weapon of the Honkai world...
"Additionally, just like the demon blade I gave to Cellinia, it comes with innate skills. Even like this... Flame Burst!"
Liliya casually fired, unleashing Fire Spirit's weapon skill, two bursting grenades were shot forward.
"Boom..."
The ground ahead exploded... The explosion produced massive flames, burning both on the ground and in the air.
-
"Oh no..."
As the commotion unfolded before their eyes, Liliya's expression changed abruptly...
This was giant dragon territory, and they couldn't possibly miss such a loud noise. Liliya had been too careless; whenever she thought about Honkai weapons, she couldn't help but feel immensely proud, forgetting where they were.
Liliya! Liliya, you're not even Rozaliya, why are you so foolish...
"Something's coming," she murmured, her ears twitching as she sensed movement approaching from afar. "Be cautious. Li Yue, you and Platinum, Tianhuo, step back for now." She handed the two Fire Spirit Type-IIs to Platinum. "These are for you. We'll get your weapons later, Li Yue, Tianhuo."
"But Liliya-sama, we..."
"Liliya-sama, I am your follower. How could I abandon you?"
"That's right, we're not burdens... Just give me enough time to cast spells, even a dragon I can deal some damage to." Skyfire looked at Liliya, speaking with utmost seriousness.
"You should hurry and leave. I know your abilities are impressive, but you've witnessed the devastation of the previous Zombie Dragons' attack. That was a combined effort between Rozaliya and myself...
We simply cannot protect you. There's no need for such unnecessary sacrifices."
Even against the dragon, Rozaliya and Liliya lacked confidence in achieving a decisive victory.
After all, it was one of the most formidable beings in this world, and they were still only around level 50. Their confidence was not high. The only thing that could grant them invincible confidence was Skyfire's Slash.
However, Skyfire's Slash couldn't be used indiscriminately; it required a certain level of assurance for safety.
"Indeed. Please take care, Lady Rozaliya and Lady Liliya," Cellinia said, along with her companions. Their words immediately reminded them of the horrifying destruction caused by Liliya and Rozaliya in the previous Zombie Dragon incident. They refrained from saying any further.
With a quick farewell, they turned and left.
The greatest irony would be to avoid death on the battlefield only to perish from the collateral damage of the Hero's attack.
"They've left..."
Liliya sighed with slight relief as she watched Cellinia and her team disappear into the distance.
Their strength is quite good, but compared to the top echelons, they still fall short. They'll just be a burden in this fight.
Of course, the main reason was that both Rozaliya and Liliya favored destructive attacks.
"Liliya, you can't possibly want me to unleash Skyfire again, right? Death... the sensation of my body disintegrating is not one I wish to experience twice," Rozaliya said, her brow furrowed as she leaned against Liliya, back-to-back, waiting for their enemy's arrival.
The feeling of dying, we share it together. Unless it's absolutely necessary, of course we won't go looking for our own demise. And now our levels have increased significantly.
What if we can actually defeat the dragon this time...? Liliya thought, though she too had no desire to continue experiencing death.
"Shouldn't we... use some crystals to buy experience chips? Maybe level up a bit?" Rozaliya suggested, her eyes lighting up as she glanced at their storehouse containing over three thousand crystals.
"But... isn't that a waste?" Liliya hesitated, still owing the System 10,000 crystals.
She also wanted to draw more rewards...
And... she desired to buy Valkyrie Fragments to upgrade to an SSS rank Valkyrie.
All of these required precious crystals.
"You can only complete tasks efficiently with great power. Plus, we've got so much time left on our monthly pass. Increasing our strength should be our top priority."
"You're right... let's level up first!"
Liliya fell silent for a moment, sensing the enemies drawing ever closer. Reluctantly, she agreed.
Clicking on the shop, Liliya's eyes fell on the experience chips inside. Without hesitation, she purchased three thousand crystals worth of Special Ability and Mechanical Experience Chips.
Without delay, she distributed them between Liliya and Rozaliya.
Their levels instantly soared to 68...
"Power, we're even stronger now..."
"Skills aren't leveled up yet... but enemies are here. Let's deal with them first..." Just as Rozaliya was about to upgrade her skills, five small... dragon-like creatures charged towards them.
"These must be two-legged dragons, right...?" Liliya mused, her eyes fixed on the creatures hurtling towards them.
In an instant, they were upon the girls, their diminutive size belied by the ferocity in their eyes.
Rozaliya and Liliya gazed upon the two-legged dragons bearing down on them. Though resembling dragons, these creatures were only as large as a person, with two feet and talons like birds of prey. Bat-like wings adorned their backs, but unlike any bat, these wings were scaled. Their tails snaked back like those of serpents.
Despite their name, two-legged dragons belonged to the realm of beasts, not true dragons... and thus lacked the dragonfire breath that was the exclusive domain of their larger kin.
Below the hovering dragons, a horde of lizardfolk charged forth, spears at the ready.
