Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Call Me the Seer
At noon, when Wentworth entered the Great Hall and sat down, a Hufflepuff girl quickly approached him, holding an envelope in her hand.
The girl glanced shyly at Wentworth, bit her lip, and, after a moment's hesitation, handed him the envelope.
Kirk, who happened to witness the scene, immediately let out a strange yelp, drawing everyone's attention.
Wentworth looked at the envelope in his hand, puzzled. Since when had Hogwarts become so... progressive in these matters?
However, as Wentworth examined the girl standing before him, an image of Cassandra surfaced in his mind. It's easy to get used to luxury, but hard to return to simplicity, Wentworth thought to himself with a sigh.
Just as he was pondering how to tactfully refuse the girl without hurting her feelings, she spoke up:
"Wentworth, could you, when you sleep tonight, help me see if the man in this envelope is the one I'll marry in the future?"
Her words left Wentworth momentarily stunned before a look of sudden realization crossed his face.
Who said Hufflepuffs were simple-minded? Look at this nameless girl in front of him—she even managed to make delivering a love letter so creative!
If he was interested in her, he could simply tell her tomorrow that the answer was yes. If not, he could say no. That way, no one would lose face.
Wentworth gave the girl an approving glance, thinking to himself, With emotional intelligence like this, maybe I should give her a chance.
"What are you two talking about?"
At that moment, Cedric approached, also holding an envelope, his curiosity evident.
To Wentworth's astonishment, the girl's cheeks turned visibly red, and she cast a meaningful glance at Cedric.
Seeing this, Wentworth's heart sank, realizing he might have misunderstood the situation.
Sure enough, as he opened the envelope in his hand and pulled out the photo inside, he immediately recognized the person in the picture—it was Cedric.
Without hesitation, Wentworth let go of the photo, sealed the envelope, and returned it to the girl with swift and fluid movements.
"Sorry, I can't help you," Wentworth said bluntly.
"Why not? Don't you have prophetic dreams?" the girl asked, confused.
"Because tonight, I'll have insomnia."
"How do you know you'll have insomnia before even going to bed?"
"Because I have prophetic dreams."
The girl walked away slowly, still looking puzzled.
"That's it? So boring!" Kirk grumbled, plopping back into his seat, disappointed by the lack of entertainment.
"Wentworth, what did she come to you for?" Cedric asked curiously.
So, Wentworth recounted everything that had happened earlier in Divination class. When he got to the part where he suggested to Professor Trelawney that she should consider getting a new pair of glasses, both Cedric and Kirk burst into laughter.
Neither of them took Professor Trelawney's words seriously, given her eccentric reputation.
Kirk even joked mischievously, "Wentworth, want me to hit you with a Stupefy tonight to help you sleep better? Helping that girl doesn't matter, but I'm more curious to know what Cedric's future girlfriend looks like!"
The joke made Cedric's face turn bright red, and his gaze involuntarily flicked in a certain direction.
Noticing this, Wentworth followed Cedric's gaze and saw a group of first-year Ravenclaws sitting there. He immediately understood.
Clearing his throat, Wentworth deliberately drew their attention back to him and said with an air of mystery, "Actually, I can do more than dream divination, you know!"
Cedric and Green exchanged skeptical glances, neither believing him.
"Wentworth, have you been taking Divination too seriously? Do you really think you're a Seer?" Kirk teased.
Wentworth motioned for them to lean closer, then picked up a teacup from the table.
"Tea leaf reading—you've all learned that, right?"
Cedric and Kirk nodded.
"Of course. It's a required lesson from Professor Trelawney," Kirk replied confidently.
Without a word, Wentworth drained the tea in his cup, poured the remaining leaves onto the Hufflepuff table, and began examining them intently.
Watching this, Cedric and Kirk exchanged puzzled looks, each seeing a big question mark on the other's face.
Finally, Kirk couldn't help but lean in and ask, "Wentworth, are you okay? What are you even looking at?"
Without lifting his head, Wentworth replied, "I'm looking for the girl Cedric likes."
Hearing this, Cedric quickly leaned in as well, incredulous. "Wentworth, you can actually do that?"
Inside, Wentworth was laughing hysterically, but he kept a straight face and said, "Cedric, the girl you like is in Ravenclaw."
His words startled Cedric, who stammered, "You're just guessing! There's a one-in-four chance. It's not that unlikely."
Kirk, however, realized Wentworth had guessed correctly and gave Cedric a sly look. "Cedric, I didn't think someone with your academic superstar image could also be so smitten! I think we should make a pact right now: Brothers stick together for life—whoever gets a girlfriend first is a kneazle!"
Cedric, flustered, quickly denied it. "No, I'm not! That's not true! Don't make things up! You dragged me into this!"
Kirk ignored Cedric's protests and turned back to Wentworth, eagerly asking, "Anything else? Anything else?"
Feigning deep concentration, Wentworth studied the tea leaves for a while longer before slowly saying, "The girl should have long black hair."
Cedric's eyes widened in shock at this specific detail. After a moment of stunned silence, he whispered, "Wentworth, who told you all this?"
Wentworth raised his head, barely suppressing his laughter, and replied with a straight face, "From now on, call me Seer Wentworth."
